Actually, if you go back to 1988 at the GAB in Baltimore, NWA/WCW had a triple cage match called the Tower of Doom. It was 3 cages stacked with trap-doors on each floor that were opened at 2 minute intervals. 2 teams of 5 men each sent a man to the top cage, every 2 minutes a new man from each team would enter. The match was over when all 5 men of one team escaped the bottom cage. This first and only "Tower of Doom" match was won by the team of the Road Warriors, Jimmy and Ronnie Garvin, and Steve Williams as they defeated Ivan Kolloff, Al Perez, The Russian Assassin, Mike Rotunda, and Kevin Sullivan.

In 1996, WCW re-vamped the Tower of Doom unsuccessfully as the "Doomsday Cage" which was won by the Team of Hogan/Savage as they defeated Flair/Anderson/Meng/Barbarian/Luger/Sullivan/Z-Gangsta/Ultimate Solution. This was a 3 tier cage of equal sizes with the center cage divided into 2 rooms that was constructed at the entrance way. The top cage held Anderson/Flair. Room 1 of Cage 2 held the Faces of Fear. Room 2 of Cage 2 held Luger/Sullivan. Cage 3 was intended for Gangsta/Solution but they wouldnt enter the match til later once the match ended up in the main ring.

In 2000, with the success of Ready to Rumble, a new Tower of Doom cage was constructed that was "40 feet" to the top. This is the modern "Triple Cage match". David Arquette lost the WCW WHC to Jeff Jarrett after hitting DDP with a guitar. The bottom Cage required a ladder to climb to cage 2 which was filled with weapons and deemed Hardcore Heaven. The top cage was filled with guitars and the match was won when Jarrett retrieved the WCW WHC from the top of cage 3.

Later in Sept. 2000, Russo brought back the Triple Cage for "Russo's Revenge: War Games 2000". Kevin Nash def. Goldberg/Sting/Jarrett/Steiner/Kronik/Harris Brothers/Ernest Miller/Russo after Russo handed the WCW WHC to Nash after Goldberg was hit with the bottom cage door by Bret Hart. This match had the same rules as the previous Triple Cage except that a new man entered the match every 2 minutes and once retrieving the belt, it had to be brought back down through the cages and out the door on the bottom cage.

So actually, there were 4 Triple Cage matches in WCW, the final 3 were WrestleCrap worthy. The first was really decent.

Oh, and WCCW was the first company to use a triple stacked cage, as it was named the Triple Dome of Terror. There were a handful of these matches throughout WCCW's history, but to my knowledge, no video recordings exist. I'd still love to check them out if they ever popped up.

Ok, I feel like Noid now....

Team Challenger series is actually a pretty good idea if they did it today. They'd have to have title shots or something as the incentive for victory.

I can't really think right now how it'd be best executed but I think their is something there.

The Battle Bowl that came down to Luger and Sting is still one of my favorite shows ever. Just love that concept.

Surprised that the buried alive match didn't get any votes yet. The match was always cheesy.

I thought about picking that, but it's just that it always fit so well with Undertaker. He sold the character so well that it worked.
