A lot of the names listed are people who were never good at the pro level, like Braylon Edwards and Maurice Clarrett.
Baseball is probably the easiest one. I'd throw out Koren Robinson, Dominic Davis, as two NFL players who come to mind. |

Braylon Edwards had 16 TD receptions in 2007.

Sam Bowie, 1984 NBA draft.
Number retired by University of Kentucky, selected to be on Team USA 1980 Olympic basketball team, and makes NBA All-Rookie team during his rookie season (1984-1985) with 10.0 points per game and 8.6 rebounds per game. After his rookie season it goes all downhill with injuries causing his next 3 seasons to equal the games he played in his rookie season and never really went over 10 points per game in a season. Last 2 seasons with Portland he played a total of 5 games. |

He's no Koren Robinson apparently. Edwards didn't play for the Vikings so I guess he doesn't matter.
And Domanick Davis had 2 1,000 yard seasons. Last edited by Supreme Olajuwon; 02-23-2010 at 08:25 AM. |

Maybe I haven't been paying attention then. I always thought Braylon Edwards had largely been a bust since being drafted.
I guess I, like most people, don't pay attention to what happens in Cleveland. I said Dominic Davis because he was considered one of the top running backs in the league for a brief period of time before abruptly leaving. Fairly certain he's not even active anymore, and he is not even 30 yet. |

![]() Robert Edwards Rookie year (1998): Played 16 games (started 15) rushed 291 times for 1,115 yards & 9 TDs. Had 35 receptions for 331 yards & 3 TDs ![]() Blew out his knee during a beach football game during Pro-Bowl weekend. One of the worst blow outs I've ever heard of, almost had to amputate his leg below the knee. Ended up making a return in 2002 w/ the Dolphins, had 20 carries for 107 yards & 1 TD and 18 receptions for 126 yards & 1 TD. Never played in the NFL after 2002 (Although he did have some good years in the CFL). |

Absolutely hated when he got hurt since it killed the Patriots running game for a good 5+ years. They drafted Curtis Martin who was great then and when he went to the Jets in the Bill Parcells deal, they drafted Edwards and he looked to be the next great RB.

How did they create that hype though? By having one good year in college?
It's not like anyone posted a picture of Freddy Adu or something |

Surprised no Bruins fans brought up Blaine Lacher. 19-11-2 in his rookie year 94-95. Was out of the league by 95-96.

I'm a huge Leaf fan and I remember Gary Leeman who had never scored more than 75 points in a season exploding for 51 goals and 94 points and never scoring more than 17 in a season for the rest of his career.

Being consistent after having a record setting season is not a 1 hit wonder. A 1 hit wonder has a record breaking season, then fades from the fans mind within 2 years.
And you do realize you are comparing one of the best Russian players to play in the NHL(to date) to a completely average baseball player right? |
