First makeshift patch for the game includes a lot of minor tweaks and doesn't require a mandatory download notice. The first bug and fixes patch won't come until the Skarlet DLC pack arrives.

The pack is basically all the different costumes that were given away as pre-orders for the game (classic costumes for Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Reptile, Ermac, Jade, Mileena, and Kitana) and classic fatalities for Scorpion, Sub-Zero, and Reptile only.

Scarlet and Kenshi still set to arrive later as the 1st characters DLC pack.

I mean, you're gonna get your ass kicked. There are very few new fighting games. And even new IPs have mechanics that are tried and true. You will get your ass kicked. And from there you can do one of two things:

a) Buck up and take the beating, know that win/loss is not important to a newbie, and learn. The magic starts when you start to 'get' the game. Not win consistently, but 'get' the game. You go on learning it from there.

b) Or you could curse the game, blame it for your lack of understanding, shelf it or sell it, and move on. It's a downward spiral because all fighting games have universal concepts like timing, spacing, reading your opponent. And by casting off every fighter due to difficulty, you just hurt your self.

I know guys who just give up fighters at the first sign of losing. Then the next game comes, they play it, and then quit because they're losing. I try to tell them winning or losing means nothing compared to learning the game. That takes time. It doesn't have to be 'Kalyx spending 40mins in training mode' time, but certainly longer than a few games.

I get what you're saying, and that's both is, and isn't my problem.

I'm not saying you're doing this, so don't take it the wrong way. My problem though is people who act like someone doesn't "get" or "know how to play" a certain fighter just because they don't like it.

Street Fighter 4 for example. I'm not saying it's a bad game, but I don't enjoy it. My enjoyment level has little to do with how good I am at the game, or how much I practice. I'm just not a fan of it, it's not a game I enjoy. I have little doubt that I could practice more and get better, but getting better isn't going to make me enjoy the game more. Furthermore, it seems like a waste of my time to use what little time I do have to practice at a game I don't enjoy.

On the other hand, I enjoy the new MK a lot more. Practicing at it is more entertaining to me, and feels like a better use of my time.

So for me, it's not whether I "get" the game, it's whether I enjoy it. Sadly, people take themselves too seriously and assume that the two are related, which I find insanely obnoxious.

I understand you 100%, it's something I dealt with during CoD: MW. I simply don't like the design, and dudes figured I didn't 'get it'. So I played MW2 to lvl 60, having fantastic games on the way. Screwed with Blops a bit then left the series when I was reminded why I disliked it. But now people can't say 'Kalyx doesn't get it'. I understand that not everybody has the time to invest just to nullify an argument, though.

But I can tell the difference between dudes who leave a series due to tastes vs dudes who just hate losing. Night and day. And I deal with the latter quite often. I hate seeing lack of fighting spirit.
