What is the verdict chaps? I have decided to get back into Modern Warfare 2 recently, and my performance has been very good by my standards. Comfortably and regularly getting my killstreak rewards, performing well under pressure. I've switched to the TAR 21, and it's cluttered sights made me get over my aversion to using scopes, which has helped. The AA12 shotgun as a secondary weapon can get me out of a pinch as I usually don't come out on top in a knife fight. The use of scavenger has been an important part of the strategy - the psychology that I am going to need a lot of ammunition means I am always in for the long haul. The real difference is the replenishment of flash grenades, which are now a vital part of my strategy. I wonder if I should go for stun instead.

I would be tempted to go for Black Ops II but the thing that's good about MW2 is that it works very smoothly and I remember wanting to put my head through the TV with the amount of technical problems it had.

You will see a lot of pisspoor players using the FAL with silencer and target finder.

The lag isn't awful for me but Im only speaking for myself.

Fallen Angel, as usual, has a gift for overstatement regarding target finders. I've found that there isn't a single set-up that is overused or overpowered. It's probably the most well-balanced Call of Duty to date.

I've had no troubles at all with lag other than occasional host migration scenarios. But that's me.

ECG said somewhere about all europeans. On MW2 I am constantly up against europeans. The ones that don't let you know by rambling on in another language will then always choose a nationalistic flag and clan tag. They're also children and they do stupid voodoo things like trying to quickscope with an SMG. It's probably down to everyone playing the new stuff, and PS3s being far more common in Europe than the UK.

I'm still being murdered by lag. Barely playing the game now because it just got too frustrating. Dark Souls has made a comeback.

It's more if you watch replays constantly, there's a very distinct delay (perhaps as much as a second at times) between when you initiate an action, or pull the trigger, or whatever, and when it actually does it.

To the point where I watch killcams where I unloaded on a guy, and on his screen I didn't fire a single shot. The majority of them are really split second occasions where it could be just your typical network latency. Things they really can't help.

But a stupidly large amount of deaths are from what seems to be other people literally a full second ahead of me in game. Like they're coming around a corner and shooting before I even see them on my screen, and then I'll watch their kill cam and it shows them coming around and shooting smoothly and with no problems, oftentimes without my shots even getting off even though I shot several.

As proof of this fact, while playing multiplayer split screen, I have witnessed the delay live and in action by seeing the delay from when I shoot on my screen and when it shows up on my buddy's screen.

Etc.. etc.. rinse, repeat. Then of course there's the legit lag, with people jumping around on my screen like fucking crazy, which seems to happen regardless of the color of connections in the room. Could be all green and still rubber banding.

As I said last week, I actually had a game on Hi-Jacked where I was shot BEFORE I went round a corner ( from my perspective). It wasn't possible to be shot through the wall and the guy was shooting straight down the space in front of him. He must have been seeing a full half-second to second ahead of me for this to happen. I get killed quite often coming round corners almost immediately, where it's obvious I'm lagging but being hit before I could possibly see the opponent while he had a full gander at me took the biscuit. And as I said, I think it is a consequence of having a good connection and it's largelu dowb to a really shitty attempt to compensate for connection speed and latency because it's awful when I'm host.

I do use cold-blooded on most classes DUE to this. It honestly feels like I have to have it unless I want Stevie Wonder hammering me with 100 lmg shots everytime a hair of my crosses his screen.

Ridiculous at times. Have even called out a few people on it and one guy I even went so far as to offer a two week live code if he could go positive using a setup I made for him.

Left after he went 0-6 to start.

Reminds me so much of Thermal.

Otherwise like you said, sans lag which is just sad, this is the most well done game in the series.

I wonder if this has to do with spawns as well. Probably 1-2 matches a session I get killed before I spawn by someone shooting me. The killcam just shows me standing still for like 1-2 seconds before I start to move and its always when I have a two-three bar connection.

I've been having longer MW2 sessions and still thinking about getting Black Ops 2. Having a great session, and slowly making up for hours of poor performance years ago. Then I get kicked from the middle of a decent game, no big deal. Then I fall into a trap where I am being used as a replacement player for people who are quitting in a huff. About three matches in a row, I come into a game where my team is 2000 points behind and there's a harrier, a pave low and a stealth bomber up my arse. I try to stick it out, as I said it happened for three matches, but it always gives a bit of a comedown to a nice evening, and although stats don't really matter it feels like it erases a lot of my hard work. Of course, evading these things is half the game, but there's something about coming into the middle of a match that's extra disorientating.

Yup, this is exactly it. I have a really decent connection for the US. 12MB down, and I get faster sometimes. 1 MB upload which is pretty standard in most places in the midwest at least. Around here, 12mb is EXCELLENT (which is really terrible when you consider what google fiber is doing).

But I am constantly yellow in this game, and at times when I am hosting, it doesn't seem to make fuck all difference. I agree with you about their compensation.. Seems like they tried to anticipate it and fucked it all to hell and back.

From my understanding, upload speed is what's needed for a good connection. Hardwire your xbox, if you're on a router set up the QoS and funnel most upload speed to the system.

Also, Fangel, shut up.

I'm getting 4 Mb/s upload speed now and it's still shocking. I know a lot of people aren't having any issues but it's seriously fucked for me and a lot of others. At some point the developers have to take responsibility. We can all deal with a little latency but this game is absurd.

It hasn't been an issue for me neither. I can see the frustration though because when it happens to me it pisses me off. It seldom happens tho , I'm probably on the front end of the lag where the ppl I kill are the ones lagging

ECG plays on PS3. The lag is shit on PS3 90% of the time no matter how good your internet is. It is extremely frustrating.

I tried playing a bit again today and didn't finish a game. It's just too disheartening. It's impossible to play for me. I mainly play Domination and it's just not worthwhile when I try to flank a position, come up behind or from the side of people, and they are able to turn and kill me after my bullets tickle them a bit (or if I do manage to take out one person, I've used up a whole clip so have to re-load while his mate kills me). The number of assists I was getting after emptying half a clip into someone was getting me down as well, it sort of adds insult to injury.

That's not even true. If I really wanted diamond camo I would have it unlocked for all the assault rifles by now. The only "hard" part is getting 100 headshots, the ones after that just take a bit of effort to get.
