Why wouldn't the Reds use Cordero there? You tie the game off Papelbon you should probably throw your closer out there and try and win in the bottom half of the inning.

I do believe I've just seen the best tickets I'll ever have go up in smoke. The game was rained out, and they've scheduled a regular doubleheader tomorrow so people with tickets tomorrow's game get both games.

I'd like to give a big fuck you to MLB Scheduling for making the Mets fly from home out to the West Coast for a Monday game for the 2nd time in 2 weeks...if only they had a Monday offday they would have done a day-night doubleheader.

They pretty much are. Teams try to fit in a day-night doubleheader as much as possible because they can charge a whole new crowd for parking and stuff.
I just looked and apparently the tix for yesterday's game are exchangable for any 2008 Mets home game.....subject to availability. Meaning there's no chance in hell of ever seeing seats remotely like that again because they are probably sold out for each game.

Lincoln had worked the 9th pretty well and the pitcher's spot was first up in the 10th so I'm assuming Dusty was trying to save arms. Didn't work but what can you do

Wang out of action at least six weeks
Right foot injuries threaten to end Yankees ace's season

NEW YORK -- The Yankees' starting rotation has been dealt a serious blow, as Chien-Ming Wang -- the Major Leagues' winningest pitcher over the last two-plus seasons -- could be lost for the remainder of the 2008 campaign.

The right-hander was examined on Monday in New York and has been diagnosed with a mid-foot sprain of the Lisfranc ligament of the right foot and a partial tear of the peroneal longus tendon of the right foot.

Wang will be on crutches and wear a protective boot for at least six weeks, the Yankees said.

According to that timetable, Wang would not be out of the boot until almost early August, and would require additional time to return his arm to Major League pitching condition.

The evaluations were made on Monday at the New York Presbyterian Hospital Columbia Medical Center, with Wang being examined by Yankees team physician Dr. Stuart Hershon and Dr. Jason Greisberg, a foot and ankle specialist.

Wang's injury is the second Lisfranc-related diagnosis for the Yankees this season, a rarity considering injuries of that type do not normally affect baseball players.

Right-handed reliever Brian Bruney slipped and fell during an April 23 game in Chicago and injured the Lisfranc ligament on his right foot. Like Wang, Bruney was able to avoid surgery and is eyeing a possible return to Major League duty in late July.

ROFL. Hank Steinbrenner went on a tirade about how the NL needs to "grow up and adapt the DH" because his pitcher got hurt running the bases. He says having the pitcher hit was a rule from the 1800's and needs to be changed.

OMG, the Angels channel is the worst fucking baseball broadcast I have ever seen in my life. The announcers are terrible, huge homers, and talk about wins and losses for a pitcher like it's the most important stat ever "When you're 2-6, sometimes you don't even know if you're good enough to make it through an inning!" But in the 7th inning they did this thing where the announcers shut the hell up and the only camera angle they show is one from in the stands or something like you are supposed to be at the game. It is retarded. Also all of these fans stood up and looked into left field at the same like somethin was going on but there was fucking no explanation to this. If I was at that game I would be looking there too, what the hell.

Willie Randolph, Rick Peterson, and first base coach Tom Nieto all got the ax.

How Sandy Alomar Sr. survived is beyond me, as he's easily the worst 3B coach in the National league. I get that they value his knowledge of the game, but jeez, make him the Bench coach or 1B coach. I don't think I've seen a Met go first to third more than a few times all year, Alomar always tells them to hold at 2nd even when the outfielder doesn't have the ball yet.

But yeah, I have to say, awful job by Mets management on this one. You can't whip out the ax and hold it over Willie's neck for this long. They should have at least fired him before they go on the road trip to California.

The Yankees cant make a run with a patch work fucking rotation.

They better not make a trade. Adding Sabathia will not get them to the playoffs, but will cost them 4-5 top prospects. If they cant do it with what they got, they just better pack it in and hope to have a great offseason.

I dunno. If they added Sabathia they would be in a pretty good position. Pretty much the same position as we were before Wang got injured.

With that said, I agree about not trading the farm for Sabathia. I think the Yanks should obviously make a run at Sabathia if he's available but not at the price of a Hughes, Joba, Cano, etc... which it would probably take to get him. Cashman pretty much just needs to offer what he did for Santana, no Hughes, Cano, etc...If something like Kennedy, Tabata + doesn't get something done then they just need to leave the team as is. Its pretty much the same opinion as when the Santana rumors were going on.

I'm digging Manuel already. He's said Sandy Alomar will remain on the coaching staff as the bench coach, not the 3rd base coach.....changing the lineup.....vowing for more definitive roles in the bullpen.

That looks good on paper, but your going to have to give up 2 guys to get Sabathia, and who knows how Moose will finish the year (he has ben so streaky.) Im thinking more long term though, When Moose and pettite retire, were fucked unless these young guys pan out, and CC has mad mileage on him.
