Just watched all the fighting clips from that Isles/Penguins game Fucking incredible. Clips were from the Pittsburgh feed, their announcers blow.

The TV announcers definitely aren't the greatest - that's part of the reason I always listen to the radio feed. There's a reason Mike Lange is in the Hockey Hall of Fame.

lol @ Lemieux saying the Isles weren't punished enough and questioning whether or not he wants to stay in the league. Pens only had one player suspended and Byslma was let out of his suspension for some reason. Isles had 2 suspensions and a $100,000 fine. Shut the fuck up.

He should consider himself lucky the sanctions weren't tougher. Bettman is an idiot for not fining the Pens.

Are you serious the Pens other than Godard did nothing suspendable in this game fuck off seriously (who do you want suspended, Talbot for getting blindside Punched? Johnson for having a player fight one guy and then charge half way across the ice to fight him?, Tangradi for getting charged, eblowed and then punched repeatedly in the face as he was going down, btw you want to talk about bad Announcer's listen to the Islanders, they called the punch on Talbot as justifiable emotion and accuse Tangradi of turtling after getting his head smashed in and having no chance to even try to fight back, the Tangradi incident is one of the most disgusting things I've seen in years) . Pens only had one player suspended because the Pens only had one player who did anything suspendable (and he got the most games for it too)

BTW ignore the Pens announcers they don't know shit.

The response to this by the NHL vis a vis the Isles is extremely light. Islanders should absolutely be ashamed of themselves and I'm going to say the preemptively don't anyone mention Matt Cooke, Cooke is yes a dirty total fucker but he wasn't even playing, this was an organizational plan to play absolutely stupid dirty hockey, the suspensions should have been at least double.

I wish Gillies would have come back out on the ice after he left already. Take it to that fucker Godard, jumping off the bench. Fuck that shit. You guys want to play that type of game, dont come running off the bench when someone goes after your goalie.

I am also sick of Pitt always taking cheap shots that knock a forward into THEIR goalie, and then using it as an excuse to get cheap and physical.

That's what pissed me off the most with those retarded announcers. Orpik knocked Grabner into the Pittsburgh goalie and the announcers praised it. Same thing happened later in the game and the announcers bitched that Okposo charged into him, ignoring the fact that he was hit.

As for announcers...I think it is just who your teams is. the NHL is the last sport with true radio and Television voices for every market.

I hate everyone not named Rick Jeanneret. He is to me the best hockey announcer on the planet. But plenty of other teams fans HATE him.

Never said more Pens should be suspended - just that Mario should shut the fuck up and stop whining. Usually both teams get fined in situations like this so he's lucky the Pens didn't get any sort of monetary penalty. Even if they did it it wouldn't have been as much as the Isles', nor should it have been.

Anyway, I thought the suspensions were fine. Gillies' hit on Tangradi was comparable to Wisniewski's on Seabrook which received an 8 game suspension. Martin's was an attempted cheap shot, and given that the league has consistently (lol) based suspensions on whether the player was injured or not, 4 games isn't a terribly low amount. A lot of Pens' fans have whined about Haley, which I don't understand since he did nothing wrong other than making Letang look like an AHL defensemen. What Godard did was an automatic 10 so no need for further discussion there.

And seeing as how the league overturned both Bylsma's automatic one game suspension and his $10,000 fine, Lemieux really doesn't have a leg to stand on.

All of that is even ignoring the obvious hypocrisy of Lemieux questioning the integrity of the league and overall quality of play when he is the one signing the paychecks of cheap shot artist extraordinaire Matt Cooke.

All of that is even ignoring the obvious hypocrisy of Lemieux questioning the integrity of the league and overall quality of play when he is the one signing the paychecks of cheap shot artist extraordinaire Matt Cooke.

There was no fines on the Pens side because they were literally defending themselves the whole game. The Islanders sent out players with an intention to kill, simple as that. The hit on Tangradi incident is one of the worst dirtiest things I've seen and something Matt Cooke has never done, not once. The Martin blidnside was that close to being Bertuzziesque, it's just lucky Talbot saw him in time, also something Matt Cooke has never done. COkke plays on the edge and crosses that line into dirty way more then I like but he's never premeditatedly gone after people the way the Islanders did that night.

Haley fought a guy and should have been taken off the ice, instead he basically went from one end of the rink to the other to go after Johnson. Once you finish up a fight you are supposed to go straight to the box instead he went out of his way to go after Johnson, he instigated the fight

I can't totally get behind the Isles' announcers but that might be mainly because it is weird hearing Howie Rose call Islanders games on TV instead of Mets games on the radio.

For what its worth, it's being reported around town that Pens management is "not exactly thrilled" with the way Cooke plays - especially with the health issues Crosby is having - but they have no intention at this time to trade/cut him. If he's on your team you don't have to play against him.

The Isles are the Sabres bane lately.

Passed up a nice chance to cover some ground, but they still have games in hand on NY, Carolina and Atlanta.


Also, it makes me crazy that the Isles are barely able to stay afloat financially, and have the worst arena in sports, but won all those cups with so many legends. Like how does that happen? How does that team just ruin itself. It is sad.

I can't deny that the Islanders overdid it - but pre-meditation has always had its place in hockey. Everybody knew that Talbot was gonna be a target and be in at least one fight, himself included. That's just the way it is.

He was attacked 3 times in that game, 3 fucking times Martin, Konopka and then Hale

The Martin thing was close, Talbot saw it coming at the very last second and was able to brase of impact so to speak, plus 5 guys didn't pile on him breaking his neck.

Thinking about fights - I've been to many-a-minor league game where the fights seem outright staged. 40 year old skateboarder Mike Vallely suited up for the Danbury Whalers' inaugural game. He finally took the ice to start the 3rd period - was casually talking with the player next to him, and as soon as the puck was dropped they dropped the gloves and fought. So blatantly fixed. Mikey then proceeded to land on the ice awkwardly and broke his arm, ending his season.

As a Rangers fan I hate both the pens and the isles. That being said I dont agree with the sucker punches the isle threw but if they had to do it to anyone Im glad it was the pens. Amazing how much shit the pens try to pull then they cry foul. Even Crosby has tried to slew foot others, which is so dangerous, and then cry about legal hits. You dont want to get hit? I think you misunderstand. I dont condone the Islanders, I am just showing that Cooke can also be a huge piece of shit.
