Page 2 actually had an idea that I didn't disagree with: give every team in the lottery an equal chance of winning. The column said that is what they used to do, but it would still make a certain amount of sense.

I think the lottery is supposed to try to encourage teams not to tank the season when they're out of playoff contention, doesn't really seem to work though

To clarify, the lottery system I was referencing still only gives the top three picks away. So the lowest that the worst team could pick was fourth.

I dunno, MLB doesn't need to worry about it since the draft is so hit or miss. NFL seems different too because there is always such a wealth of good players that are almost sure-fire success in the first round. The NBA is just messed though, all over the place.

To win my LVP (Least Valuable Player) Award, you need to negatively affect a team in more ways than just "my eight-figure salary is killing their cap space" or "I drove into a parked car while masturbating to a porn movie."
You need to realize zero percent of your team's expectations, even though it traded a No. 1 pick (and a chance to take Rajon Rondo or Marcus Williams) to create enough cap space for a bench player who could save its best player's legs during the season. You need to be such a ginormous bust that your coach gave up on you within three weeks. You need to be untradable even though you have a reasonable salary ($21 million, five years). You need to become the albatross for a potential championship team that's single-handedly lowering its ceiling from an "A-plus" to an "A-minus." In other words, you need to be Marcus Banks.

Weird, Stephen A Smith and Tim Legler are calling the punishment too harsh and defending Joey Crawford. While I might not always agree with their opinions they both seem to be pretty knowledgable about basketball, but I don't see how the hell you could argue against firing him. A referee/umpire/official's job in any sport is to call the game with no bias against either team or player. He clearly has a bias against one team's best player so how could anyone know for sure if he isn't picking sides in every game he officials?

sleeper pick - Warriors over Mavs. Playing the best basketball at the end of the season generally translates to success in a 7 game series. I'm not sure but I wouldn't be surprised.

I've actually seen a few people pick the Warriors. They were 3-0 vs Dallas in the regular season and the only team that the Mavs didn't beat.
