Lesnar is stunned that yet another guy kicked out of the F5 multiple times as if it's never been done before.

Assuming Mania ends by around 10:30, seems Sapp was right about Mania's length but off in regards to both nights.
Still 8.5 hours long but not split evenly like Sapp reported. Also means this year's card had 20 matches if you include the No DQ and 24/7 matches. |

It's like the dude got taller as an adult too. When he was younger, I thought he was quite "lanky" for a bad-ass wrestler. Like, obviously in shape and shit, but he was in his early twenties and shit. In his thirties he is like this chiselled god of a man.

I am so happy that McIntyre is WWE Champion but FFS stop with this format of matches. Especially for your world titles.

It kind of sucks for Drew that there's not going to be a crowd to do the "3-2-1" before the Claymore, but I had this vision of Drew doing it anyway and Paul Heyman just screaming "NO!" between each one in classic Heyman fashion so there's some sort of build-up in tension.

How effective is the f5 when you can take 3, get up and kick the other guy 3 more times?
And blah it's over. Good for McIntyre. Inconceivable he would've been seen anywhere near this level when he was in 3MB. Shame it happened in front of nobody. |

Drew won.Better move spamming fest than the Universal title match was last night. Night 2 felt similar to Night 1 in terms of feeling more like a long RAW than Mania but arguably weaker in terms of overall match quality. The Last Standing match killed too much of the show's flow. Mania itself was decent to average overall. Too many useless matches but at least it was easier to sit though because of the 2 night aspect. |

I love Brock as champion, because I don't watch this shit all the time and he's fucking amazing and still the most credible guy they have, but I always think there is an opportunity to do more with him away from the belts as a special attraction. It's just a shame that all their guys get snake-bit -- whether that's the company's fault or theirs (Seth didn't help himself, for example).
Always feel like a Brock without the belt could end up deranged and attacking Daniel Bryan randomly, which could lead to another classic. Wouldn't be opposed to Brock fucking up Braun and winning the Universal Title to set up something with Bryan, but that would definitely have the feel of "here we go again," and everyone on the internet would whinge. Feel like they should either have Brock be the bully and pick a fight with someone and just not give a fuck about his "prestige" as a gimmick anymore. Use him on SmackDown to murder Drew Gulak or something, or give him a break until you decide you need him again. He's got so much value, but I think Brock as the champion that drops it to the babyface flavor is something they should be done with. |

Brock in NXT would be hilarious. Adam Cole makes some snide comment on Twitter, Brock finds it disrespectful, goes down and decides to fight the entire Undisputed Era. THAT would be them trying to help their ratings.

Don't blame him. Not sure if diverticulitis is something that fucks with your immune system or not, but I don't blame Brock if he doesn't want to work in this climate. He's got kids and I don't know if he's got elderly relatives or friends.

Holy shit, saw Edge and Randy Orton went for 36 minutes. Bless Edge for wanting to prove that he's there to go, but that would be excessive under normal conditions.
The match should have been Edge getting some babyface shine on Orton for a bit, Orton taking over, doing some shit to Edge that hopefully doesn't put people to sleep, whacking Edge with a steel chair and Edge blading. Orton beats on Edge a little bit more then goes to piledrive him on some concrete. Back body drop counter by Edge, babyface comeback with Edge getting eye-for-an-eye on Orton, tries to hit Orton with a steel chair but Orton evades and gets the RKO. He's relieved it's over, Edge kicks out, Orton tries to do what he did to Edge to put him out, Edge comes back steel chair to Orton, Spear, that's it. I think a big problem with that match is that even with a crowd, they wouldn't have been able to build the drama in it. They get way too concerned with the heat and are way too confident that their shit doesn't drag. Bret vs. Vince, Cole vs. Lawler, Bryan & Shane vs. Owens & Zayn, Triple H vs. Batista. Sometimes less is more, and when the fans really want to see the babyface just kill that fucking heel dead and you've build up the program well enough, the heat is already there and you can pay it off without the fucking walk and punch or endless chokes just to milk time before the babyface does anything. Maybe do a spot where Edge thinks about piledriving Orton and getting his back, but unless Orton is taking time off, have Edge decide he is better than that before beating Orton. His post-match promo can be "I want you to remember that I showed you mercy for the rest of your career. But don't mistake mercy for weakness. I spared you because I have a wife and kids and I want them to see me as a man, not as a worthless piece of shit that needs to stoop to such levels in order to get ahead. If you ever put your hands on me, my wife or anybody else I have an ounce of love for, Randy -- I won't let you off next time." |

Only reason he bolted early last year was due to him not wanting to wait backstage for like 5-6 hours before his match would have taken place nor wanted to stick around for any post-show partying after midnight. |

Eh, don't blame him. He wasn't in the main event, so whatever. Vince went through a period of having World Title matches open the show anyway.
I was more disappointed that they half-assed the build for Brock vs. Seth. There was actually a really good story that went back to the cash-in and Seth's growth as a wrestler, but they didn't tell any of it. |

I don’t know what I just watched. I enjoyed Cena vs Wyatt as a short film on the recent history of wrestling. But I also came away thinking “Why would I keep following this weekly?”. It’s just occasional niche “so bad they’re good” films. And the champion they crowned at the end is nowhere near as engaging as the wrestling guys I know of from the past. Wrestling is desperate. And also shitty in general.

Also, it’s weird that whenever I mention Rock or Austin or Hogan or even Cena, to explain why Drew McIntyre as a champion is the lowest standard ever, I get shit for making the standard too high. Like... did the human race just stop making likeable humans at some point? If the standard got that low then maybe we just need to give all the titles to Marco Stunt, have a good laugh and watch the world burn. Go big or go the fuck home.

I like Drew, for the record. I hear on the issues with him. He is very...Randy Orton like. He's not the most lively personality in the world. I think he's very good though. So, I dunno -- I thought he was booked tremendously well at the Royal Rumble, but he probably does need to bring something more forward. |

Based on Wikipedia match times, the Last Man Standing match between Edge and Orton was the 2nd longest match ever in Mania history.
Surpassed the previous #2 which was the "McMahon in Every Corner" WWF title 4-Way Elimination match from Mania 2000. The 4-way match was 36 minutes, 24 seconds long while Edge vs. Orton was 36 minutes, 35 seconds long. Last edited by Emperor Smeat; 04-06-2020 at 02:11 AM. |

Yeah, Seth Rollins was also massively over-pushed from the get-go because WWE forgot how to make stars in advance.
And Drew McIntyre is not even on Seth Rollins’ level. At this point the game is “How many nobodies can we put over Brock before these people stop taking ‘toppling the beast’ as a meaningful accomplishment”? I say we try the Uso on the right next year. Why the fuck not? |

Okay, just watched the Firefly Fun House:
I don't know what I'm supposed to feel. I don't feel anything, really. It felt like a bunch of angles and promos that could have been used to set up a match, but John Cena was in on it? Like, he acted like he didn't want to be doing it, but it doesn't make sense. So Cena was in on it. That's the only way it makes any sort of sense. So Cena basically just had a mid-life crisis, faked wanting to fight Bray, and instead just did a bit of cathartic theatre with him where he basically turned heel and hated himself before disappearing? That's the only way I can reconcile this with the idea of wrestling at all. As a fan of John Cena you're supposed to feel cheated, right? That's the only way this makes any sense. I feel stupid even using the word "kayfabe" with this. But if you want to look at this as wrestling, this has got to be a jump the shark moment, right? This is them completely moving away from any semblance of these people are doing anything but acting out a script. I don't know how you are supposed to believe that Drew McIntyre winning the WWE Title after this means anything in a world where Cena and Bray just did that. How does that work? So it's got to be Cena false advertising a match with Bray...for some reason...then doing that thing with him...for some reason. I know I'm going to get shit for trying to apply logic to it and not just sitting back and enjoying the cute references. I don't get why the Bischoff stuff was there other than a metaphor for Cena being Hogan and snapping and becoming a bad guy because the fans never embraced him. But this genuinely feels like a point where everything just jumps off a cliff and there's nothing to any of this anymore. This is the complete departure from wrestling. This is where it's not what it was. They referenced Bray vs. Cena from six years ago, and treated that like it was a real fight, but this is where it swerves off and is just...bullshit. It was supposed to be bullshit. Titus O'Neil was even scripted to be confused by it. This is just...not the same thing as wrestling. It's not wrestling. But it was tied to what wrestling was. I don't know. If I had to describe my feelings, I'd say it's a quiet anger and complete defeat. I feel stupid for ever emotionally investing in...anything. There's no turning it around, there's no coming back, nothing mattered. I've probably felt that for a long time, but I feel like wrestling at least had the courtesy to not slap me in the face and leave me with my memories. Nah, anger isn't the right word. It was just a video package. Wrestling is now a video package of things that you used to like but can't give a shit about anymore. They just cannibalized the whole industry for me. Even though they kind of pretended the old stuff was real, this stuff isn't. I'll probably find the words and just say "This was fucking stupid" later. Not stupid in the sense that Bray's "story" wasn't good, just that I can't possibly be expected to invest in them after that stupid. What even are they now? |

I'm VERY curious to hear what Cornette thought about Taker vs. Styles and "Cena vs. Wyatt." Especially because he loves Taker, Styles and Cena. I can't even imagine him being mad at this. It's just...so different from what wrestling is.
