What's real and what's not? Like, what's supposed to be real? This is weirder than some of that Vince Russo bullshit.

I think I've settled on just accepting it as promo material for something that's never going to happen and never was, and a "heel turn" for Cena and fuck you to the fans before he goes to Hollywood forever.

I get the story they were telling with the fun house. Interested to see if they actually have Cena change from it or if he comes out tomorrow on Raw smiling and going aww shucks like he did after WM28. Interesting thing with Styles/Taker and Cena/Wyatt is what would they have done if they actually had a match in front of a stadium full of 70,000+ fans. Taker/AJ could have pretty much accomplished the same thing in a buried alive match with interference from druids/Good Bros and some shenanigans/high spots on the stage. I have no idea how they’d tell the same story with Bray/Cena...unless they did those weird ring overlay graphics with audio like they did vs Orton a few years ago.

Problem with AEW is that I’ve been conditioned to not pay $50 for PPV. I honestly don’t know if there is a card good enough to have me drop $50 anymore. Just not as hardcore of a fan as I used to be.

Pro Fight Database has Triple H at the top spot with around 475 minutes.

Taker is #2 at around 459 minutes.

Makes sense since while Taker has the most matches at 27, Triple H had a ridiculous long stretch of time where he either had the longest match or was in the Top 2/3 for longest match at a Mania.

Not really. They've got Matt Hardy teleporting and The Young Bucks talking about how it's all bullshit. I mean, you've got MLW and ROH, but they're not really major enough. There is no major North American wrestling promotion in the world. It's weird.

This was like Cena appearing in a Piper's Pit where instead of smashing a coconut over Cena's head to set up a match, Piper and Cena just spent some time talking about how shit the fans were and how cruel the wrestling business can be, except it had puppets, costume changes, videos and metaphors. That clicks it into place for me. If this is how they plan to settle actual grudges now...good lord.

I think Edge/Orton would have been better in front of the crowd. Last Man Standing matches are always plodding because of all the near-counts.

If they had advertised it as Cena appearing on the Firefly Fun House, I would have gotten into it more. I can appreciate the storytelling there -- the history and the analogues. I just wish they hadn't set it up as an actual feud. That invites you to think about it as actual conflict, which is just bullshit.

It's too risky for his Hollywood career to take bumps and risk delaying production schedules. If he does anything "physical" it is going to be with crash pads and special effects.

And there's nowhere to go with this. It was a cooperative segment where he acted out his "dark fantasies" in an esoteric promo. He could come out on Raw and be a heel, but are he and Bray going to be a tag team? Why did he use Bray for this stuff? This was just a theatrical segment on the show so they could use John Cena's star power and just hope the power of their "Entertainment" overshadows the feeling fans have that they got screwed.

Cena probably chose Bray because he is genuinely impressed with his promos, work ethic, attention to detail, etc. Figured they could do some smoke and mirrors stuff and he could give him the "rub" he didn't get six years ago. It's a way for him to do a match without actually doing a single physical thing, and a way to say "goodbye" and feed Bray's gimmick of changing people.

If you’re willing to suspend your disbelief and come up with your own story to make shit make sense to the point where you’ve decided “Cena was just acting with Bray therefore it wasn’t THAT unrealistic” then... fuck it.

Jericho was cool with the camera edits that made it look like Matt Hardy teleported. He wanted Matt to LOOK supernatural so that he would look better when he beats him. All totally logical. And it just includes a guy being cool with some quick edits and not agreeing to spend days filming a match that he ends up losing to his bitter rival.

AEW wins the logic war.

I think we all agree Brays losing streak still stands since that was clearly unsanctioned just like Taker/AJ

Goddammit, Noid.

He's gonna throw in the towel, I reckon. He'll go into a rant about how it's not wrestling. But I can't see him even being offended anymore. It's just so far gone that it won't even hurt his feelings, haha.

You know what? You're right. I shouldn't have to do that. Maybe I should be more angry at it? I dunno, I just can't make sense of it otherwise. I can't honestly believe they expect me to believe that they I thought Cena was stuck in some sort of imaginary world controlled by Bray, can I?

I feel like Cornette is not gonna have much to say about Taker. He’s said before that Taker is the one guy who can make a character like that work and when compared to some of the other shit Taker has done, with Cornette involved even, a literal burial even if it’s filmed like a low-budget horror flick is nothing.

The Cena-Wyatt match on the other hand... yeah... That’s gonna be a fucking epic rant.

Because they keep doing the bad shit they need to backtrack from in the first place. Everyone could have told them that Matt teleporting was an awful idea. They still did it. Fuck them. And it's like every other week. They are STILL trying with The Dark Order.

I dunno though, he loves him some Cena too, and I can honestly see him disassociating it so far with wrestling that he's not even going to have any anger towards it. That's kind of how I felt watching it, anyway. Well, when Cena was doing the Ruthless Aggression spot I was like "Nooooo...." but then I was like "Well, I guess it's just a fucking promo spot thing." Maybe he'll be heartbroken? Will be interesting.

I think he’s more willing to shit on a Cena story than a Taker one though. He’s also expressed loving Bray Wyatt. He reviewed a Firefly Funhouse segment a few weeks ago and said it was ridiculous but Bray is so good that he may just be one of those guys who can make the ridiculous work. This match though...

From what I've seen online, most people didn't like the Dark Order at first (myself included). However, once they started with the cult recruitment vignettes, a lot of people (myself included) started warming up to it.

Wrestling fans are so finicky, nobody can truly know what's going to be popular until its released. Who would've thought the Mandy Rose and Otis storyline would've been as popular as it has been? Knowing when to push through and tweak things (Dark Order) and knowing when to outright abandon things (Evil Collective or whatever the fuck) is a pretty critical skill, and right now, AEW has it figured out.

Matt teleporting (being projected) sucks, yes. But they're trying to have fun with an empty arena. WWE did teleporting on Friday (to better effect) but it still happened. I don't mind everyone thinking outside the box to entertain us right now. That's why we got the extremely fun Taker/Styles match

Haven't seen the Firefly Funhouse Match yet. It sounds...insane. My big thing is that you can buy it is two guys having a legitimate fight. I don't mind them doing sets and shit for some of them, because it's the WWE and they've got that money and there's a fucking virus keeping them out of arenas and shit. The Dark Order sucked when they started. After the vignettes started showing up, and they put a shirt on Evil Uno, things got more interesting. I agree with Cornette that Brody Lee should be on his own and Jake should've been the exaulted one. But this is what we've got. And I'm willing to give it a shot. The fact that AEW at least acknowledges its short comings and tries to course correct is something. It's certainly better than just shoving it down the audience's throat without accepting it's not working.

Note: Noid doesn't really watch AEW, he just randomly attacks it for attention on here.

He likes Bray’s promos, but I’m not sure he’s sold on him yet. Watching it again, it definitely does feel like it’s intended to be legit. Like Cena was actually there to fight Bray. I’m trying to think whether or not that would be the stupidest thing they’ve ever done, or if it belongs right in the same realm as Hornswoggle, Papa Shango, Taker murdering Bearer, etc.

Wrestling is so fucking dead.

This is a whole bunch of bullshit. The Dark Order sucks and they’ve made a Brodie Lee unwatchable because it’s a Tony Khan idea and he’s going to get it through, dammit.

Teleporting is stupid regardless of where it is. WWE doing something doesn’t justify someone else doing it if it’s a bad idea. People want an alternative, not WWE Lite. There’s no way anyone could think that was a reasonable idea. You call it “out of the box.” That’s the kindest fucking cop-out I’ve ever heard.

Otis and Mandy is a fucking cutesy love story between a big nervous guy and a hot blonde. That’s not really an alien fucking concept. Or an actual alien. Or Orange Cassidy. Or Joey Janela. And at least it’s a story told start-to-finish. Whatever did happen to Tully Blanchard that time he got tied to a chair? Michael Nakazawa and his beatings. Did Christopher Daniels ever get revenge on Pentagon? They are guilty of the exact same stop-start, 50/50, wtf bullshit as WWE. You can be biased and like but not the other, but don’t tell me they are different. It’s all intelligence insulting bullshit.

I wanted AEW to be good so bad. They fucked it up for me. Go enjoy it with 600k hardcore fans if you really want to, but it’s not good. We have a saying over here: Don’t piss on my leg and tell me it’s raining.
