Give credit to a good team who could've put 7 past us, for goodness sake.

When it was 3-1 it pretty much summed it up quite well, throwin in their half, they can't control the ball, give it away cheaply, Germany cut through 80% of the pitch in about 4 passes.

If they do end up playing Argentina it will be interesting as they're not exactly tight at the back either. Both teams built to counter-attack, think it might be close.

They were absolutely brutal on the counter-attack. I could be wrong on this but don't the majority of the German players still play in the Bundesliga?

Yes. They took a bad 2006 and built the youth up and maintained rulings in the Bundesliga to play x amount of domestic players. A rule that should be in every league in every continent and as I said, the youth is what England need to do. Build it up now.

Yep that was what I was trying to point out. Until Setanta Sports was accessible in Australia recently you couldn't really see much of the Bundesliga here but since I've been watching Setanta I've realised how much of a quality league it is. England desperately needs to 1) find some younger players and 2) play them like the Germans did this World Cup.

Their defence didn't look so good. Just we never fucking attacked them. If we didn't have James, it could of been worse. I can't believe they kept Upson in and more tot he point got him man marking.

Now that I checked it, there's only one player that plays abroad in the German team for WC, and he didn't even play this match.

It's no coincidence the English team has been in decline ever since the Premier League started to spiral out of control, but so long as it keeps making MONEY (supposedly)...

You never know another 4 or 5 world cups like this and they might realise that England haven't had a good side in a long long time.

I did read it, it was nonsensical bullshit. Somehow because I'm a Wolves fan and I have 12000 posts on here you seem to have imposed on me some sense of entitlement or superiority because I disagree with what you're saying.

And as we all know good players make good managers right? Oh.

There's a list I could give that would say it would pretty much balance itself out, if not agree with good players making good managers. You can't do much more than Pep Guardiola. He wasn't an amazing player, a good player and I think he's gone past good manager.

I wouldn't say Beckham is an amazing player, or was. I don't think Amazing players make good managers, but I guess Maradona is aiming and might just make us re-think. But as Beckham is a good player, I do believe he can do a Ferguson, Ancelotti, or even Le Guen (at Lyon!)

Well Argentina scraped through qualifying, so I wouldn't go overboard. But he has the core of a very good team and arguably the best player in the world. England don't, hence it would take a very good manager to get them up to that standard.

Besides which there's no evidence he even wants to go into management. He'll probably just stay in LA and do the odd appearance on Cribs or whatever.

I agree, and he's said that before. But just seeing him through this world cup and in the few interviews he's had, he comes across as though A) he could do it, B) He actually wouldn't mind giving it a shot now. I dunno, maybe being that side of the fence has made him look at his post-playing career differently.

BTW, Ince isn't ready for management at all imo. He should be an assistant for a few years. I think what did him was all this "Black manager" bollocks. He ascended too fast and to far up for what he is capable of. Right now anyway, who am I to say he won't lead Man Utd or something to the title 20 years from now?

So, who's the scapegoat for this latest disappointment then? Unlike other years, the tabloids have a choice:

Gareth Barry, Matthew Upson, Assistant Referee, Fabio Capello, Wayne Rooney or other?

Both the ref and Capello, cause he's the best paid manager at this WC.

I'm really hoping the Mail can blame it on the paparazzi that chased Diana down the tunnel in France.

The Germans weren't that good -they just exploited our weaknesses so easily through simply plans and level-headed ideas. For me, no-one other than James deserves to be free of criticism.

For all the talk of this England team having loads of experience and this being one of the youngest ever German teams at a finals they sure looked nervous out there huh?

In theory being able to keep your head and play to your best isn't something that should be highlighted as exceptional, but until our players can demonstrate they can do it we probably should laud the Germans.

Don't get me wrong, I am disappointed that we're no longer part of the world cup; but I'm relieved that Germany banged in another 2 goals. I couldn't tolerate months and months of idiots moaning about Lampard's "goal".

The England players won't care. They have plenty to look forward to when they get back.

Gareth fucking Barry is on £150k a week.

There's your problem. The English players mentality.

Who cares if they lose? Only the fans. And most of them don't support the clubs they play for.

England need a manager who will say 'fuck you and your money, if you don't want to play, then fuck off'.

That man is either Roy Hodgson or Harry Redknapp.

Ah yeah that must be it, I hear they keep the Germans, Spanish and Brazillians on minimum wage to offset the dangers of that happening. England are not a good team. If he ends up leaving England will be far worse off.

Not at all. The players abroad on that type of cash have achieved something. We celebrate mediocrity in England. Players like Barry who are average at best get £150k at their clubs so why should they give a shit about losing for England.

It doesn't mean enough to them.

The English players mentality.

As for Capello, we've just been destroyed by a decent German side. Frankly, if he can't do better with our so-called 'golden generation', I don't want him anywhere near our young players.

The players had no sense of togetherness, they clearly didn't like the system being played and there was open revolt against him.

I'm sure you have some reason beyond 'England are not a good team' that would justify him carrying on?

England not being that good a team is the reason they've gone out, no idea what the team has to be called a golden generation. You've Cole who is proper top best in the world quality then Rooney and Gerard just behind him who'l never be as effective for England as they are for their clubs because their clubs are set up to their strengths. After that it gets average fairly quickly Sure hes made some odd choices like persisting with Heskey but every England manager loves big Emile for whatever reason.

To suggest Beckham would do better by giving them passion is nonsense. I can't think of anyone who'd entertain taking the job that would do a better job than Fabio.

Whoever is the next manager (if there is going to be a next one soon) should, IMO have prem experience.

Looking at the last lot of managers, none of them have manager in the prem or know the style that suits those players before they come in.

My shortlist would be:

Hodgson
Redknapp
O'Neil

Any of those guys know English football inside out, know the players already and what they are capable of and have that passion that's been missing from our team since the 90's

I kind of hope Redknapp gets the job and fails as it would be hilarious to see Fleet St tie themselves in knots trying to criticise him when they normally can't remove themselves collectively from his rectum
