Rizzo is still saying that Strasburg is done at 160 innings this year. Gonna be funny if they choke away a playoff spot or something because they shut their ace down during a Cy Young caliber year.

Ok, upon further inspection, and the fact I never got text updates for last nights Orioles/Pirates game, Supreme is correct and the Pirates are one game out from first in the NL Central. My mistake.

Stephen Strasburg picks up another win, his 5th straight.

If we think he's good this season, next season he's going to be just spectacular. He and Gio are going to keep the Nationals winning games for years and years to come.

R.A. Dickey with a 1 hitter. Even the 1 hit was debatable. 1 run allowed, unearned. 12 strikeouts. During the game he completed the longest scoreless streak in Mets history. Incredible. I love watching this guy.

Great performance today by Doubront who took a no hitter into the 6th before Miami finally got a hit and a run.

Red Sox hitting really broke the game wide open in the 8th with 6 runs and most of those with no outs.

Big news was former GM Theo Epistein finally took some blame for the problems the last few seasons and the mess from this season. Before he tried to shift all the blame to Tito and others before scrambling out to Chicago. Also admitted that he won't try to force a "win it now" approach any time soon with the Cubs after learning from his mistakes the last few years.

Mets are appealing BJ Upton's first inning hit, saying it should be an error on David Wright. If overturned, Dickey would have the second Mets no hitter in 2 weeks after the team had gone 50+ years without one.

However Collins, Dickey, and Wright have pretty much told everybody not to hold their breath. Too close to call. Don't see Selig awarding a retroactive no-hitter. If he wouldn't award a blatant perfect game, he's not gonna award a no hitter.

Probably just the baseball gods evening things out after the Beltran call from Johan's no-no.
