Yeah I'm taking at least 6 QBs before Manning (Brady, P. Manning, Palmer, McNabb, Brees & Rivers) if not more.

Yeah...Eli is good...but $120 million? Can he invest some of it in having Phil Simms teaching him how to throw into the wind in January?
Like I said though, the market for quarterbacks has become like the market for starting pitchers in baseball. Cassel and Stafford are getting really huge deals given their current situations/amount of playing time/experience...so any young (but still veteran), established QB can command a 9 figure contract extension. |

lol making the coaches run laps is amazing
I may want to start following the Broncos closer. Still pissed about not taking Orakpo and trading the first rounder next year for Alphonso Smith or whatever. And the blocking tight end in the second round though |

Smith is by all means first round talent. Problem is he's about 5'9", and you know the NFL and it's height bias. I've read things that say he should've been a top 15 pick and is probably the best cover corner in the draft. Now he just needs to prove being worth it. Having a good offseason so far. Ayers is ridiculous. Just do yourself a favor and look up anything on this guy. Classy and talented. Choosing to wear 56 to honor Al Wilson isn't too bad either. He missed about the first week of camp holding out, and on his first day in played so well he was bumped from 2nd team to first. Quinn is one I can't defend too well. Will be a good eventual replacement for Graham, but def would've been there with our next 3rd. No sense trading up. McBath and Bruton, as with most of the rest of our rookies, serve one big purpose. They'll be fixing the one consistently broken thing with the Broncos forever, special teams. Several of our rookies were special teams aces, but McBath and Bruton also have the ability to push to start at S in the next couple years. Kenny McKinnley has been awesome in practice and is being regarded as the next Royal. Just training camp, but nonetheless nice to hear about a 5th rounder. I'd also suggest looking at our undrafted class, just as good as our drafteds. Check out DL Rulon Davis (ex-marine) who has won every after practice team sprint since being signed. DL Everette Pedescleaux and DL Chris Baker (who's now pushing to be starting NT) among others. Too many people shitting on this team for not looking good on paper, and I was one. But just studying up on what McDaniels has done so far shows he may just know exactly what he's doing. He may need to learn draft pick value, but he'll get there. |

I don't mean to rain on your parade, but everyone is overly optimistic this time of year.
Anyone looking forward to HBO's Hard Knocks? They're doing the Bengals this year. It starts next Wednesday August 12, 10pm est. |

Although he has overhauled the atrocious defense from last year and got Moreno, so that is a lot of positive. Also, I know this may sound stupid, but in a way I'm glad he got rid of Cutler. He is a very talented qb and all, but his attitude was terrible, and McDaniels managed to get a pretty good deal from it. I think a lot of people underrate Kyle Orton and he is going to surprise a lot of people this year that expect him to fall on his face and the Broncos to fall apart because Cutler is gone. However as tough as the schedule is with Indy, the Pats, Dallas, Baltimore and Pittsburgh I don't expect better than 9-7 at the absolute best, but I don't think 8-8 or 9-7 is outrageous. |

I believe they are actually going to be a bit better than last year, who knows they may even move the ball inside the red zone this season. I don't know how good of a coach McDaniels is (he's apparently not to good at drafting yet) but I'm willing to give him a chance. Some of his changes have been rediculously over the top for exposure, but they seem to be in the right direction.
However I seriously think the Raiders may win the division this season. Just little things I've read about their camp I believe they may be this years surprise team. I believe they may get 10 wins this season and that probably will be enough to win the AFC West. |

Eli's deal is finalized. 7 years, $106 million. $35 million guaranteed. It's actually a 6 year, $97.5 extension added on top of the $9.4 million he was gonna make this year.
Not as much money as I thought, but still enough to make him the highest paid player in the NFL. Got a lot to live up to this year with both starting wideouts gone. |

Bellichek apprentices make horrible head coaches.
Shows how great a coach he is...Hard to say that...but the dude grind through assistants, and they leave and suck, makes me think its all him. |

I think its more of he probably doesn't teach all of his ways and thinking as a coach in case he was to ever face one of his assistants in a game. Besides Weis and Rommel, he looses his assistants quicker than other teams. I think Mangini and McDaniels only had about 1-2 years of being a head assistant coach under him.

That's true, but I'm thinking that out of sheer numbers odds are one has to be successful. I'm hoping it's McDaniels. He reminds me of the type of guy that may not fully grasp what he's doing, but kind of stumbles onto success. Kind of like Mr. Magoo.

I've just heard of all those guys working under Belichek since he often drafts players from schools they are coaching at. Don't really know too much about what their role was to be honest. No need to be disgruntled in the NFL thread Bills fan

Saban was DC in Cleveland so he had a pretty close relationship with Belichick I'm sure.
I think Mangini still has potential. |

I honestly don't care how coaches under Belichick do once they leave, unless they come back to the Patriots or coach Boston College or something. I was just throwing some names out there that I've heard been influenced by him. No idea why this dude is getting so heated.

Harry Douglas out for the year.
Roddy White wants Larry Fitz money. Its a huge blow that we lose Harry for the year. Sure its easy to say its no big deal he's only a slot receiver, but he helped make our offense that much more potent. Maybe now we can possible go out and nab Marvin Harrison for a one year deal? its possible. As for Roddy supposedly wanting Larry Fitz money, I mean i can't blame the guy. Now I'm not saying Roddy is at Larry's level yet but the guy should get paid. Last year we shelled out a 4 year deal to Jenkins, now its time to take care of Roddy. Money should not be an issue here. Pay the man get him in camp and let him and Ryan continue to grow together! |

Michael Crabtree is willing to sit out this season and re-enter the draft if he doesn't get a contract as big as Darrius Heyward-Bey's which was $38 million.

BOOYA Mr. Burgess, he will be taking Pierre Woods spot as starting outside linebacker.
Went to practice tonight, in-stadium event thing got a hook-up with the lottery to go on the field after. I got a weird ass pose going plus its from my razor phone which was all the rage in like 2003 but whatever. ![]() ![]() Last edited by Jesus Shuttlesworth; 08-06-2009 at 11:55 PM. |

Didn't even realize it was gonna happen (thus lack of a real camera)
It was an event for season ticket holders, which I've gone to before (dude I used to work with had the tickets and wasn't interested in practice) but this year the lottery got in on the deal since they are releasing a Pats scratch ticket soon. After practice was over they let the people with tickets via the lottery go out on the field. My boy's family owns a liquor store so that's how we got on the field. Pretty sick, it was also good because it was kinda limited, so there wasn't like 4,000 people running around like nuts. Mad convenient store owners there though that really fit the stereotype if you smell what The Rock is cookin' so to speak |

As a Ravens fan, I was relieved somewhat the AT hasnt amounted to much in NE, at least not worth the money he got IMO. I know he was hurt 1/2 of last season but in 07 his numbers weren't all that great for a full season and they were off a bit from 05/06 with the Ravens.

Won a Superbowl with Colvin, he was pretty solid. I don't think anyone expected him to be a star. I don't think Thomas has lived up to the expectations of his contract but I think he has still played well. It's unreal how explosive he is though, they did pass rush drills right in front of us at practice and nobody touch him. Especially the undrafted free agent guys, I kinda felt bad for them lol
