Honestly, I think the product is in better shape these days than it's been in the last ten years. Daniel Bryan is doing some of the best work of his career as a heel on Raw and SmackDown. It's become destination programming for me when he's on. Not to mention Punk on top, Ziggler and Cody Rhodes.
Say what you want about this current era, but every era of pro wrestling, even the much beloved attitude era, has great stuff, good stuff, and outright horrible stuff. To pretend the attitude era is some untouchable level of high-brow genius is just being a nostalgia whore for the sake of it. |

Incorrect. Being DVLH is being a nostalgia whore for the sake of it.

Daniel Bryan is perhaps the greatest character in the history of the WWE. That's only slightly exaggerated.

He still needs the horns of a ram and fleece to accompany his Viking music and goat face

Fair point, XL, but without him, I'd never know who beat who in some Japanese promotion I never heard of before.

Nah, Daniel Bryan's character is slightly better than AJ's. I like that AJ has somehow made her crazy chick endearing to people, but the Bryan character is the genesis of it all. He's the root of all evil, and the cause of destruction for this poor little girl. He's still even somewhat trying to manipulate her.
I think that Daniel Bryan versus someone representing AJ's well-being would be perfectly deserving of the SummerSlam card. Right now, Kane seems like the best option. Have someone like Derrick Bateman got to bat for AJ (perhaps because Kaitlyn still cares so much about AJ), which also has the "you dumped me as your rookie" angle. Bryan dismantles Bateman, so then Kane comes down and takes it to Bryan, telling AJ that he has no interest in her, but he's going to make sure Bryan learns some respect for her. In the Attitude era, this would have led to Kane having an implied threesome with Kaitlyn and crazy AJ, but I'm not sure where it would go in the modern era. Hopefully Bryan can make Kane submit at some point in it, and bounce back for perhaps another opportunity to face CM Punk or John Cena over the fall season. |

Bryan's heel character generates good heat! Telling her he wishes she wasn't born was absolute cruelty. In the PG Era, it may either go with Kane as a superhero savior to the two women and they would fight over him, or in a Russo twist, Kane ultimately locks the women in the freezer with the corpse of Paul Bearer.

Idk.. I'm not a big Bryan fan.. Since recently watching again, I watched past ppvs and stuff and gave all of the new roster guys who weren't there 3 years ago a chance. I just couldn't get into Daniel Bryan's character he's boring and doesn't look or wrestle the part.
