They could match him up with Overeem upon his return, which could also work IMO..

The options are very limited at HW..

p.s. these ranking are from 4/22 also, so it wouldn't surprise me if Nelson jumps Overeem in the rankings after last night..

With Jones looking like he'll be out for an extended time, I'm guessing we'll have Gus/Machida for the number one contender spot..

Chael needs to go into commentary. If the UFC doesn't put him in the booth it would be a shame. I'm not talking about the version of Sonnen we see before fights, I'm talking about the version of Sonnen we saw on TUF.

Jones is a beast. It's amazing getting to watch guys like Jones, Silva and GSP. These are the greats we'll be talking about 20 years from now.

As far as the LW's go, I'd say lets see Healy get a rematch with Thompson.. Or him vs Melendez..

As far as Miller, it's really hard to say.. Maybe rematch him with Lauzon (amazing fight) or match him up with a striker like Cowboy, cause it seems subs have been Jim's downfall as of late..

Personally, I think the refs should nip it in the bud as soon as guys start extending the fingers towards the face..

Watch the first Kevin Burns/Rumble Johnson fight.. Burns uses open handed left hand strikes and literally poked Rumble in the eye three times before they stopped it.. Should have had a point deducted for the second.. I know it will happen specially when guys are trying to push off or stuff a shot but I don't think the gloves should be changed, I thinks it's the officiating..

On that topic, Kevin Mullhol should never be allowed anywhere near an mma event again.. Horrible job by him all night, first with the early stoppage, then with Belcher's ankle wraps.. As Rogan said, it makes you appreciate guys like Big John and Dean..

I don't see how that would be a huge step down at all. Those rankings are a stupid measure to go by and Dana has said he won't even follow them. The UFC match making has always put winners against winners and losers against losers. Nelson is closer to a title shot than Overeem, plus, I'm pretty sure Big Foot Silva was a huge step down for Overeem according to those rankings and look where that got him.

I think it would be a lot more competitive than Overeem who we know lacks a chin and would probably roll over and die if pressured by Cormier's wrestling.

Belcher is a prick man, froze yet again in a big fight. Guy is so good but only shows it against the jobbers.

This event just pissed me off. Glad Nelson won but ugh at everything else.

His last "real" loss was over 5 years ago.. I know he "lost" to Sexyama but anyone who actually watched that fight would disagree..

I dunno. There was that fight on the prelims that got stopped b/c the guy got slammed and broke his thumb and the opponent was awarded the victor via doctor's stoppage.

I think it would have depended on the cause of the injury. If it was due to a hole in the canvas like Jones said, I think it would be a no contest, but if it was incurred as a result of the action and Jones wasn't able to continue, I think Sonnen would have gotten the W.

Actually, neither one of us know what the hell we're talking about. I just read the rules on the UFC website and if a bout is stopped before 3 rounds are completed in a five round fight due to an accidental injury (which I'm assuming Jones injury would be considered) it's a no contest.

If the accidental injury was discovered in round 4 and the fight was stopped, it would have gone to a judge's decision so the title would have been up for grabs.
