Apparently her character is called smith, though that’s probably a placeholder or an alias she uses in the film. Chastain revealed the character is from off world, so my money is on Shi’ar. Maybe Deathbird.

It's strange since there's a multitude of female X-Men who could have had all her character arcs in the First Class era (except in Days when Raven's mutation was very important to the plot).

An in depth movie of Jean becoming Phoenix would have been way better than her becoming Dark Phoenix. If you're basing it off the comics.
