YEAH. WHAT. Just beat the suppossed best team in the Olympics. I guess all they really needed was to play together for a little while. Pissed that I missed the 4th cause I had class. If they play the next two games like today, it's going to be tough to beat us.

Well Pau Gasol isn't half as good as Tim Duncan, so of course if we played together we should have beat them. For the media to claim any other team has more talent than the US is lame, if they can put it together they are still clearly the best team out there. Now just to put it together.

(Note: That wasn't a rant on Loose Cannon, I am referring to the media)

A huge travesty is Melo only getting 35 seconds at the end of the 1st half and the announcers claiming that Odom is a better post player than Amare.

The thing is, though, they're calling the game the way the NBA used to call it. I was watching an old Pistons/Lakers game from '90 on ESPN Classic, and the referees were calling traveling! And they whistled Isiah for a foul when he used his off arm to hook around somebody (Scott?) so he could drive. NBA referees are pussies now. The international refs still call fouls, which I think is great.

The game shouldn't be decided on fouls though. I think calling more fouls is more pussy then not calling them often. It's an aggressive game and guys will get bounced around. Fouls just make the game that less exciting. Just let them go. Not prision rules or anything though.

And Wadding, I read on Yahoo that Marbury tied Barkley's record, not break it. Don't know who's right.

Also, I haven't been playing real close attention, but Dwayne Wade isn't doing real hot is he? I hope people don't hold him to those crazy expectations for next year with Shaq, he's so young and isn't as good as Kobe at this point. He will someday be really good, but I think people are setting pretty high standards for him in his sophomore year.

Wow, Could Spain's coach be any more of a sore loser? I know everyone hates USA, but do me a favor and shut the fuck up. He was complaining about the ref's using NBA rules for calls, he said USA doesn't even deserve to be in the medal round cause they lost two games, he said Spain was the stronger team. Well your teams been playing together for god knows how long and the US has been playing together for a couple of weeks. He also said the public mostly supported Spain because they were the stronger team. Yeah, ok buddy. It's not like the Olympics are in Europe or anything.

I have to wonder, do you think this is like the Argentinians version of "Miracle on Ice"?

It also makes me wonder if when the United States "Miracle on Ice" took place if the CCCP team was in similar conditions to the Americans this year.

Just heard they lost. Pretty messed up but I am not really surprised. They aren't a team, while every other team is. The USA team's 13th-14th guy are better then every other teams 2nd or 3rd guy, and even on some teams better then their 1st guy but they just weren't a very good team. They don't play team basketball, and other countries are making vast improvements so we can't just put 13-14 nasty players on the Olympic team and except to win everytime anymore. After team USA defeated Spain I thought they turned it around though, and I figured they would pull threw and still win gold. Pretty surprsing their only CHANCE is bronze now, and that isnt even certain

Nah, BCWWF this wasn't their miracle on ice. Argentina beat the US in the 2002 World Championships, so it's not like they've never done it before. Thank God we will never have to suffer through another Larry Brown coaching job at the Olympics. He was awful.

I dont think you can blame Larry Brown, the players have to play the games. There wasn't enough time for any coaching staff to create an extensive gameplan, they had to rely on the athletes to bring it every night, which they didn't.

People can make excuses all they want, but this was a failure in every sense of the word. I mean you look at the US girls, and they play pro ball and nobody is using the "we dont play together" excuse or the refs or the coaching or anything, they just went out and won.

Well they explained it afterwards. Basically the international rules says that you have to put a timeout on the board before it is actually called. The US threw the ball away and they put the TO up to discuss breaking the press, but there wasnt a dead ball for a good 3-4 minutes I'm guessing, so they forgot about it, and then play stopped and the timeout was called.

Something to that extent. Spain's coach overeacted just a little bit.
