What an amazing show, basically, it rained during Slayer and we got soaked, but were blessed with no rain for Priest.

I've never seen so many people at the Molson Amphitheatre before, it must have been close to selling out. I was in the 2nd row, and you could see people as far back as you could see.

Hellion - Electric Eye: A black cloth covering the eye in the center of the stage lifted as Electric Eye started. The metal god stood absolutely motionless while he sang the first two verses, it was like looking at a picture. He remained there until Glen's solo. Rob then appeared to the left of the stage and remained on the stairs for the rest of the song. Glen's solo sounded fairly loud from the 2nd row.

Metal Gods: They went right into Metal Gods. Rob's voice sounded much stronger on this one than on the album or any live version. Rob stayed on the stairs for the whole song, moving back and forth, then doing a quick spin when he reached the end of the stairs. Glen's solo on this one was much louder, it looked like he asked for his volume to be raised between songs. Rob and Glen especially were showing large smiles between and during songs.

Heading Out To The Highway: Rob then greeted the crowd, and left the stage for Glen and KK to begin. Rob's first big scream came here, and it was loud, piercing, and effortless. Rob was nearly struck in the head with a beachball sometime around here, but was singing with his eyes closed and never saw it.

The Ripper: Again this song sounded much better than on any bootleg from this tour. Rob stood between Glen and KK for the beginning. The band seemed amazed at how many people were clapping in the middle of the song, and how loud they were. They looked amazed several times throughout the show.

Touch Of Evil: Rob came soaring in on the high rise to the left of the stage in his bath robe. I thought it would be a slow ascending to the top of the stage, but it took him less than a second, the platform went up pretty fast. The crowd was shouting out this song as much as any other, even though it is probably the least publicized song in the set. Rob was up on the high rise to the left for the first part of the song, then moved to the right side. Glen's solo could be heard perfectly.

The Sentinel: Glen and KK went to the center of the stage to start this one, and it seemed more powerful than ever. Rob then entered from the left. His screams in this song were the loudest yet, they were very crisp. Rob would bend down and put his hand on the mic stand while singing, it seemed like he was putting his entire weight on the thing, it was shaking all over the place. The dueling solos were wonderful, although I could not hear KK's leads as loudly as Glen's.

Turbo Lover: The crowd also enjoyed this one. Rob wandered the stage throughout the song. He would walk toward the front of the stage and do little twists back and forth, waiving his hands around. There was a kid no more than 5 years old singing the words to this song on somebody's shoulders, it's the youngest person I've ever seen at a show.

Victim Of Changes: Rob did wonderful here. He went over to Glen and Ian and was headbanging along with them while KK was soloing. One of the best screams of the night was towards the end of the song. By this time Rob had changed jackets 3 times or more. Glen's 1 note solo actually worked, the crowd got really loud as he walked across the stage doing it. And he looked amazed at how loud they were.

Diamonds and Rust: They brought out the acoustics, and before GLen and KK could start in, the crowd was yelling so loud they couldn't begin. This went on for 2 minutes or more, and they just sat there smiling. It was the loudest crowd I've ever heard. The crowd sang through the entire song with Rob. I believe Rob changed to the all black shiny jacket here.

Breaking The Law: Rob just started right in with "breaking the what," no british steel introduction. Rob went over to grab a pick and they joined instruments. The crowd got even louder here, and they sung they entire song. Never once in the entire show did Rob mention or motion to the crowd to sing louder the next time, they were loud from the beginning. At the end when Rob and the crowd traded back and forth singing the chorus, the crowd was just as loud as Rob. Except of course for his scream at the end.

Beyond the Realms of Death: The disco ball came on here. Stars shined across the electric eye background. Rob added "it's my fucking life, I'll decide not you" into the song. When Rob sings "slammed the door" you can hear a loud slamming of some sort, it's on bootlegs too. I'm not sure what they use to make the sound. It was obviously a Priest crowd that knows all the material, because they knew all these older songs as well as the popular 80's songs.

Green Manilishi: Rob introduced this one by giving one of his high screams "The green manilishi." This is the first time I've heard him introduce the song this way. The crowd sung the harmony at the end and again Rob seemed impressed at the edge of the stage watching. Rob incorporated several spins, kicks, and other assorted body movements throughout the night.

Painkiler: The strobe lights went crazy for this one. Rob leaned over with his hand on the mic stand, all you could see was his bald head. No death growls here, all high notes. After Rob's scream "killer" toward the end of the song, he just started yelling at the crowd and pumping his fists, he looked like he was going crazy. I've never seen him this energized before. He was yelling at them as loud as he could, not into the mic of course.

Hell Bent For Leather: Rob came out on the bike, shining in his all metal jacket. I don't think he could see as his hat completely covered his eyes. He remained on the bike for the whole song.

Living After Midnight: They went right into the next song. The crowd was obviously loud on this one. Rob again seemed surprised at how many knew the words and how loud they sung. Rob shined across the stage as the lights reflected off his jacket. He was walking across the front of the stage for most of this one.

United: The crowd was pleased to here this one. It's a pretty simple song, Rob hung out in the middle of the stage for most of it.

Another Thing Comin: Rob was not tiring at all, he sung this as good as Electric Eye. During the beginning where he has the crowd mimick him, he had them mimick such things as "judas fucking priest." There were other things he said but I have forgotten, but it was much different than most of the bootlegs so far. At the end Rob came out and again was yelling furiously at the crowd and waiving his arms all over and shaking his head. He seemed over excited to be there. Then he pointed to everyone and said "I love you" and then ran off the stage.

I have never seen a band happier to be on the stage, nor a singer sing as high, loud, clear, and consistent as Rob.



I'll add that Slayer sounded great.. in top form. My cousin came with me even though at the time he didn't know much of Slayer or Priest. After the show he told me that out of all the shows he's seen (Smashing Pumpkins, Aerosmith, Foo Fighters, and a whole lot more I forget) this was the most amazing one he's ever seen.

Alright, I can see how welcome I am due to my low post count. But please elaborate, asphyXy, on (a) how "Gothenberg" Machine Head "went" on their new album. Frankly, I tend to think that Killswitch Engage's new album sounds much more "Gothenberg" than MH's...but hey, who knows.

Besides that fact, (b) the few previous albums that MH put out were complete swill compared to the newest one. So please, if you could for such an ignorant buffoon as myself, elaborate on your opinion.

Secondly, being metal or not, I enjoy Hatebreed. Not everyone dictates their musical tastes on black metal, metalcore and the like. Take into account that not only are you not aiming your post at some 15-year-old-snot-nosed-punk-kid, but that I pride myself on not simply the genre I listen to, but the variety of genres that I'm capable of standing.

When Vio-lence broke up, Robbbbb Flynnnnn wanted to keep his thrash roots alive. He pretty much did that with "Burn My Eyes", as it had some really awesome thrash songs. It also had its share of pure dog shit. This came out in 1994, and became the precursor to mallcore groove-pseudo-metal. Pantera were doing this quite successfully, but they stayed metal.

When "The More Things Change" came out, Robbbbb Flynnnnnnn decided that it was cool to be influenced by Korn, thus losing their right to be associated with thrash. There are barely any riffs, and the vocals are damn near rapping. What's that? Rapping over downtuned chords? Hmm... it's 1997. Seems like the "in" thing to do.

Then there's "The Burning Red". One of the worst albums of all time. Why? Because yet again, Robbbb writes the songs based on what is currently "in". No creativity here at all. There are zero memorable riffs. The vocals are fucking hilarious. This is the shit Linkin Park fans eat up.

"Supercharger". The new Machine Head album to put them back on the metal map. I don't remember exactly when this came out - it was a few years ago. I remember downloading it. I listened to the first song and all I heard was "Burning Red" pseudo-riffs. But wait... what's that? Never mind, the two or three thrash riffs that exist on this album aren't enough to save it from being utter shit. Try again next time, Robbb...

...Well, maybe he shouldn't have tried again. Their newest album has no direction at all. What are they trying to be? Shadows Fall is pretty popular these days, and they're considered "metal", right? Robbbbb, take note. Nu-metal is going under, and Gothenberg is in! Same shitty songwriting, but now with MELODIES!

Robbbbb, those melodies sound awfully generic.

Robbb says: "Don't worry, we're going to be creative and have HARMONIES!"

Wow, Robbbbb. That is creative. I can only think of 4000 bands that rip off Gothenberg by using harmonies. Good job. Mallcore and Gothenberg mixed into one. Groove riffs and melodies do NOT mix, especially when they're the most generic of their respective classes.

Machine Head has always followed trends. Gothenberg is the latest trend, so they start adding harmonies in the most inappropriate places.

As for Hatebreed, they have no talent.
