Gonna be so badass. My doubts lessen with each batch of promotional material that comes out.

I feel like the interest in this movie has grown way past the fanbase too. People who are completely new to the concept and material (average moviegoers) are really interested and pumped about this movie.

I love the buzz this movie is getting. I never heard of watchmen till I saw the trailer during the Dark Knight. I went and bought it after I saw the trailer and loved every minute of it. I am as excited now much as some of you guys who read it years ago.

I read the comic book...and i lost some interest. Every character would be the character I love if they were in seperate stories, but they are all in the same one. It would be like if Bender, Master Shake, Starscream, Bart Simpson, and Peter Griffon were all in the same show trying to out jackass each other. It just wouldn't work when no one is a straight man.

Also, there was an air of predictableness about the book...maybe it is because it has inspired so many other stories I already know. It would have been much cooler if I read this before I got jaded.

Can't wait to see this, I really had my doubts about it but after seeing the first trailer I was amazed by how well they pulled it off. I always thought Watchmen would be ruined if it would be made into a movie, but Mr. Snyder convinced me. I really love what they did with the NBS news and Keene Act shorts and I can't wait to see Under the Hood as well.

Unlike any other movie I've ever seen, both visually and structurally. Loved it so much. Brilliant.

This post is one big spoiler. Probably skip it if you wanna be surprised.




Ok. Saw it. Very good. Snyder has to be commended for making this film, and making it work. I enjoyed all the actors, even Malin Akerman. The two that were head and shoulders above the rest were Jackie Earle Haley and Billy Crudup. Simply put, Jackie was Rorschach, the same way that Heath became the Joker. He was great in the mask, and even better when it was off. His death scene was great. Crudup nailed down Dr. Manhattan. The voice especially was pitch perfect, not what I would've imagined Manhattan to sound like initially, but absolutely right. Matthew Goode was excellent as Adrian as well, which I wasn't expecting.

There were a few moments they included that weren't in the book that I loved. Dreiberg's utter destruction of the guy's arm at the beginning of the fight with the Topknots was great. Rorschach pulling on his mask and asking the shrink what he sees. And maybe my favourite moment of the movie, the shot through the swinging bathroom door of Rorschach advancing on Big Figure. Awesome.

There were some things I did not like, however. I thought the whole Dan/Laurie romance was handled very hamfistedly. The sex scene aboard Archimedes with Hallelujah in the back ground was one big facepalm for me. I was annoyed at the truncation of Rorschach's origin. I understand it's necessary to cut things down, but I dunno how you get rid of Rorschach's speech as he watches the house burn (and I dunno why they found it necessary to change how Rorschach kills the guy either). Some of the dialogue didn't translate as nicely to the screen as I would've liked, but it happens. There was a little too much slow motion for my liking, and not just in the action scenes. I disliked that all of the characters seemed like superheros in the fights, what with knocking the bad guys back 10 feet per kick, and getting thrown around like rag dolls. The whole point is supposed to be that they're just regular humans doing this. I can buy that they'd be in peak physical shape, but it was a bit much to have Ozy throw Rorschach across the room like 20 times.

And the ending. Need to think more about it, but not a fan at the moment. I knew for a long time that the squid would be gone, and I was fine with it. But the idea of framing Dr. Manhattan changes the entire tenor of the ending. I guess it's still the same in spirit, but a few too many liberties were taken with it.

All that said, I still loved it. Beautiful to look at visually. Once again, I commend Snyder for making the translation as faithful as he did. I'd imagine there were some battles with the studio over a lot of things, but he pulled it off. Kudos.

I think I know why they changed the way Rorschach killed the guy in his origin. In the comic, it's almost a word-for-word reenactment of a scene in Mad Max.

the holygrail isn't open for criticism though.

I kid with the most respect possible. Don't get me wrong, it's the greatest graphic novel ever, and one of the best peices of fiction ever. Period.
But the way people can be is ridiculous. If people went into the graphic novel originally looking for flaws and inaccuracies the way they go into a movie like this, I'm sure they'd muster up some gripes.
This goes for any sequel, adaptation, or remake of something where considerable time has passed. The original becomes untouchable, and the descendant is scrutinized in a "guilty until proven innocent" fashion.

I absolutely loved this movie. I didn't read the novel, so I can't tell what they changed. Everything about this movie was great. The music was perfect. I loved the opening montage. It didn't have the same feel as Dark Knight, but it was damn near close. It totally didn't feel like 2 hours 40 minutes.

And yes, I whacked it to Malin Ackerman after the movie.

Absolutely fantastic movie. I'm pretty amazed they were able to keep it as faithful to the comic as they did (in spirit, if not to the letter). The opening montage alone is worth the price of admission.
