I'm cautiously optimistic this may be a Punk heel turn.

We can't be sure yet, however. The St Louis crowd was booing CM Punk during his promo with Rock and Daniel Bryan, so it may be part of the "Chicago/St Louis" rivalry, who knows?

Or they may just like The Rock so much that they'll boo whoever does anything to him.

But if Punk does indeed turn, awesome.

doubt they're gonna have King putting over Punk "turning on the WWE Universe" if that's not the direction they're heading

I wonder if the whole "incident" Punk had at the St Louis airport was all a part of this.

Only reasons I hate the heel turn are A) I prefer Punk as a "straight shooter" and not a typical cheating heel like I feel like they're going to make him and B) He's not gonna be able to be put over as "the man" as a heel. He's basically a lock to lose the title to Rock at Rumble so we can have Rock-Cena two at WrestleMania and Punk can continue to be out of the picture.

I really want a good new guy to be put over in the main event at WrestleMania and Punk was that chance. Ah well.

I would prefer Punk/Rock for Mania. idkk with this it's almost a lock it will be at the Rumble. Hope not, maybe Punk can lose title beforehand and challenge Rock for it at Mania

Punk losing it to someone like Show or possibly Lesnar with Rock's help as payback for tonight, the new champ going on a warpath before losing it to Rock at the Rumble and Punk winning the Royal Rumble match to challenge Rock at WM would be awesome.

That is one reason I see him doing what he did. The Rock comes around a few times a year, gets a WWE title shot, and has a chance to main event WM yet again and CM Punk (looked as the new guy to be put over in the main event) AGAIN has to take a back seat to Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. I think he took the opportunity to lay a message to The Rock. I don't see how we are shooting the gun to think he has turned. Didn't Cena hit the Rock suprisingly before WM 27 and nobody labeled that as a heel turn? I can't wait to find out next week why.

I HOPE they're going that direction in a Cena-Rock style feud. Punk's reaction as he walked down the aisle and Lawler's comment though makes me worry...

No way a heel Punk beats Rock unless there's shenanigans. And I don't like the idea that they would spend all last year trying to get the fans to cheer Rock's face nemesis because he's a face and now they'd be trying to get people against Punk because he's heel.

Punk's gonna get cheered still. They have what they wanted last year with Cena in Punk. A guy who can actually make for a dynamic crowd reaction. I'd prefer them to just roll with it. Having the guy you want as your future getting cheered as he takes out The Rock would be an amazing way to put him over.

As a heel, I can't see how he doesn't just become old CM Punk and be the typical "either cheat to win or lose" heel and as we've seen with The Miz, that doesn't really get guys over.

Rock's gotta put someone over at some point. It's gotta be building to the ultimate rub. I'd prefer that to be a face Punk.

Not to mention the fact that I can't see how/why they would have Rock just go over Cena AGAIN.
You couldn't see why it made perfect sense the first time....however I do agree him going over again (and Cena not being affected/no change in his character) would make zero sense.

Alright... I'm not buying the whole "We can just call whatever match we want a main event and have it be a main event."

The main event is the last match on the card. And even if you do wanna call whatever other matches are on the card the "main event", the last match on the card is the last match for a reason. It is not equal to the others. The point is they wanna end it on a peak. A high note. And there was NO way Punk was gonna do that. He was so far off it would have been ridiculous for him to MAIN EVENT WrestleMania against anyone but Cena, Rock... that's pretty much it.

As for now I'm holding out hope that they are going with a new age of "anti-hero" with him as opposed to a full heel turn and make him the victim against Rock stealing the spotlight.

Basically re-do Rock vs Cena from last year but with a guy that most of the crowd might actually get behind against Rock.

First thing I thought of when he walked out of the ring dejectedly while Rock was running in was when Eve told Punk how he'd been overshadowed all this time by Rock, Cena, Lesnar, etc. a few weeks ago.

The end game here is great. Rock as champ vs Cena (losing most likely) and then Punk as heel vs austin.

This is just Jericho again. Too much hoping on my part.

Who's losing most likely? Cena or Rock? Can't see any way Cena loses against Rock for the title at WrestleMania. Rock's not coming back full time and for him to have a reign longer than just Rumble to WrestleMania, he'd have to. Not to mention the fact that I can't see how/why they would have Rock just go over Cena AGAIN.

Im saying Rock loses. Puts cena over, evens then up, and puts the title long term on a full time guy.

punk can heel it up, Austin comes in, wins one more and its over.

I doubt they can keep this up for 3 hours for long... If they actually had people WRESTLE and had multple angles entertwined, some stables, a tag and diva divison. Them a 3 hour Raw could work. Oh yeah, they may need to get rid of Superstars...

Punk beating on Rock isn't shocking like WWE intended it to be. Rock's just been fighting Cena for the past year, the biggest face ever. The only thing that made it clear to me that it's a heel turn was King saying he's turned his back on the WWE Universe. Otherwise I wouldn't know it at all.

Great RAW this week. Might have been short on matches but tonight was all about celebration. Loved all the obscure references and Slick's face when AJ rejected Bryan.

Punk turning heel and a feud against the Rock will really benefit him especially after the Bryan-Punk feud which had amazing matches ended last week. Did seem weird he was unwilling to take advantage of Cena getting KO'ed but moments later clobbered the Rock for no reason.

Cena winning the case seems like a cop-out or wasted too quickly since the streak didn't end nor Cena didn't get the title either. Him wanting a regular match and Big Show's first run in would have been the perfect way to end it.

What do you mean the streak didn't end. They can no longer say "Every time the case has been cashed in, we've had a new champion." I thought that was the streak?

I guess now they'll start saying "every time it's been cashed in the champion has lost."

Depends on wording the WWE uses from now on but technically the streak still is active since everyone who's cashed has won their match. The only change now is the case no longer guarantees a title but everyone who's had it is still undefeated.

I consider it as a cop-out moment mostly because Cena still won which doesn't give him the negative status as the first MitB winner to lose his match while the WWE can now use the actual loss for someone else like maybe Ziggler or for a future case winner.

Great RAW, even though I too was expecting and disappointed with a lack of Austin.

I think Punk can do a great job as a heel, with his own version of the arrogant, bitter, "overshadowed", "top" company guy, who can actually work and talk, ala Jericho.

Not having Austin appear was baffling to say the least.

Hope Punk plays this as an anti-hero like last year after the pipebomb. Will be interesting to see how it plays out.

I'm actually in the minority as well as its not a heel turn, he just doesn't like the Rock coming in for the spotlight. Makes sense. I find it hard to believe they would put him on the Video Game and give him is own DVD soon only to Heel him now. We will see what happens next week with No Rock. That spot was done for Rumble.

keep the belt on Punk, have him go over every babyface in the company not named John Cena, even have him go over Triple H or something at say Survivor Series, Show as his henchman, Austin costs him the belt/"evens the numbers" because of something planted between them beforehand at the Rumble, Cena wins Rumble, build Austin/Punk and Rock/Cena, Big Show gets involved in Austin/Punk at Mania, Vince shows up and "levels the playing field" with a chair or something, Austin over, Punk doesn't look bad, Austin/Vince drink beer, Cena over Rock clean in the main for the title and we're golden. We out

I wonder if at Summerslam we'll see Rock/Cena vs Punk/Big Show as a way to keep the storyline going and keep The Rock "tuned up" as it pertains to actual wrestling (especially in front of a live crowd).
