That is what the playoffs are about though, Dallas got a huge advantage by busting their ass in the regular season - they got to play the lowest seed in the west and have homecourt advantage through out the playoffs. If you want to reward the best teams in the regular season why even have the playoffs?

I am failing to see any argument you can possibly have here

It's quite clear. The NBA does not have enough good teams to support a 16-team playoff format. Even in this one, totally abnormal year when an 8 seed beat a 1 seed, Golden State still had no chance at winning the championship. They got blown out in the second round. Why not just cut the shit out and actually reward the teams who did well in the regualar season. Considering the fact that teams with losing records have made the NBA playoffs each of the last however many years, I don't know how you can argue that having 16 teams is even close to neccessary.

Cut out the eight worst teams, put more emphasis on the regular season and don't waste your time waiting for another fluke like Golden State. Yeah, it was somewhat cool at the time, but since they accomplished absolutely nothing after beating Dallas, who gives a shit?

Your whole argument is based around low seeds doing well all the time, and that cannot be further from the truth.

So you want to make it like baseball where teams truly have no chance at all of ever winning?

Knicks made it to the finals as an 8th seed I think like 8 years ago, I dunno - teams have absolutely no shot of winning I guess so why not make it interesting? I'm personally not a big fan of regular season champions, especially when the season is 82 games long. It's not like it was unfair and the Mavericks had to play the 2 seed in the first round or something. The playoffs are the most exciting time for any sport - why limit them? I also don't get how you can say Golden State had no shot of winning the championship and somehow the Mavs did - when the Warriors beat them in a 7 game series. It's not like they upset them in one game or something.

They could make it so the top 16 teams make it regardless of conference, that'll never happen, but I think that could be better. However, it would be impossible to schedule the regular season fairly due to the number of teams/number of games. (Since right now, West teams play West teams 4 times, and East teams twice and vice versa)

It's fine the way it is.. actually it would be better if the 1sy round was still 5 games. I'd probably make the 1st 2 rounds 5 games..more chance of upsets. But it would be stupid for the NBA to limit to 8 teams in the playoffs overall..I mean I understand that some teams that make it have a slim chance at a championship but the fact that they make it to the playoffs is an accomplishment that helps them rebuild for the next year, and it helps the teams raise ticket prices for more revenue

Let me tell you something about this Detroit game. On the last drive by Lebron there was very minimal contact that could have been considered a foul. But let me tell you who is the idiot here.

Mike Brown. I understand you get upset about your team. But let's say that Hamilton makes both FT's. You still get enough time to get out of bounds and try to do a quick play. But the problem is, his technical results in a free free throw (pretty much automatic with Billups) and instead of being down 1 with a chance of the lead being 3 at max, you are done 2 and if Rip makes both you lose. Just another reason why Mike Brown is not a great coach
