Doesn't really make sense for this to not end in a submission. If there was a pin I can imagine it was a botch. Or WWE are just really keen to go back to Becky/Ronda sooner than we think.

So Becky got a roll-up and Ronda kicked out but they counted the three anyway? That's a pretty weak way to crown a babyface.

Becky's apparently been a good factor for ratings lately. The general show is going downhill, but apparently she and Ronda have been holding it together. That being said, she might make even more of a difference if people actually believed in her, and you told the story the way it's going to have the most effective impact in rewarding fan investment and proving that you're not going to lame-duck her as champion.

People are complaining about how long WM was but G1 started officially 1/2 hour after WM (730) and only ended right about midnight so basically it was 1 hour shorter.

Pretty close. Women's 6-man tag and then they did a 30-man Rumble that went around 45-50 minutes.

WWE's very lucky they got Saudi money now since they blew like 5 years worth of pyro budget for this show.

Mania itself was surprisingly very good overall and the best since Mania 30 or 31.

Toss up between Samckdown Tag title and WWE title for my match of the night. Also toss up between Women's Tag title and Reigns-Drew for most disappointing match.

Yeah, but why not just do the moment at WrestleMania where it really counts? You can do rematches later. You can do Submission/I Quit later on. This time one-on-one. Ronda's not going to forget that Becky handed her her first lost in professional wrestling. That's reason enough for a SummerSlam rematch. If you put Ronda over, there's your rubber. You don't need to keep holding back in order to milk this thing for two/three more matches, possibly more if you factor in them for multi-person stuff at Survivor Series and/or the Royal Rumble.

I think WrestleMania was good overall but just too damn long -- a trend that started at 32 they really need to reverse before 36

If that seriously wasn't a botch, then we certainly have the next potential screw job. I mean the way Ronda reacted, as surprised & upset as she was immediately after, no way she is that good in selling a finish with this little experience. Either the ref botched that count or it was done on purpose. Charlotte was out of the ring for something that was nowhere near devastating enough to "take her out of the match." Something just isn't right there on that ending. And I cannot believe that WWE creative is that good right now to come up with that set finish.

If you limit Mania to 9 matches, MAYBE 10, including the Kickoff, then you can actually emphasize who is important around this period of time. You're only realistically selling interest in a few different things. That's your show. Other shit can happen on Raw or SmackDown and it's better luck next year as to whether or not you're actually going to be important enough to feature.

And what do you even get out of being featured if it's in something people don't care about? It also backlogs the important stuff so that it doesn't have the impact it needs either.

Observer usually does match times as well but didn't for their Mania report.

WWE needs to hire back Pat Patterson or something because they can’t do main event finishes worth a fuck anymore. Eric Bischoff always talks on his podcast how part of WCWs downfall creatively was that they never had strong finishes. The story and journey can be fucking amazing, but if the ending sucks it puts a damper on the whole deal.

If the WrestleMania XX ended with that finish just so HHH could stay strong for the Backlash rematch the next month or Daniel Bryan winning that way at WM30...that would have been the complete drizzling shits. It’s Wrestle-fucking-Mania, end it with a decisive finish. You can set the table the next night on Raw for friggin’ Backlash/Payback/MITB/wtf ever. That finish completely undermined the great match in a historic main event the women put on.

I actually agree with this. Well, WCW not having great finishes was true, but they had a myriad of other problems to. Having generic finishes and the same finishes over and over again -- what with the distracted by music, roll-up spot happening at least once every three weeks -- does hurt. Great finishes can make a good product great or a mediocre product good. They can also make you invest a lot more and care about things.
