Bryan's knee should be called the "Independence Express". He should do the corner taunt that Godfather used to do before hitting the Ho Train. In fact, when he turns heel he can call it the "No Train".

I was gonna pm Jabba to see if he there was a space spare on this weeks podcast but ended up going to bed instead.

My input would have been:

During the description of Alpha Female as "mannish" I'd have said "No, that's TJ Perkins".

During the talk of Bryan/HHH's Raw segment is have suggested how great it would have been if HHH were to come out and say "Bryan strong-armed me into agreeing to the match and the stipulation, but here's the thing...I LIED!!".

I listened to most of this podcast. Interesting to hear the TNA recaps, because I fell behind a few weeks and also did not watch Lockdown. May have to check out some of the Lockdown matches. I probably won't though.

Also, I'm pretty sure somewhere that Daniel Bryan said his Running Knee was called the "Knee Plus".

Last time I watched they had just gotten back together and had hugged it all out and stuff....

Seems every time I fall behind in TNA there are at least two heel/face turns in the time span.

Had a TLP dream last night. Somehow in this dream, my hotel exists in both Nashville and Chicago, so I had Narc at the front desk coming by to check Afterlife in for their WrestleMania extravaganza. At the same time, though, they were in different enough places to where I had to tell Narc how bad I felt that I wouldn't be joining everyone there because it was too far away. I'm sure more stuff happened, but I mostly remember thinking after I woke up thinking that the person in my dream was really not Narc. Looked completely different, sounded completely different, but in that world he was Narc.

Also. Tuned in as a fan this week. Solid fucking program. Except for Afterlife. He's awful.

J/k. Great show. Especially the Afterlife TNA recaps. And I knew there was going to be complaining about the cage door but I say it was justified this time. It does looks rather silly. It is just something in wrestling that we've accepted by now that is kind of ridiculous.

I don't get all the "NerdRage™" against cage doors. Why wouldn't you have a door on a cage? Is it dumb for prisons to have doors? Of course not! Plus, its a great way for a chickenshit heel to win or have that scene of two men so beat up that all he can do is use all his might to try and crawl through the door to survive.

The whole idea of escaping a cage match is counterintuitive to the original pont of the match; to provide a ground on which two hated rivals can meet without interference/without the heel high-tailing/being counted out/were the pair have to fight to a finish. An escape cage match rewards you for walking away from a fight. The door just makes it worse.

Winning via escape is a wonderful way to have a chickenshit heel win the blowoff match of a feud. With the business being so over-exposed in the past 30 years, cage matches are no longer just about "nobody in/nobody out - time to fight".

For example, JBL's win at No Way Out 2005 was fucking brilliant. He didn't win via the door, but he still won in an incredibly chickenshit way that gave him even more heat, made Big Show look even stronger, and ended their short feud. What is a more chickenshit heelish thing than finding a way to screw the fans and the opponent out of their "AHA! GOTCHA NOW, MOTHER FUCKER!" moment that the cage match represents. It is the natural evolution of the gimmick match. Cage matches haven't been the be-all end-all gimmick in years, so it makes sense to give it more versatility. HIAC and the Chamber have the role of being the be-all end-all this fight is going to end in a fair and bloody war gimmick match.

Suspension of disbelief. It's hard when you know somebody could win whenever they want by walking out of the ring.

...not really. They do those spots where the heel goes right for the escape and gets caught all the time. If you overthink it and basically refuse to let yourself enjoy the match because you are missing the forest for the trees, then yes I see your point. It is not like the other guy is just going to let him walk out of the fucking door. Then, you also get into all the psychological parts of guys wanting to dish out more punishment or having too much pride to win by escape. It all adds elements to the matches and the characters in said matches.

You're wrong, James.

Stepping out of the ring requires only a tiny amount of space, and the referees generally open the doors rather rapidly (particularly in WWE).

Cage doors being an option for victory is just about as anti-climactic as it gets. Escape is bad enough, because, again, it misses the point of the match in the first place, but even then it's not about one guy defeating another; it's another form of not getting a decisive finish, and something as big as a cage match should be final.

...which is why the door finish isn't used very often. Standard cage matches aren't all that big of a deal anymore and it isn't because it has a damn door.

James Steele. You are wrong. It is the worst. Also, making a dramatic crawl towards the door is always ridiculous. You could literally just walk out the door with relative ease or baseball slide out. We've all walked through doors. It isn't a difficult thing to do. Even if somebody was trying to stop me, I'm certain I could slip out an open door.

Cage matches aren't a big deal because they're now a poor man's hell in a cell in WWE, and in TNA an entire PPV is dedicated to cage matches, which dilutes the impact it can have.

I'm going to agree with Narc, coming down against cage-doors on the grounds that it always, always looks retarded. It's the same problem that a lot of ladder matches have, where suddenly the guy starts moving in molasses towards his goal, only to be rendered completely immobile by someone grabbing his ankle. At least with ladder matches, it makes sense that the guy would stop climbing when the other guy grabs him-- that's a precarious position and you don't want to fall off. But when a guy is halfway out the door and is suddenly nailed in place because someone's pulling at him (most of the time with zero leverage), it just screams at the audience "WE ARE DOING THIS TO PAD FOR TIME."

Orton Retains

Fit the man with the finest armor you got b/c the next night at RAW will be one dungeon unfit for just his underwear alone. They better have his will done and RV patched up with a forcefield of alien level science. Some will call the WWE brave, but I'm not sure they are that brave.

Batista Wins

see Orton reaction, plus lol Scorpion King

Bryan Wins

Anxiety will build as to how they are going to sabotage his win, I know Summerslam is behind us, but with the possibility of having Punk coming out and getting involved, it could lead to some more unwarranted crap.

Until the show ends I will be skeptical if he wins.

Triple H Wins

I don't see this one happening, as good a heel as he is I don't think it'll be best for business to have HHH hoisting the titles up after all this building of Bryan.

If he does win I'll crank Motorhead and dance in the streets, but as a fan of him we should just leave his title days in the past where they belong. Love him or hate him, he is doing good things down at NXT.

The final segment of RAW when the fake cops came out, I was trying to get a Rodney King chant going.

I had a lot of other ideas for a sign, but they made me trash my blanks as well. I had a TLP sign, Tatanka sign and Tazz Dan sign. I feel awful I wasn't able to get those out, but the TPWW one seemed to be a powerful combo sign to show my respects.

Friday house show notes too:

Bad New Barrett wrestled and Layla returned, I got to see a 3 on 3 with The Shield(in Face mode) vs The Wyatt Family and it was TV quality stuff.

Orton Retains, Batista Wins, Triple H Wins:

Out of the three probably would be the most upset if Batista won considering his run so far has been a big waste even with the sudden heel turn. Probably Orton the least only if something big happened pointing to a refresh in his direction as champion.

Bryan Wins:
