Why mess with Sentinals health? Did people really get that bent out of shape over him?
He's a massive mutant killing robot. He should have a large amount of health. I know it's just a game so details like that don't matter but it's similar to the excuse they used with Sagat in SFIV. "He's 7'2 so that's why we made him so good." So the way it works is: 1. Game releases 2. People realise they suck against a big strong character 3. Everyone complains to Capcom about it because Capcom clearly must have screwed up. There is no way it could be that the complainers "mad tourney skillz" aren't as good as they like to believe they are. 4. Capcom kisses it better with a patch when they should really just tell them to get better at the game. I'm catching on to this fighting community thing fast. I notice no one ever wants the "cool" character in a fighting game changed. No one is asking for Dante to be weakened or given less health. He is perfect because he is who the complainers use and to negatively alter him would be wrong. If we're talking about changing characters because we don't enjoy fighting them then I'd like Dante changed. He's fast, has too many moves from every angle and homing projectiles. It's unfair to me because I use big slow characters. I don't want to improve my playing, I just want Capcom to reduce his effectiveness against my characters so I can win more. The last paragraph isn't serious, obviously. I wouldn't ask Dante to be changed. I'll just play against him until I figure out what works and I become overall better at the game. Like you're supposed to! |

Can't say I expected this reaction from Drakul.
I'm indifferent to the change. I guess have less excuses losing to him, but that won't be the case. I'd say his damage was a bigger reason for the tears than his stamina but whatever. They need to get on that spectator feature 24/7. And BTW, Sentinel was fine, imo. He has less options than people are willing to admit because they let him run them down. I had more problems with Zero (and my brother picking up Phoenix) than flowchart Sents. |

True but you can't really talk about balance in an MvC3 game, can you?
Using Dante has an example again. He is fast, he has a lot of moves that can be done both on the ground and in the air and he has homing missles. He has good health and he does good damage. That's hardly balanced when you get characters like Joe who moves slowly and, if I remember rightly, doesn't do much damage. Maybe Sentinal could be considered unbalanced but so are a couple other characters (not specifically to their advantage) who probably wont be touched by Capcom because the community isn't upset about it as much as they are about Sentinal, if at all. |

Well as a Dante player I can say he's more straight forward than you think. And he actually has low HP. His homing missiles take years to start up and has long recovery. It actually loses to a lot of projectiles.
Well... I guess you're of the grappler type so I can see how Dante may be a problem to you. I've been messing with Spencer lately, the guy hits hard as shit and cannot be trusted from any range. Very sneaky. Also been using Felicia; just learned her 'kitten helper' will continue her cute little splashes so long as you press buttons, that means she'll attack even is Felicia is full screen away. I thought she followed you around. The kitten helper hits overhead, so a combo with the kitten and a low hitting assist cannot be blocked. |

It's just something that bugs me. People find a character they can't beat easily enough and, instead of playing until they get good enough, they all start to hate the character, consider him cheap and want him nerfed.
He's considered too strong but, like I said before, he's a giant killer robot. Of course he'll be strong. He's also big and slow. Sentinal Force takes a week just to get on the screen, nevermind actually connecting. If someone knows how to play the game decently, they could probably destroy Sentinal with ease. He's a massive, slow purple target. Wouldn't the "Hit 'n' Run" tactic work there? You can say he's unbalanced but that sort of depends who you play as, doesn't it? It feels a little unbalanced playing as Haggar online against Magneto when all you get is Disruptor or one of his other projectiles. Playing with another projectile character against Magneto feels a little more balanced. Anyway, it was about 6am when I made my rant and I hadn't had breakfast yet. Quote:

Having watched a ton of tourneys over the past few weeks, I just hope it might encourage people to try out somebody besides Sent. Like I said a while ago, I'm sure its mostly because his combos are so easy and his damage is so ridiculous, but I really want to see some new team dynamics. The only characters I've yet to see used in tourney are Thor, Jill, and Viper AFAIK. Haven't seen much of Ryu either; he seems to be outclassed by Akuma in almost every way.
But its a fun game to watch for sure. And character exploration takes time, I know. Have been really happy with the amount of characters from SSFIV I've seen in the past few months. Even managed to see a Hakan get 3rd Place in singles at Marvel Madness. |

We're already seeing some interesting stuff from recent tournaments. Sent gets chosen less and less as time goes by.
Ryu = Akuma, I don't see any clear advantages for either. There's definitely reasons for choosing one or the other. |

The character I tend to have the most fun watching right now is Ammy, just because people are getting so on-point with the weapon switching. I have still yet to be impressed by anything from Viewtiful Joe or Arthur; I've seen players play them competently, but they don't seem to have a whole lot going for them in general.

I can't help but think a 1v1 mode would help people appreciate each character's overall concept, so we don't see assist dependent shenanigans and people sleeping on characters who are secretly amazing.

Event Mode is now unlocked.
It is under the Xbox Live section. You select from 17 events and, rather than start the event from there, it just changes the settings of Arcade mode to that challenge. So I'm doing one that requires me to beat Arcade mode with diminished health bar. I selected that event and then just went to Arcade mode as normal and my health is already lower than usual. |

From that DLC list, Doc Ock, Juggernaut, Apocalypse, possibly Miss Marvel and Frank West intereset me. The other, not so much. Surprised/dissapointed to see no Venom.
I hope Iceman isn't as annoying as he was in MvC2. Shadow Battle 02 is out now for 80 MSP and has another 3 AIs to fight. Also two more Events have been unlocked. One turns Arcade into a series of 1 on 1 fights and the other turns it into a 2 on 2 tag fight. |

You can either pick your two best characters and one character you've not finished Arcade with and then beat Galactus with your best guys and tag in Hagger or whoever for the final hit so it counts as doing Arcade with him.
Or you can make a team up of the 3 you've not finished with and that way you're guaranteed a new ending. |
