I like it. Certainly an upgrade offensively, provided he stays healthy and out of trouble. He kinda sucks at playing outfield, but so did Pat Burrell and he won a ring patrolling left (still love Pat the Bat).

Delmon Young had some timely hits for Detroit last season, especially in the postseason.

I don't know if they'll feel his absence that much, especially with Victor Martinez coming back and the signing of Torii Hunter, but still. He was important for them.

The Mets are petitioning MLB to protect the 11th pick in the draft. The top 10 picks are normally protected. The Mets' argument is that they would have had the 10th pick except baseball awarded the Pirates with a bonus top 10 pick because they didn't sign Mark Appel last year.

I doubt it works. But if baseball allows them to protect the pick...they may actually sign Bourn. If not, with Hairston off the board they're looking out an outfield of Lucas Duda, Kirk Nieuwenhuis, Mike Baxter, Colin Cowgill, and Andrew Brown. Hello 90 losses.
