 Romo suffers broken pinkie in Cowboys' overtime loss

IRVING, Texas -- Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo has a broken finger on his throwing hand and could be out for up to four weeks. Romo, who had started 30 straight regular-season games since replacing Drew Bledsoe in 2006, broke his right pinkie on the first play of overtime in a 30-24 loss at Arizona on Sunday, according to a posting on the team's official Web site. The injury will not require surgery, a member of the Cowboys' medical staff told ESPN.com's Matt Mosley. The injury leaves the Cowboys (4-2) with 40-year-old Brad Johnson as the starter. Johnson, who won a Super Bowl with Tampa Bay, hasn't started a game since 2006 in Minnesota. Romo missed on three straight passes to start the overtime, having passed for 321 yards and three touchdowns despite heavy pressure. He was sacked three times and knocked down 19 times. Romo, whose hand was heavily wrapped after the game, fumbled three times Sunday, losing one, but didn't throw an interception for the first time in the last nine games. Through Sunday's games, Romo ranks second in NFC passing with a 103.5 rating. He has thrown for 14 touchdowns and been intercepted five times. He had his team-record 14th career 300-yard passing game Sunday in his 32nd start. That broke a tie with Troy Aikman, whose 13 were accomplished in 165 starts. In 2007, his first full season as a starter, Romo led the Cowboys to a 13-3 record, best in the NFC. He set team records with 335 completions for 4,211 yards and 36 touchdowns, including the team-record 15 receiving by Terrell Owens, in a season that ended with a loss to the Giants in the first round of the playoffs. Johnson quarterbacked the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to the NFL championship in 2002. He has been Romo's backup since last season and threw only 11 passes in 2007. Johnson, in his second year as Cowboys backup, has only seen brief mop-up duty in Dallas, going 7-for-11 for 79 yards. Before coming to Dallas, Johnson started 122 of his 145 career games with Minnesota (1993-98, 2005-06), Washington (1999-2000) and Tampa Bay (2001-04). Johnson has completed 2,627 of 4,248 career passes (61.8 percent) for 28,627 yards with 164 touchdowns and 117 interceptions. He passed for 2,750 yards in 2006 with nine TDs and 15 interceptions -- only the third time in his career with more interceptions than TDs. Another former Viking, Brooks Bollinger, will be Johnson's backup. Information from The Associated Press was used in this report.

Despite the Jets having an average starting position on their own 46, the Bengals D still manned up and played their asses off. And the offense responds by averaging 3.1 yards per play and 7 points.

Also Mike Brown seriously needs to get cancer. Preferably a painful kind.

I'm glad the Saints and Chargers are building up some good form heading into Wembley. Should be a good game in a couple of weeks. Can't wait to see some live football again. Even though the atmosphere will suck, but fuck it.

There will also be a New Orleans themed tailgate party outside the stadium beforehand. I wonder how that will turn out. Better not rain so bad this year, that Wembley turf is so weak.

Yeah I'll take some pictures. Lol it's quite funny cause it's planned and you need a ticket to get into it and stuff. I'm sure you guys have never heard of a tailgate party where you've needed a ticket! Here's the details, should be some fun:

The 20,000 person party will be the biggest organized tailgate event ever to take place in the UK, and will include New Orleans-based jazz bands, NFL Experience games and a Mardi Gras parade.

Live on stage will be a variety of famed New Orleans jazz to get the party in full swing.

Also appearing at the Tailgate Party will be Saints’ cheerleaders, who will perform on stage for fans prior to taking the field.

Tailgate PartyIn addition to the New Orleans-themed entertainment, there will be exciting food and drink options available to attendees. Authentic New Orleans recipes like jambalaya and étouffe will be on offer in addition to traditional football fare like hotdogs and hamburgers.

Coors Light – the Official beer sponsor of the NFL -- will be providing a beer garden for NFL fans to meet-up and enjoy some ice cold, Rocky Mountain refreshment before kick-off of the big game between the Saints and Chargers.

Also available for fans attending the event will be a large Reebok NFL merchandise marquee, which will include an array of NFL gear including replica jerseys, caps, t-shirts, helmets, footballs and special commemorative International Series souvenirs.

Tailgate PartyIf you want to spend time at the Tailgate Party sharpening your football skills there will be 11 NFL Experience games on site available to test your ability. Practice your throwing, blocking, catching, kicking, tackling and running with a variety of different fun games that will appeal to children and adults.

If playing football on screen is more your thing, then EA Sports will be there giving everyone an opportunity to play their latest and greatest NFL title: Madden NFL 09. There will also be a limited number of walk-up spots available to compete in the UK’s Madden Challenge Finals, where you will have an opportunity to win great prizes -- including a Grand Prize trip to Beaches Turks & Caicos Resort and Spa in January 2009, to compete for a share of prizes totalling US$100,000 in the global Madden Challenge Finals!
The party gets underway at 11:00am, with three custom-designed Mardi Gras floats at 12:00pm which will arrive at the Tailgate site from the streets surrounding Wembley behind a rousing New Orleans marching band. Vibrantly coloured revelers on the floats will throw traditional New Orleans beads into the crowds to set the atmosphere alight and prepare fans for the big game in the stadium. Following behind the floats will be musicians including members of the Apache Mardi Gras Indian Tribe.

At 4:00pm the Tailgate Party will come to a close with the procession of the Mardi Gras floats from the Tailgate site into the stadium, where they will contribute to the pre-game entertainment.

The entertainment will spill over into the streets surrounding Wembley, with musical entertainment on Olympic Way and at Wembley Stadium Station, as well as the passing of the Mardi Gras parade floats through the surrounding streets before their arrival at the Tailgate party.

With NFC East rivals Philadelphia and the NY Giants in the running for Tony Gonzalez’s services via trade it could drive up the price for the perennial Pro Bowl tight end. WarpaintIllustrated.com, a team outfit under the Scout.com umbrella is reporting that the Bills have offered a third-round pick for Gonzalez.

Meanwhile they’re reporting that the Giants are willing to offer more than their original offer of a 6th round selection.

If not one outbids the bills, I doubt he is traded. Gonzo wants NY, I dont think he will go to buffalo. They should make the playoffs, but I dont think they are big enough contenders for TG to leave, although you never know.
