I didn't even think about Cueto. No excuse at all for him to be left out with Lynn getting in.

Pretty much called Lynn getting in in my predictions though. I knew LaRussa couldn't resist despite Cueto, McDonald, Bumgarner, Vogelsong, and a slew of others being more deserving at this point.

Meanwhile, in the AL Final Vote - Yu Darvish figures to win in a landslide with the Japanese vote plus the fact that Rangers players raked in huge vote numbers this year with every Rangers player finishing top 5 in voting.

The NL Vote will come down to Bryce Harper vs. Chipper Jones. Michael Bourn is on the ballot as well but I don't think it will split the Atlanta votes - no way any Braves fan wouldn't vote for Chipper.

How Ortiz got the DH spot for the AL side is beyond me. Even the AL reserves are a joke. Everyone is from the central and west. The 2 east reps are both from the O's (Jones & Wieters.)

NL side looks the most balanced. But lots of top caliber arms on the NL side. Who's gonna kill who just to be the starter?

Have you seen Ortiz's numbers this year? They're pretty damn good and obviously the best in the AL for a DH. Encarnacion is the only other one close to him this year.

Red Sox came close to giving away a 3rd walk off win for Seattle but with the win now they move just 1/2 game behind the Os for their wild card spot (and 3rd in the East).

I'm amazed at how much shit the Giants fans are getting from baseball writers and the media around the country. Not just Sandoval, but the fact that Belt, Crawford, Schierholtz, and even Sanchez (who hasn't even played this year) all got really close to starting the game. Would have been funny to see if Selig stepped in and voided out some of the selections, much like what happened when the entire Reds lineup was elected to start way back in the day - which led to the end of the fan vote for a while.

All it really shows is that they are either dedicated or don't have much of a life. Those ballots are tedious as hell and as much as I'd have liked to see Wright start I certainly wasn't about to spend 20 minutes per day voting for him.

I didn't even do a ballot this year because the voting has reached the point where if you don't utilize all 25 ballots you're allowed per day, your one vote is gonna ultimately be meaningless.

Never really rebounded back from his first 2-3 great years. Still remember him and a young Beckett pulling off the upset and taking down the Yankees in the 2003 World Series.


MLB's fan voting isn't as bad as the NBA's one but all it really needs is a few tweaks such as a minimum amount of games needed to qualify or start the ballot later in the season with a list of qualified players instead of at the start. You still get the big markets dominating the voting and players getting voted because of their names but you'd reduce players going who barely played so far in the season.

Its not just Rizzo. Travis Wood has been lights out for the last two months. The bullpen has been very solid and Luis Valbuena has been a revelation at third base. Svuem can't justify giving Ian Kinsler his job back when he comes off the DL.
