What if there was a reserve list of announcers and other on-air non wrestling talent that I just left up for grabs in a thread? They wouldn't be counted towards your roster number, but if you're booking and you feel you could use one of them, PM me, and I'll edit the thread to show what company they have been claimed by.

I still think picking announcers and whatnot could add a certain feel to your promotion. I understand it's a text based format, but saying Mean Gene is interviewing your world champ backstage is far more evocative than "Champ is interviewed by nameless interviewer."

I like the idea of picking all the pieces. What can I say.

I kinda wanna just focus this on in-ring. 25 wrestlers would be a perfect number, it'd get nearly everybody in WWE and TNA involved.

Announcers can create problems. Whoever gets stuck with Michael Cole will get penalized by voters even though it might just be due to the mercy of the draft.

I really hope people only use them when they need them, and not just to take them from other people. What if there was a rule that said any selected free agents must be used in the next round, or they'll be put back into the free agent pool?

I'd be okay with allowing anybody who was fired from WWE or TNA within the past year to be involved...just because I think good use would be made from some of those guys, plus it allows more choice...but whatev.

Since the PPV should be our promotion's equivalent of Wrestlemania (after all, the point is to put on the best show possible), along with "supplemental talent" like interviewers and announcers, what about celebs?

What I was thinking was, for the PPV, 3 celeb spots that could be utilized. I suppose if you needed a celeb to show up on a weekly show to build an angle for the PPV that could be allowed... I mean if you wanted to do something like the Tyson angle, or even the old Mr. T or Lawrence Taylor things of years past.

But the idea, at least how I envisioned it, was -- much like the other on-air talent -- just to add a sense of depth to what we present. You can state that Nicole Scherzinger sings the national anthem, or that Disturbed plays Stone Cold to the ring with the "Glass Shatters" music, or whatever works for your show.

And if you don't want to use any celebrity backing? Roll without it. Your call.

Sorry, I grew up with RPGs, so this type of "mood setting" stuff kinda comes naturally for me. Yeah, I'm a nerd.

I'd be fine with one celeb spot to use for TV weeks and three celeb spots for the PPV if you so choose. Celebs wouldn't be on written contracts anyway, so they should all be open to anyone.

I don't know... I think most any of us have watched a show and thought, "Jeez, I wish they would have had so-and-so sing the anthem instead of this talentless hack" or something similar.

I'd leave out celebrities, it's a month of booking, doesn't need to be WrestleMania/Starrcade month. The emphasis should remain on how well you can essentially write 4 weeks of TV and a PPV.

In terms of announcers/on screen talent, I think maybe allowing anybody currently under contract to either WWE or TNA but not as a wrestler should be eligible. So for example, if for some reason you want to have Dean Malenko as your lead announcer, Simon Diamond as your backstage interviewer and Terry Taylor as your ring announcer, you can.

No, I totally agree. But, I think that could be a self-correcting problem. I mean, if a booker runs anything into the ground, it's going to reflect in their ratings. If the PPV rolls around and it's a nonstop celeb love-in, it will kill their rating. Ideally, if misused, the problem is it's own fix.

I have to ask... if the idea is to present the best month of wrestling programming possible, which by default it more or less is, why would we treat it as anything but our "big month?" After all, Wrestlemania is supposedly the PPV where the WWE puts on their best matches and resolves their biggest storylines. (I know, I know, opinions differ.) It is the month where everyone in WWE is expected to bring their very best to everything they do.

That being said... that is exactly what every booker in this thing will be doing.

It's a company that doesn't exist. There is no WrestleMania. It doesn't all need to be so 'WWE'. The best booking in the history of wrestling has just been well written conflict and resolution, not overbooked, overblown gimmick fests with celebrities, guest bands etc. Somebody singing a national anthem is fine but in terms of this game, it feels completely unnecessary. If you want somebody to sing a national anthem, pick Jillian Hall.

The main reason from my point of view for giving announcers/interviewers 'a face' is to make it a bit more attractive for people joining (they might want to use somebody specific) and as somebody mentioned, it looks a bit better than 'Joe Bloggs is being interviewed' for the sake of authenticity. Shouldn't be at all important though, more of a personal choice.

Personal opinion, but Wrestlemania X is my favorite Wrestlemania. It had all of that -- well written conflict and resolution, plenty of build to support the stories, etc. etc. Especially the Owen/Bret/Luger/Yokozuna series. But there were still other things. Plenty of celebs made appearances. Generally, it didn't detract from the event in any way.

Besides, the celebrities don't have any impact on the game itself, any more than announcers/interviewers do. (Barring some sort of celeb match angle, but I digress.) Besides, as was mentioned, it would be a "use it if you want, ignore it if you want" feature you can use, but don't have to. I personally like the idea of leaving the option open, for those who want it, but if people are that against it, scrap it.
