I agree. But it's also fucked up to break down a rival of yours' front door with a sledgehammer and try to smash their brains in, or try to run them over with a zamboni.
None of this is behavior I would engage in. It comes from heels and faces alike.

You do have a point though. I can tell you I've never really marked for such a thing, personally. It doesn't make a hell of a lot of sense.
Now dropping a people's elbow, that's a different story.

I was actually thinking how fucked up it was for the face to be doing that when I saw it, but still, it's not out of the norm for wrestling at all. Even in the PG era, it's all about the lulz.

I had a bigger problem with them bothering Vickie about her weight. We saw what happened with Mickie when she didn't change, but Vickie has lost A LOT of weight over the past year or so and looks a lot better than she did. They played it up a bit before, but they never played up her fatness to these levels until, ironically, she starts losing it.

What does that tell kids who look up to Cena and even Lawler? That you should always bully someone because of their appearance? Yeah, great job.

I don't care THAT much, mind you, but it's an equally valid problem.

I noticed and was pretty suprised by them having Cena make fun of a girl for being fat. It's not suprising for WWE to do, but it's almost always through a heel. Not the company's Wheaties box face.

Yeah, the fact that Cena doing it was the biggest out of place thing for me. He was getting some hardcore shots in on her and was being a pretty big dick about it, which is completely out of character for Cena post-05.

Yup and that whole promo fucking sucked because of it. That bothered me as well, really I just don't like what they do with women in the WWE. I mean let's be real people don't go to shows for hot women, they could litterally treat women with respect and still have the same crowds, same ratings same everything. Shit if they did something with women wrestlers that mattered, like say created a legit division with legit competition you might even draw in people who would otherwise not be into wrestling. There's just no point to the way they treat women.

And for the record even if they did make tons of money degrading women I'd still be pissed off and wishing they'd stop it

How can you say society is mysoginistic and a rape-culture, and then say that the WWE objectifies hot women with no endgame?
They are an entertainment business, so if you maintain that people are rape-thirsty, then there quite clearly would be a difference in crowds/ratings, no?

No I'd say that people cheer these things would be an indication and in this case I doubt it because the women are treated as so unimportant that as a result most people view them as so. So taking them out no one would notice.

I'm with ya, I fully believe in generally analyzing everything. I like things more when I can admit it's faults as well as it's awesomeness.

For example wrestling

Likes: awesome athletic matches, good story telling (still happens from time to time)

Dislikes: Misogynistic treatment of their female on screen talent (calling them Divas is annoying to me even), bad story telling (happens more than I'd like)

There's more likes and dislikes but that's the gist of it.

American wrestling is by and large a sideshow, even if it's come a long way and has moments of greatness.
There are a lot of elements to the business that are like that, not just it's treatment of women. If you are going to call out the misogynistic treatment of females (which I'm not denying. It's quite clear), then you also have to look further.
Fat people, midgets, short or scrawny people, foreigners, and the list goes on. Even men are treated as objects, to a certain degree.
There is also a general presence of violent and inappropriate behavior. Base humor and humiliation, or primal displays of anger, etc. It's not exclusive to male on female.

So while you may be right, I don't see why you're focusing solely on that content issue with your dislikes.

I don't have any problem with the content of wrestling. It's make believe, and even if it's inappropriate and base at times, it's too absurd to view as problematic. It's totally harmless.
I don't see how any properly raised person would beat someone with a sledgehammer or assault a woman anymore than they would drop an anvil on someone's head after watching Looney Tunes.

If I was going to worry myself with the way people are treated in wrestling, I'd be more concerned with what goes on behind the curtain, rather than in front of it.
