Izzy is gonna be the real Divas Revolution. If she isn't champ in 15 years time something will have gone very wrong.

Having just watched the whole thing (which took about 3 hours cause I somehow got distracted watching the whole story of Pentagon Jnr vs Vampiro in Lucha Underground), here are my two cents:
Big fan of the tag team matches. I hear people saying that they would have had at least one "real" tag team in the main event but I have no objection to two super teams battling it out in the final. In the end, Jordan and Gable are a relatively new tag team and the Mechanics lost to the World champ and probably the biggest indy name they have (Stateside) so I don't think either team has lost any heat. Very impressed with Jason Jordan and Baron Corbin in these matches. I would also point out to anyone I've heard people suggesting that Joe hasn't been booked as they like, not to discount the significance of HHH and co choosing to pair him with Finn Balor to win the Dusty Classic cause I have no doubt about the importance they put upon that whole tournament. Glad they didn't do the turn as I expected - it wouldn't have been the right moment and we have all the time in the world for Samoa Joe vs Finn Balor. Enjoyed the Tyler Breeze/Apollo Crews match. They're both majorly solid guys and they delivered a match the calibre I've come to expect. To the person calling for Breeze to be called up to the main roster, surely no one in NXT wants the McMahons and the Kevin Dunns of this world ruining all that is good about them before getting fed to Kane and the Big Show? As someone who didn't know a whole lot about Kana/Asuka before, I am looking very forward to watching more of her. Is it fair to say between her and Sasha Banks they make up two of the best wrestlers in the entire company now? The Main Event - I felt it was going to be impossible to replicate the big match atmosphere from the last Takeover event and to match the standard they set. This is no slight cause their match in Brooklyn is the best women's match I've ever seen. I felt they paced the match well and a lot of good psychology went into it, with both girls trying offence they've used before only for the other to have it already scouted and to have a counter prepared. I loved Sasha making Izzy cry - has to be the most old school heel antics I've seen in forever and she managed to make someone like Kevin Owens appear a classic babyface in the process. My only criticism, or observation, would be that I don't need to see Sasha falling on her head/neck again. Overall another great show from the best thing going in the WWE by a considerable, considerable distance. And for that reason, that's why it needs to be kept as minimalistic and wrestling-centric as it is and that's why the people who appear ashamed to admit they're in the wrestling business like Kevin Dunn need to stay as far away from the show as possible. Is NXT just a ploy to make us all like HHH though? Cause it's kind of working. |

Well since Asuka has only had one match in the company under this guise, I don't think that is fair in the slightest to guys like Cena, who have had outstanding matches all year. Hell, Lesnar has only wrestled a few times and they've almost all been better, some of them by a gigantic margin.
Sasha on the other hand is excellent. Thank God she finally started acting like a heel in the second half of the match, it's one of her biggest drawbacks as a heel on the main show - her nice smile isn't hatebale in the least. Loved the ironman, even though some of the sloppyness would have been killed had it been Eva Marie, the NXT environment allows people to overlook the little things for those that are over. The Joe/Balor stuff was perfect, no need to cheapen it by making it feel to swervy yet, they needed a big moment with them looking like equals and wet the appetite. Right finalists too - wasn't the best match in isolation, but sticking Gable/Jordan in there with them would split the audience, and when these are your two top babyfaces that are expected to sell out Wembley Arena, making them look like anything but super over is retarded, and if they're getting split reactions with Gable and Jordan, it's just a fucked up dynamic for where they are going. ![]() ![]() Crazy Like A Fox - The Definitive Chronicle of Brian Pillman 20 Years Later **Featuring interviews with members of the Pillman family, Dave Meltzer, Kim Wood, Raven, Jim Cornette, Mark Madden, Shane Douglas, Mark Coleman, Alex Marvez, Les Thatcher and many more close friends and colleagues** Available on Amazon now: http://amzn.to/2h93SxL |

The first two tag matches rejuvenated my faith in mainstream professional wrestling.

Saw what was seemingly see in Jason Jordan for the first time on this show. Dude has potential. That said, hope they don't split the team anytime soon.

They should keep them together until it's quite clear their characters are ready and established enough for a singles run. I'd rather they not turn on each other however. Remain friends but go their own way.

These NXT Takeovers are the Marvel Movies of wrestling. They rarely disappoint, or let you down, and are captivating enough to watch in one shot. That being said, here's a quick sum-up, in the order of what i remember most / what i enjoyed most.
Super impressed by Asuka. Her body language, mannerisms, moveset, and well, everything else scream awesome. And, i'm beginning to get the appeal of Dana Brooke as well. Also, was this the first time someone mocked Dana's taunts? Those taunts are a huge irritant, especially when Dana does them a hundred times per appearance. Overall, this match had me riveted. Read it somewhere, maybe here, maybe on Reddit, but i'd agree. Asuka was a better Hideo Itami than Hideo Itami. Both semi-final tag matches. Great stories where all the participants looked brilliant. I'd give the edge to Jordan/Gable VS Corbin/Rhyno. Insane pacing, and a few really sweet spots. Gable's suplex to Corbin and that bridge pin attempt should make it to highlight reels. Corbin's growth has been great as well. Have Jordan/Gable faced the Vaudevillians yet? Can't wait to see Gotch / Gable. The other tag, well, Joe's intensity and Dawson/Dash's no-nonsense style were the highlights. The commentary. Each one of them know the roles they play, and do their best to keep at it. Insights, opinions, facts, storytelling, everything was top notch, and the smattering of personalities was the cherry on top. From pointing out the significance of the attire for Bayley / Sasha, to calling moves by their names to constantly selling Balor's knee, and why Breeze keeps getting these Takeover matches even though he doesn't seem to win any, it all kept me hooked. Graves is by far the best colour commentator in the WWE today. The Ironman Match. I have to say, it didn't feel like 30 minutes. Solid storytelling, and some of the spots were excellent. The Banks/Izzy moment was brilliant, and definitely needed to be done to re-establish Banks as a super-heel. I didn't enjoy the ending though. Had me question why Banks couldn't hold on for three seconds more? Though, credit where credit's due. Bayley's submission looked insanely painful, and fit perfectly in to the match story. Crews VS Breeze. I like Breeze. I get why Crews had to pick up a win, and Breeze was the perfect opponent for him. Balor/Joe VS Corbin/Rhyno. After the insanity of the semi-finals, the final felt a bit flat. Credit where credit's due though. They all worked their asses of. |
