Also could get behind Cesaro joining the Authority and winning the title. Would be something fresh Vince could get rid of the Cesaro section with a heel turn.

What's Bryan's status?
From what we've heard / read, Bryan says he's healthy, but waiting for a clearance from a third doctor. Would the WWE risk it? It wouldn't do shit for face Reigns, but a returning Bryan is the perfect foil to turn Reigns as well.

They seem to be subtly building to an Ambrose heel turn on Reigns.

Honestly, have the tournament where Reigns eliminates Ambrose in the semi-final, for Ambrose to come back in the finals and just destroy Reigns.

This is going to be interesting, because you have Reigns, Wyatt, and Sheamus who are basically at main event level now, and a ton of guys who are right on that cusp, and given a little nudge (Cesaro and Ambrose being the most notable), could probably take the ball and run for a few months.

Man, this is a killer. Just laying out the current situation, we have:

Brock Lesnar - not around
John Cena - not around
Daniel Bryan - injured
Randy Orton - injured
Sting - assumed injured
Rusev - injured
Undertaker - occupied
Kane - occupied
Bray Wyatt - occupied
Luke Harper - occupied
Erick Rowan - occupied
Braun Strowman - occupied
The New Day - probably occupied
Lucha Dragons - probably occupied

-
Possible Survivor Series field:

Roman Reigns
Dean Ambrose
Sheamus
King Barrett
Alberto Del Rio
Jack Swagger
Dolph Ziggler
Kevin Owens
Ryback
Cesaro
R-Truth
Tyler Breeze
Usos

Fuck me. I don't want to come off negative, but that looks like such a weak field. Hopefully they inject some life into it, but going back to Sheamus or Del Rio as top heels to carry things after the last 5 years of strong pushes and miserable failures really doesn't feel like the way to go at a time when ratings and house shows are already below par.

Their own fault. The whole "I'm bored now" thing has hampered pushing newer talent to the realm of credible threats. Some of that list on the bottom (and frankly, some of that top list as well :coughBRAYWYATTchough: )shouldn't be viewed as weak as they currently are.

Considering all those rumors that keep going around about Vince wanting Ambrose to go with a more "Vegas" style character wouldn't he fit in better as the new Corporate Champ?

I hadn't heard that about a vegas character...could be interesting.

Perhaps this whole deal explains the Tatanka signing.

All depends how many guys they want in the tournament.

Im assuming it's an 8 man tournament at the event.

Reigns
Big E
Del Rio
Cesaro
Ambrose
Wyatt
Ziggler
Owens

That would be my field assuming no outsiders. Would be cool if they could get some other guys like Jericho or Rock, but I'm assuming that's not happening.

If Reigns was meant to turn heel, this would be perfect way to do it. Have it come down to Reigns v Ambrose and Ambrose gets screwed. Ambrose v Reigns have a program culminating prior to Mania.

Brock wins Rumble and sets up the match with Reigns.

Wrestling fans who weren't even watching at the time would cum in their pants.

That would be a great way to open the show. Advertise a "mystery entrant" to give a nod to how the Undertaker came in. Then similar to how the Rock's intro as the guest host for WM went, you dim the lights and play some incidental music for about 15 seconds then very slowly bring up a whole shitload of red, white, and blue lighting, hit a BOOM BOOM BOOM with the pyro, five seconds of silence and dark, cue music. Angle wins the title at the end of the night and all true beleiving wrestling fans are taken in the Rapture.

Just the Semis on PPV would be so weak. This should be massive news and the focus of the whole night. Everything should revolve around this tournament now.

They should build up having to win 3 matches in one night and focus on that

Taker and Bray can still have their match and you can have Divas on the pre-show.

That is still only 8 matches on the main card, less if someone gets a bye because of shenanigans

Yeah, I know. Just bought old, used copy of WWF Unforgiven 2001, which saw him defeat Austin for the WWF Championship in Pittsburgh, PA, and his family stormed the ring along with the guys in the back to celebrate with him. I'd be lying if I said I didn't get a little (*SIGH* OK, DAMMIT A LOT) misty-eyed at that scene, even if it probably was done in the wave of super-hyper-ultra-mega-über American patriotism (which I have no problem with, BTW...USA #1!) after 9/11 (The event was held 9/23/2001).

Can someone clarify something for me. This whole tournament business, does that mean the elimination tag match between the Wyatts and Taker and Kane has now been shelved?

I mean how can you have a tournament to crown a champion and not include Wyatt in there and for that matter Taker given the whole event is being billed as his 25th anniversary?

I for one wouldn't mind seeing Taker (or Sting) lifting the belt come the end of the night. Sure it would make no fucking sense given the beating he just took from Lesnar but didn't Austin win the belt off The Rock after a beating from Triple H at the previous PPV?

I think the whole event should be tournament matches and the obligatory WWE title match.

I for one would tune into that from start to finish with intrigue as opposed to just playing it in the background and tuning in as and when my main match is on.

Your average Network Special has 7-8 matches.

So that would mean an 8 person tournament if it was only tournament matches. They did a 14 person tourny back in 98, but that was in the era of 4 minute matches. Don't see that today.

My guess is WWE will start with 8 guys on RAW, but have the Final 4 on the Network Special. That allows them to have other matches like a tag title match, a Divas title match, and whatever they had planned for the Wyatts to make it a more compete show. I guess they could always make it a 4 hour show. But don't know if that's possible with such short notice.

If the tournament wasn't the plan could do a regular survivor series elimination match without teams. Sole survivor wins the WWE title.

Is there any viability to pushing the Undertaker into the title picture given the list of absentees?

What about Sting?

And the likelihood Cena and Lesnar would be returning in time?

Wouldn't mind Taker if Bray was the one to beat him for the title, but rewriting the Wyatt situation at the moment would be rough. That was about the only storyline going that I was actually interested in.

I just think given the unfortunate timing of Rollins' injury, just axe all other storylines and focus on this tournament. Given it revolves around Taker's 25th anniversary why not make him the focus and have hm win the title "against all odds". If Lesnar can't be involved then have him beat Wyatt for the title or even Sting to make people totally mark the fuck out.

Or to keep the Wyatt feud burning, have Wyatt cost him the title or him help Sheamus to cash in etc. We'd remember it for both the good and bad; Taker winning the WWE title for probably the last time on the show he made his debut and losing it (for the last time) on the same night.

Only one way to determine how to do this................

Put the entire roster in a Royal Rumble sim match on WWE 2k16 and see how it plays out. Then creative can take it from there.
