There are benefits to purchasing ROH. The tape library and potentially the syndication spot, namely. It could be used as a place to do a different flavor of pro-wrestling. But announcing it this way was not one of the benefits.

I think the reality is this whole thing does make MJF a much more complicated, nuanced character and also it doesn't make him not the absolute piece of shit he's been since day 1. Best of both worlds.

A bit like that Edge/Becky Lynch segment during her ascendancy as The Man where he was trying to convince her to not make the mistakes he made in his rise to the top and she was like "hahaha, fuck off or I'll reinjure your neck" except not pulled out of thin air and with an actual match to come.

Yeah that segment with MJF and Punk this week makes me hate last weeks a lot less, because it does make some sense now. But I won't go back and re-watch it and claim it genius, I still didn't like it in the moment. But fuck it, that segment tonight was absolute one of the best AEW segments ever.
