Yeah Gonchar is a defender. Also, you have to take into consideration that Crosby might not be a superstar, I mean he's like 17. They should at the least be an exciting club that can draw fans again, and at the most a decent playoff team. I'm looking forward to them.

A guy I completely forgot about was that Rick Nash guy (I think its Rick). I remember he was like tearing shit up in Cleveland in 03-04. He's one of those guys who is amazing but doesn't get any publicity. The other guy I forgot about, who was that young guy on the Red Wings who had tonns of points? I remember part of it was because he was on some sweet line, but he's another one of those guys who is going to be really good now too (not that he already wasn't, but now they will be taking over kind of).

There was a bunch of rumor at the end of the 2004 season that Manny Fernandez would be traded, possibly to the Av's or something. Anybody know if there are teams still interested?

Not many guys do that to begin with. Gochar, Tarnstrom are Dmen. They'll get the puck out of their zone fast, quick first pass or as in Gonchar's case be able to move it out himself. That counts as something more than just "offense"

What, he tied for the lead in goals last year and won the Maurice Richard trophy, I don't consider that "not getting publicity"

Which one are you talking about?

And just because he was good doesn't mean he got publicity, whichever one you are talking about. You still here more about JR, Yzerman, and all of the old established players. Nash was in a smaller market so he barely got any exposure, and Datsyuk (is that his name?) was playing on a team with Steve Yzerman, Brett Hull, Brendan Shanahan, Chris Chelios, Nicklas Lindstrom, Darrien Hatcher, and Luc Robitaille, some of the biggest names in hockey. I can assure you that he didn't get great national exposure in the U.S.

Maybe he did in Windsor, but Pierre Marc-Buchard gets good exposure in the Twin Cities, so thats not saying much.

He'll join the rush leaving their zone, leaving only 1 dman back, if the puck is turned over, you now have a possible 2 or 3 on 1.

With no red line, watch more for longer passes, cross ice up the middle....perfect for interceptions. This is why you'll still need the big stay at home dman, which the pens are missing.

Andre Roy sucks. He takes a dumb penalty every single time he steps on the ice, and oh yeah, he sucks as a fighter for a pretty big guy too.

Domi serves well in what he does best, and can play the game.

I don't understand why people like Andre Roy so much he's brutal. Domi is a way better all around player. Plus he used to be a Jet

Well Bert got a mere slap on the wrist. 13 games and a few hundred grand lost. Wow.

The system used in this league for punishing infractions on the ice is a joke. Hunter attacks Turgeon years ago, and gets 21 games for taking him out. Turgeon came back in less then 3 weeks. And therein lies my major problem with this whole ordeal. The fact the league will severely punish a player with less name value as compared to a marquee player. Happens all of the time.

If that injury was caused by any player without name value..and not some marquee player like Bert, the punishment would have been much more severe.
Bert got the star treatment, plain and simple.

ummmmm you do know if there was a season last year he wouldn't have played once. I don't think his punishment should have been withheld just cause the season stopped. 17 months the guy hassn't played hockey. He wassn't allowed to play in the world cup of hockey.

Nobody played last year(Well some) Certainly Moore hasn't.. Secondly, you dont lose anything by not playing in the word cup. Thirdly, in the end, the punishement, no matter what was handed out, would not bring Moore back, granted. But a stiffer penalty would perhaps set a precedent to possibly cause players to think on the ice before they jump off the handle with their thuggish antics.
Again, I'm not really pissed at Bert for coming back, I'm kinda miffed by the way the league handles shit like this.

again the point is if there was a season last year he would have sat out. It's not HIS fault there wassn't a season and shouldn't be forced to miss two full seasons instead of the one which it would have been.
