As for the WWE not gaining anything by lying about the contract extension, you forget one thing.

SummerSlam had still not happened yet, and IF for some reason Jericho really WERE leaving for good, which I don't believe he is (at all), something like that would make the match John Cena vs. Chris Jericho more "unpredictable" again.

Sure, WE still knew Cena was going over, but there may have been some duped into thinking Jericho had a chance after that was posted on wwe.com when previously, thinking Jericho was done with the WWE, that Cena winning was a foregone conclusion.

That said, let me make it clear that I am NOT supporting the theory that Jericho is through with the WWE.

i am so glad i stayed of my computer all night... i would of been handing out *SLAP*s left and right on this topic.

After reading up on everything today, after the news broke and after I posted earlier, I am staying out of the Jericho to TNA bullshit and keeping the idea that he WILL be back in the WWE for a fued leading up to WM. I'm guessing the target date would be him returning to be an unannounced wrestler in the rumble. that's about it

For those less wise, it could be assumed that Jericho could potentially work in a few WWE dates, if he won the match. Mind you, I'm not saying that thinking Jericho had a chance wouldn't have been stupid, but honestly, even when they first announced it, this was what I presumed the motivation was (well, this and discreditting other sites).

The whole thing just reminds me of parts I read of a 2003 shoot interview with Kurt Angle, prior to WrestleMania. Everyone knew he'd be out after Mania, with the neck surgery and all, and Kurt even mentioned this in this particular interview. Kurt, however, made it a point, to note that there would be some way he could wrestle a match or two here or there to defend the title, if he happened to retain at Mania.
