John Cena is the Champ. When he walks into the room he says "The Champ is here", so clearly he holds the most important title in the wrestling world. God how much more reason do you people need to know that someone is good.

Vermaat is the one person who could somehow manage to turn this entire board against Benoit, Angle, Bret Hart, Classy Freddie Blassy, Gorilla Monsoon, and Lou Thesz himself if he wanted to.
Seriously. Just by arguing for them. |

And just so you know, I do like Rey, but I wish the WWE would not fuck up 3/4ths of every goddamn thing that is GOOD on their shows. It's like that fear good ratings or something. I would like to see them try again in the future, though. Everything was totally wrong with this from the beginning, though (and I'm still a supporter of Rey having the title because of all the work he has put into the craft. Well, that and the news I was reading earlier this week about him being a PERFECT champion backstage with not politicing or him letting his champ status get to his head). But Rey dropping the title at JD does bring up an interesting point: Weren't they planning to have RVD cash in the MITB at the ECW ONS for Rey's title (since they both were in ECW), and wasn't that supposed to be final (or was that something else)? If so...then what the hell is going to happen with THAT plan once JBL wins the WHC? Has WWE Logic struck again? |

RE:JBL
Ah, that's what I love about the internet. People are just so willing to except one another's opinions
.While Vermaat hasn't defended his points with fact, he has voiced his OPINION. Most people here are so willing to freaking argue that they won't ignore what is being said, hence the reason this has almost 5 pages. Geez! Everyone here seemingly takes their own OPINION[there's that word again] so seriously that they totally refuse to believe someone else could believe different than themselves. Ridiculous! You'd think the entire board was full of 3-year olds. He did it! No, he did! Get over yourselves already. As for the topic, it wouldn't matter if JBL wins or not. Mysterio is gonna be out later for knee surgery, Batista is returning soon, and Angle will be back shortly. JBL's World title reign wouldn't last. Did I see someone say JBL was better than Cena? . While Cena needs improvement in the ring, at least he does actual wrestling moves[i.e. suplex, fisherman's suplex, crossbody off the top, etc]. People are acting as if JBL is a technical wrestler and that's clearly NOT true. His in-ring ability sucks and his only saving grace is that he's a good heel who can work the mic. Other than that, I see no reason why he should win the belt. Mysterio should retain and then feud with Taker or something. I'd much rather see "the Deadman" win the World title and then move on to feud with Kane than to see JBL as champion again. Bottom line: people here take their opinions WAY too seriously. If someone like Vermaat says something idiotic that you don't like, ignore it. There's no reason to have a 5-page topic that's basically beating a dead horse. |

See? Vermaat has turned the crowd FOR JBL. It's amazing! Absolutely amazing!
![]() Actually, it's very simple. Booker and Benoit are better candidates... IN REAL LIFE. However, recently, both have been booked to have middle card credibility. JBL, however, has gotten a one month push AND has the benefit of that nearly year-long reign which, while not really credible at the beginning, became credible by default because of its longevity. This is from the average fan's point of view, by the way. WE know that his reign was mostly crap, but the average fan will go "wow, JBL was champ for like 10 months; Benoit was only champ for 3, and he got beaten by that Randy Orton fella." The average fan will also look at JBL vs Rey and feel that JBL's got a much bigger size advantage. Benoit and Booker are more like Orton's size, and Rey beat him. But Rey's been killed by the hosses lately, so it's not so unbelievable that JBL can beat him. Now, when you come down to it all, both choices (Rey winning; Rey losing) are arguably bad. Rey's been made to look like a joke, and as much as you keep insisting that he's working hard, if you watch his matches, they've become almost as formulamatic as everyone else's (early speed advantage; gets hit by a power move; ten minutes of getting dominated; spirited comeback; 619; drop of the dime or some rollup; and you need that nifty bulldog in there somewhere too). So basically, you can't say JBL's a horrible choice and expect people to take you seriously when you're nothing but glowing praise for Rey. Also, JBL's definitely a pretty bad wrestler, but he's been entertaining. Now, you don't believe so, but most of the people here do. That's called opinion. You say he gets X-Pac heat, but it's more of the heat he gets when he trashes the crowd or acts racist--something heels throughout wrestling history have done. I don't think it's nice, but it's effective, and it's definitely not X-Pac heat. What's amazing is that you say JBL's boring like its a fact, but when we say Cena is boring, you react with your usual heated retort. Again, AT THE VERY LEAST, what are we doing that you're not doing, and vice versa? And that's ignoring the point that most of your arguments are unfounded, but I'm not going to argue that because you'll never accept my point of view. If Mysterio is sent packing everyone will lose faith in him completely. When he gets back from knee surgery, no one will give two shits. Plus it also means the future of SmackDown! won't be too hunky-dory. JBL vs. Bobby Lashley will be the feud over the World Heavyweight Title. Not bad, but not nearly epic. The storyline will be JBL basically taunting Lashley because he ended his undefeated streak back at No Way Out, and possibly talking about how Lashley's race should be considered immigrants, just to get extra heat. Bobby Lashley either Booker T's and does nothing but goes down the card, or he wins the World Heavyweight Title arguably more prematurely than he should. Neither scenario is pretty. This also sets up a similar scenario to when Mark Henry helped Jeff Jarrett win the Intercontinental Champion while Jarrett was still European Champion. I'm pretty sure that two days after Judgment Day, providing JBL takes the big gold belt, we will see Mark Henry presented with the red, white and blue gold. Henry's been better than expected since returning, but do we really need to see him with the United States Championship, squashing all stuggling life in the mid-card? Rey Mysterio winning at least gives us the warm feeling of knowing that those squash matches turned into a flower of sorts. JBL gets his, and the fans go home happy...ish. They still need to explain Rey's absence while he rests his leg. I think the best way to do this is an injury angle. Have Rey Mysterio beat JBL, everyone is happy, then all of sudden Mark Henry stumbles out to the ring. Henry has that "injures his opponents" thing going, so he could attack Rey, upset that JBL didn't win the belt (Layfield promised Henry a title shot) and we get Michael Cole screaming for Landmark to stop. Batista's music hits and the big man comes out to save his little buddy. The show closes with Batista holding up the World Heavyweight Championship, and then placing it with Mysterio as he is attended to. An undefeated title reign has been done recently, what with Batista taking the same route out, but it works in making Rey Mysterio look like a survivor. Mark Henry vs. Batista is bound to happen, this adds more fuel to that fire, and Henry doesn't hold a Championship this way, and it keeps him in the main event (which the WWE is persistant on for some reason). JBL continues on as WWE United States Champion. Who gets to succeed Mysterio as World Heavyweight Champion? It could really be anyone on the SmackDown! roster. I would go with Booker T. After winning the King of the Ring Tournament, Booker T would be (arguably) the hottest he's been since entering the WWE). Royal T could come out and tell Theodore Long that as King of the Ring, he should have some authority. As #1 Contender after winning the tournament, and as he know has more backstage pull due to his victory, he claims right to be Champion. You could even have Vince McMahon show up authorising it so Booker T looks more like a cheap heel Champion than a justifiable one. Theodore Long names Booker T's opponent at The Great American Bash...Dave Batista. I've called this match since it was announced Kurt Angle was out of the King of the Ring Tournament, and now they have that real-life heat, it could be a classic. Over the next few weeks, Booker T can have title matches with Chris Benoit and Gunner Scott, just to build to his eventual loss to Leviathan. When Rey Mysterio returns, the obvious thing for him to do is beat Mark Henry. It's something Rey has yet to do, and it will make him look more credible than what he currently does when he is back with a refreshed pressence. Hopefully he'll return without the "Eddie" chants. JBL is a good heel, but I don't think him beating Rey at Judgment Day is the way to go. |

So some of the lazy bastards here don't have to read everything I just wrote, here's a summary of where I would take SmackDown!:
-Booker T beats Bobby Lashley to become 2006 King of the Ring -Rey Mysterio beats JBL to retain the World Heavyweight Championship -Mark Henry "injures" Rey Mysterio after the match, Batista stands tall to end -Booker T is announced new World Heavyweight Champ by Vince -Batista is named challenger by Teddy -Booker T actually defends the belt on SmackDown! -Batista wins the title from Booker T |

Smackdown is fucked. There's no "reason" to put the title on either guy; neithe rman has proven to be a draw and both have recently been booked into oblivion (I mean, before the US win over Benoit, JBL wasputting over Lashley and Boogey Man).
But realistically, look at the talent Smackdown has lost in the last year or so: they get Hassan, Christian, and Batista in the draft. Hassan gets networked off TV, Christian goes to TNA, Batista gets hurt. Eddie dies. Angle is brought in to hold the show together and he gets hurt. You're talking about 5 experienced main eventers al lost in an 18 month span...the show wasn't that stacked to begin with. I don't know about JBL being ACCEPTABLE or not, but keeping the belt on Rey won't solve anything and he certainly won'tmake the show watchable. As for The Heat: you've been here for 5 months and you're giving morality lessons about how we should react to other people's posts? Are you serious? Do some research on Vermaat's previous posts and his general douchebaggery and maybe you'll understand why people react to him the way they do. You fucking pussy. |
