I can definitely see that happening. I was under the impression that it was just going to be Mahal vs. Roode in the finals and didn't realize the tournament was wider. Woods vs. Rawley is my pick now.

That is awesome.

Ye can definitely see it being Roode v Mahal in the final , give Roode the title and cement Mahal back in the mid card.

Then Roode should turn heel with the belt , come out and cut a promo about how glorious he is with the belt and how the audience Is all trash for even doubting he could lose to Mahal.

Y'all are crazy, this is Jinders tournament to win. No one else has a chance, that's why it English and Xavier instead of Rusev and Big E. Weak tournament but I guess it's the land of opportunity.

Mahal seemed like the obvious winner, but when you take into consideration that the US Title does not matter at all, I don't think anything is out of bounds.

Come to think of it I can see Corbin interfering to take out Roode and Ziggler will have some part to play in the outcome of it too.

Maroon found that she had something wrong with her neck and scheduled an MRI, which revealed that she had three herniated discs in her neck. Gabert also said that the bones were "all over the place."

"Of course they sent the results to the WWE doctor," Gabert said. "And then the WWE doctor contacted me and they said to me, 'We're really sorry Jazz, but we cannot give you our clearance and you are disqualified and you cannot work for WWE.'"

Sid claimed The Donald's travel ban prevented him from boarding his flight to Cleveland this morning because of an unpaid speeding ticket and he claimed this is new government policy since he didn't have his passport even though he was traveling within the United States and is a United States Citizen. We recorded his cancelation call just so there is proof of all this and we we will do our best to play the audio tonight or on a future episode of our podcast.

We apologize to all of the fans who were excited to meet Sid tonight and unfortunately this is something 100% out of our control. We invested quite a bit of money in this appearance and we have now lost out on close to $1,000 we will never get back on airline tickets, hotels, and merchandise we had made for Sid.

We are going to try and do our best to find a replacement and plan on spending the rest of the day making phone calls and trying to get somebody there to replace Sid.
From the promoter's side of the story involving Sid.

  • Besides Omega and Woods, WWE's Jack Gallagher also gave a Top 10 games list for website Giantbomb. https://www.giantbomb.com/articles/j...017/1100-5662/
  • For those interested, John Pollock and Wai Ting recently released their Christmas episode of their new Post-Wrestling podcast show for free. https://www.f4wonline.com/punch-out/...estling-248901
  • WWE currently rumored to be raising ticket prices on house show merchandise based on a recent show in Pittsburgh had shirts going for $40.
  • WWE's official website recently released a list of their Top 10 Underrated Matches of 2017. http://www.wwe.com/article/10-most-u...atches-of-2017
  • In a "WWE Did You Know" type fact, today is the 19th anniversary of Mick Foley defeating The Rock to win the WWF Championship. WWE taped that week's episode and later aired it on January 4th, 1999 which is infamous for both WCW's attempt at spoiling the results and the Fingerpoke of Doom incident. Both hurt WCW more than it helped since 600k+ viewers switched to watch WWF and Hogan getting the WCW title back is seen as the turning point of the Monday Night Wars.
  • Recent episode of With Spandex Podcast show had Braun Strowman as the guest talking about being thrown in a garbage truck at TLC 2017 and lack of time in NXT before getting promoted to RAW. http://www.wrestlinginc.com/wi/news/...ck-at-wwe-tlc/
  • Rumor going around the net is Taker will be wrestling at next year's Mania with the opponent to be revealed during the RAW 25th anniversary show. Supposedly he's been in very good shape compared to last year and WWE still refuses to consider him as officially retired. Source of the rumor could also be completely lying since it mentioned he already had hip surgery when other more reliable sheet sources said the surgery is a career ending type.

Bo Dallas is starting to look rougher. Given how quickly Bray is falling, it would not surprise me to see Bo & Bray actually end up as a tag team at some point.

I'd assume its just similar to deals WWE makes to get licensed songs for live events.

Think Triple H's "Game" theme might be the most popular for sports. Capitals are either huge fans of Lorcan or someone there thinks it fits well as a crowd pumping tune.

While they got the biggest one-day boost since the New Japan World site was launched, they are really hurting themselves with it being so difficult for English language fans. I know, many of you and me were able to sign up but you have to really want to and it's not user friendly. With the company having television in the U.S. and doing great in merchandise sales here, they really need to get a separate English language site for both easier sign-up and navigation.

About 21 episodes are scheduled to be taped for a probable summer debut on El Rey. What is interesting is Jeff Cobb is still on those shows, although that may be temporary as Cobb is expected to return for the season. I think that a lot of the guys who were unhappy and looking at getting out of their deals see it as a month of weekends that they have to cancel so it’s not that bad, and it is television exposure.

Some guys who have asked for their LU release have gotten them. Some guys on previous seasons may not be brought back due to budget cuts. Some guys who are looking to leave haven’t been given their releases and were told they need time to write them off. There may be more of a move to get out if WWE was interested, because when it comes to other groups like Impact or New Japan, they could work there while still under contract with Lucha Underground.

Sabin hasn't felt noteworthy since he got crushed under the weight of the TNA World Title. But he seemed off before then. Alex Shelley was the shining gem of wrestling for a while there, and then he left TNA and he's been around, but he's never...exploded like people thought he would.

9 p.m. 2.78 million viewers
10 p.m. 2.50 million viewers
This week also had some Good/Bad news with the good being it didn't get as hammered for the demo rankings and the bad being it still suffered a sizeable drop compared to same week last year.

"New Japan Fallout Down Under" will consist of four shows, a February 16th date at the Adelaide Titanium Arena, a February 17th date at Festival Hall in Melbourne, February 18th in Sydney at the Quay Centre, and February 19th in Perth at HBF Stadium. All four shows will be configured for crowds of less than 5,000 fans. Festival Hall is best known as the weekly home of World Championship Wrestling during the heyday of pro wrestling in Australia.

Charlie Armstrong's Modern Vintage Wrestling, a promotion that also runs North Carolina that shared Stutts as booker, canceled their scheduled 1/20 event after a number of talents, many of whom were CWF regulars, publicly announced they would not be appearing on the show, which was scheduled to be headlined by appearances by Tommy Dreamer and Ricky Steamboat. After a number of the cancellations were announced, the decision was made to drop the show. Last night, MVW announced that Stutts had stepped down as booker and would also no longer be involved in Gimmick Tree Entertainment, a related business that brought talents in for conventions.

Nova Pro Wrestling in Virginia would also later announce that they were no longer working with Stutts.

Sources close to CWF have noted that the company felt so strongly about the Stutts situation that storylines were being changed specifically to break away from direction that may have been associated to Stutts' work.

CWF released the following statement on their social media yesterday: "We want to thank the tremendous outpouring of support for CWF Mid-Atlantic in this difficult time. CWF Mid-Atlantic had no choice in this matter. We have standards that we all must adhere to be in a position to represent our company. Our locker room is strong and united over this and we intend to not only persevere, but grow stronger with the dedication of all our team. We ask that our fans stick with us as we move forward. Thank you again for your support!"

Of course, the major question obviously in your brain if you are reading this is, "What the hell did Stutts do?" The reality is that there are a lot of stories that have made the rounds related to Stutts and Charlie Armstrong over the last 48 hours, but no one has been willing to go on record with the situation, so until someone does, it's not going to come out beyond whispered allegations. I can report that most of the stories center around alleged inappropriate communication with a staffer for CWF. That's about all I feel comfortable writing currently. Stutts, who finally responded to PWInsider.com last night, declined to comment and as noted, no one else has gone on record.

* I was thinking "cool gig" for Joe. He's joining the cast with Mark Hamill, Ron Perlman, Jamie King and Mikey Way. I had to look up Mikey Way, but I know plenty of people who used to listen to My Chemical Romance during "that time." Everyone else is a fairly big deal. Good for him.

* Who would go to Luke Gallows to learn how to wrestle?

* Is anyone shocked that the Women's Revolution is complete and utter bullshit?

The idea for "All In" began when Dave Meltzer tweeted last May that Ring of Honor couldn't sell out an arena with over 10,000 fans any time soon. Cody took that as a bet, and it was revealed in November that Cody and The Young Bucks were planning to self-finance the show.

September 1st is on a Saturday during Labor Day weekend. That weekend is traditionally when Pro Wrestling Guerrilla's Battle of Los Angeles tournament takes place. In an interview with the AV Club last October, ROH's Joe Koff said he believes Daniel Bryan is under contract with WWE until September. If the deal expires after the 1st, it would mean Bryan is unavailable for the show regardless of what his future with WWE ends up being.

Depends. FOX has a stronger tv reach than USA Network but would also be owning a product with weaker viewer appeal than UFC. Also depends which network of theirs gets the WWE since regular FOX has a much larger base than FS1 but has to deal with local news demands while FS1 viewership might not be fond of having WWE mixed with pro sports.

Also possibly they could be like AOL was to WCW and be a lot less forgiving or hands-off if WWE keeps struggling with viewers. They already have shows doing a lot better than RAW/Smackdown so WWE loses a big advantage there.

Fans used to do the "Woo" at Shane Douglas when he was nailing (or being hit with) chops to get under his skin, since he had ragged on Ric Flair so much. That evolved into fans doing it whenever there were chops and eventually, it moved over to fans watching other promotions doing the same, similar to fans doing the "One Fan" back to the ring announcers, which originated with UK fans.

It jumped back to 70,000 for the G-1 finals and hovered at that level most of the rest of the year. It was at 65,000 in December and jumped to 70,000 on 1/3 in the U.S. It was up to 82,000 a few hours before the show started, and between the show and New Year’s Dash the next day, it was at 95,000 after Dash ended and 97,000 by the next morning U.S. time. On the afternoon of 1/9,it had increased to 99,784, so it likely topped 100,000 by the end of that day. So the increase in subscribers last year for the show was 15,000 and this year was 35,000. It still pales compared to WWE numbers, but it’s amazing growth. The key is of those 35,000 newcomers, how many continue through February? Most probably won’t, but nobody was counting on most, just an increase from what was the previous long-term base.

In theory, it should have been slightly more difficult to grow this year than last because the service is a year older, but interest in New Japan is also up. It’s probably unfair to credit Jericho vs. Omega with 20,000 new subs over and above what they’d have gotten, but 15,000 is not a stretch at all, and that’s a $128,000 value alone let alone if it adds 5,000 to the base it’s worth another $484,000 for the year.

It is possible the cruiserweight title could be moved to the pre-show or even one of the tag title matches, but that’s still 72 to 76 wrestlers. There’s probably going to be at least one or two more pre-show matches since they do a two-hour pre-show for big cards, and probably one will be multiple person match. So the whole nearly six hour show will probably end with more than 80. The all-time record for a PPV main show up to this point is 60 wrestlers, held by the World War III show from WCW which had a 60 man Battle Royal once, and WrestleMania 30 which booked 60 people. This past year’s Mania had 33 on the main show but 37 on the pre-show, for a total of 70.

It was the only move they could make that makes sense. While Donald appointed Linda McMahon to a cabinet post, Donald is a very divisive character. He’s beneficial to the company in many ways. Donald has spearheaded legislation for tax cuts on businesses like theirs, which is one of the reasons the stock price has grown. But while they support him, their fan base leans heavily the other way, as WWE fans skew heavily Democratic, heavy Mexican-American and heavily low income and there is no logical point in doing anything to alienate your fan base.

2016 into 2017 was one issue after another for WWE star Paige. 2017 into 2018 was supposed to be her major comeback to WWE, her redemption. Inside the ring, sadly, that will not be the case.

In a situation described as similar to WWE Hall of Famer Adam "Edge" Copeland's medical disqualification from the ring, WWE star Paige (Saraya-Jade Bevis, 25 years old) was informed this week that she will not be cleared to return to the ring after her most recent in-ring injury, PWInsider.com has confirmed with multiple sources. It is believed Paige was given the news at the Raw taping this past Monday. We have been told by multiple sources she is "done" as an in-ring wrestler.

During a six woman tag team bout on 12/28/17 at the Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale, Long Island, Paige had her back to Sasha Banks, who was behind her against the turnbuckles. Banks used the ropes to pull herself up and kicked with both legs into Paige's back. Paige, obviously not ready for the bump, went down ...

It was believed at the time that Paige had suffered a stinger, leading to her losing feeling in her extremities. Given her previous neck surgery, WWE pulled her from the ring and set up further testing that led to this week's decision ...

The irony of the situation, a number of sources have pointed out, is that no one would think there was anything physically wrong by looking at Paige, making it even more unthinkable that she, at 25, is being removed from WWE competition ...

While Paige will not be allowed to wrestle going forward by the company, we are told that she is extremely well liked by management, so one would think she would remain with the company in some capacity. She was featured on reality series Total Divas, so that's a possible vehicle for her, as are WWE Studios feature films. It's also possible the company could tap her to Coach in the NXT system or attempt to transition her into another on camera role.

Pretty much. Some of the libraries they've purchased were not 100% complete as the standard in the era was to utilize the same tapes over and over. While WWWF maintained an archive, most TV promotions did not, since there was no way to monetize the tapes. There were no VCRs, much less the idea of streaming technology coming up on the landscape. So, some of the content has been lost forever. When WWE can, they do their best to fill the gaps, including reaching out to private collectors.

Interestingly, WWE does not seem to have an active 'Cactus Jack' trademark. They did have one that was abandoned in 2010.

The Cactus Jack name, obviously, was created by WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley and has been used by Foley since he first debuted in professional wrestling in the late 1980s. The name was actually a tribute to Foley's father, as told in Mick's first autobiography Have A Nice Day!

PWInsider.com has confirmed that the updated screenplay has been completed and turned into the studio. Should they approve, it will be sent on to Cooper and his team.

Plans have been for the film to begin filming in the Spring of 2018, but that has always been contingent on getting casting completed and a final, approved shooting script in place.

The script to Pandemonium was originally written by Craig A. Williams (who wrote Disney's live action Underdog adaptation few years back) back in 2015 and has undergone several drafts. The belief was that once WWE Studios became involved with the project, the existing script would undergo heavy rewrites to remove some of aspects of the film that the McMahon family would not be happy with. That has now happened.

First, the content on the Network that you refer to is older and behind a pay wall. It is not the current product and isn’t subject to advertisers. I can’t say if USA would be amenable to your idea or not, but even if they were, sponsors like Mattel wouldn’t be. WWE would rather have the better perception from Wall Street and potential partners than appealing to an older audience. Also, keep in mind that Vince McMahon has always been about marketing to kids. We only ever got the Attitude Era because the then-WWF was losing badly to WCW and Vince McMahon stepped out of his comfort zone with the product. Once he won the war, he went back to doing what he likes to do.

It's worth noting that WWE reportedly announced Jericho without there being a deal for the return. It was noted on today's edition of Wrestling Observer Radio that Jericho will likely appear next Monday but WWE did announce him prematurely. Dave Meltzer added that a deal could be signed today, if it hasn't been made already.

The talk of Jericho appearing at RAW 25 goes back several months. New Japan Pro Wrestling officials also knew that Jericho would be appearing at RAW 25 when they recently worked with him. Jericho is not signed to any kind of exclusive NJPW contract and he's not currently signed to a WWE deal.

It's notable that SmackDown ratings had been up since AJ Styles won the WWE Championship and since the main event storylines have revolved around Styles, Shane McMahon, Daniel Bryan, Kevin Owens, and Sami Zayn. This week, there was virtually no advancement in that storyline. Owens and Zayn didn't appear and Style only did a brief interview segment.

The episode instead revolved around the semifinals and finals of the United States title tournament and featured Jinder Mahal wrestling for almost 40 minutes.

This began when a phone interview with Rodriguez was released on YouTube where he alleged that he dealt steroids to Reigns and actors Mark Wahlberg and Josh Duhamel under assumed names. Rodriguez, owner of a gym in Miami, Florida, is facing charges for conspiracy to distribute anabolic steroids and money laundering in a $10 million operation that crossed international waters. Wahlberg also has denied the claims.

The 'mistake' the 32-year-old Reigns is referring to was his 30-day suspension in June 2016 after failing a wellness test for what Dave Meltzer reported was Adderall.

Turns out WWE has the power to suspend people under the Wellness Policy even if they don't actually fail tests.

There are three major promotions on the island with CWA currently being No. 1 and has been running 200-seat buildings even after the hurricane. WWL, which averaged 512 fans per show before the hurricane, has the best talent and the best matches. That’s the group that Savio Vega is a part owner of and that Hector Melendez and Dennis Rivera (Savio’s son) are bookers, and Konnan has worked with. Melendez was on track to get a role with The Crash, but his contact was Konnan so that fell apart. The high interest level of Wrestle Kingdom in Puerto Rico was explained as how the fan base has changed and are less interested in American storylines or the heavy juice style and are more interested in match quality and Japanese strong style and Mike Mendoza has gotten a good fan base by combining freestyle wrestling and Jiu Jitsu with fast pacing and heavy strikes.

Jeff Cobb will be working the next season of Lucha Underground as Matanza Cueto. It’s known he’s been looking to get out so he may be on the list of guys who are coming back to be written out. Obviously Cobb is looking at working more regularly with New Japan, and Impact has shown an interest (although his Lucha Underground contract wouldn’t block him from Impact) and we don’t know about ROH but him going to ROH would seem to make sense
