Bottom line is, it is Mandaric's money in Portsmouth, not Harry Redknapp's. Mandaric has backed Harry for all of his signings, and as cheap as they are, Portsmouth have an enormous wage bill for a club of their stature. They'd be ****ed if they got relegated.

Mandaric has a right to protect his investment as he see fits, and if he feels he can get a better coach that Jim Smith (who is no Marcelo Lippi) then he has a right to try and change things for the better. Harry did the same thing at West Ham: bought alot of players and sent the wage bill soaring. He wasted every penny of the £18 million fee they got for Rio Ferdinand.

Portsmouth have a good squad, but Mandaric can take as much credit from it as Harry Redknapp. They could find a better manager than Harry.

I still disagree. It might be Mandaric's money, but I do not think they can get a better manager. Who honestley wants to go to a club where they have to sell players, and can't bring any in (this is basically what you are saying), will be battling with relegation, and it is also some big shoes to fill.

Redknapp wasted every penny of the 18 million? Look at Veron at United, that was a waste, Liverpool have spent shocking money on shit people, all managers make mistakes. The board pressured Redknapp into selling Rio, and then he had to try and get a suitable replacement cheap, admittidley the 6million on Daily wasn't cheap and didn't pay off but Rio was irriplaceble to West Aam and the board knew that. But if Redknapp did that bad with his replacements, then how did West Ham come 6th in the league the season after he left, it was still almost the same team as his one. He raised players like Frank Lampard and Joe Cole, he is good at brining people through the ranks.

As for Mandaric taking as much credit as Harry? the way I see it, Harry should take more credit, Mandaric hired Rix as a manager, and that didn't exactly pay off, without Mandaric someone else would probably bankroll the club, without Harry Pompey would be at the wrong end of Division one.

I really would like you to list some better managers that then can get, bearing in mind any manager will want to bring in his own staff, and buy players, and Mandaric has made it clear that he wants the wage bill slashed, so hardly anyone will come in, and players must be sold first.

Manchester United can afford to spend big on world class players. If it doesn't work out, they won't go bust. Also, I think Liverpool could get a much better manager that Gerard Houillier.

There are a number of talented managers in the lower divisions who are well able to cope with a tight budget and difficult conditions. It doesn't help, really, that alot of Harry's signings are older players who command big wages but have no re-sale value.

Harry Redknapp did way more than anyone could have asked of him in 2 years. He and Jim Smith together have done a blinding job and I can't believe they would even think for a second that splitting that team would be a good idea. They would have never survived the season without them both. They would have never had signed the players they did without them both.

His players don't have resale value? Those who don't didn't cost anything to start with so you never lost any money. Pay them until their deals expire and let them leave e.g. Teddy Sheringham (who did a great job for them).

I still don't think he'll finish next season and if he doesn't, Portsmouth are down.

Sheringham played well for the first couple of months, he has basically done nothing since then. He has been injured most of the time. Now Harry is talking about signing Martin Keown, who will again command a big wage, and probably spend most of the season injured.

Harry is a likable guy, and a decent manager, but it won't be the end of the world for Portsmouth. Mandaric has the ambition to cement them as a Premiership side, that's why he wants to get a better technical coach in (George Leekens, apparently).

They aren't going to collapse just because Harry Redknapp leaves. There is plenty of lower division managerial talent to tap if clubs take a chance. Everton did with Moyes, Southampton have with Sturrock.

I'm not a Liverpool fan but its clear to see that Houllier doesn't know what he is doing.

I don't think anyone else is going to be able to organise that group of players better than Redknapp did personally. They need a British manager.

Oh yeah, and Paul Sturrock at Southamption will end in tears for the scummers.

I'm all for Houllier going (I am a Liverpool fan) but he isn't a terrible manager. He has made plenty of really bad decisions for the last 2 seasons, which would justify a reason for sacking him, but prior to last season, the guy was turning the club around from the state Souness and Evans had left it in.

Also, Heskey isn't terrible, he is just hugely inconsistent.

Yeah everyone is saying Heskey isn't good enough when he's scored about 12 goals,probably more than Rooney and Vassell who have a chance of going to Euro 2004.

I dunno,i am biased for him but still,some criticism seems unfair.

To be fair, a lot of Southampton fans aren't impressed with Sturrock because of his direct HOOF approach. I'd give him some time personally.

Great match today, great goals from Yakubu. If he keeps up like that, we wont be able to hang on to him and trust me, we'll make a profit if we sell him

The fans showed that they wanted all 3 to stick together and both Redknapp and Eagle looked happy during the Lap of Honour.

A great end to a fantastic season.

Also. Michael Ricketts is FAT.

Lardel made his debut for Bolton against Pompey at Fratton Park and it was 0-0 at the time, he came on as a sub and me and my mate were going "oooh, this could be bad now." until he came on and we realised he was obese and we went on to win 4-0 and go top of the premiership for the night after Fat Sam had said he'd give us a "welcome to the premiership".

Rob Stiles is beyond shit. My old man hates Man United and even he was cringing watching that match with decisions. The guy is so petty it's unreal. Two red cards that should never had been. A probable penalty and a goal that looked fine to all but one man watching disallowed. I hope they send this guy back to Sunday leagues next season.

So I waited for the players after the game, one of Abramovich's men floored a fan, this 40 something year old, for no reason apparently, I came over just after it happened and didn't see it. Funny thing is, no one knew he was one of Abramovich's men till about an hour and a half later when he got in the same car as Roman. The bloke that got floored wanted to make a complaint, but they just kept staring at him and telling him to stop repeating himself.

Also, when Kenyon came out he got booed

And Robert Huth grinned and said cheers to me when I congratulated him on sorting Shearer out.

I'm not a Liverpool fan but its clear to see that Houllier doesn't know what he is doing.

I'll have to agree with Cheyrou, Diao and Biscan as they have been terrible. But with Diouf and Heskey he brought two players that have let themselves down.
It wasn't Houllier being a terrible manager as they were quality players, remember Diouf tearing apart the French defence in the last World Cup.
I disagree with most people, Heskey isn't a great player but his link up play is good with Owen and they make a good partnership.
What I hate about Houllier is that he has a tendency to buy players and play them in different positions that what there used to. Diouf was great as a striker, on the wing he's shown as quite poor. He tries to do to much.
Heskey has let himself down but once again why sometimes is he played on the wing? It's not his position.
For this look at Henchoz not playing in central defence.(I like the look of Carragher in the centre). The constant playing of a Defensive midfielder at central defence etc.
Plus with our fowards we've had no consistency because one of them is always injured, Owen being out for parts and Baros having a legnthy lay off.
I think Baros is a good player, every time I've seen him play he runs for everything and never gives up. We should play him more. Plus I liked the look of le Tallec and Sinima-Pongolle, they were just brought in to early. Houllier was pressurised into it by the French FA.
Good luck to Heskey if he goes to Brum, I hope he does well there and shuts up alot of his critics.

Yeah I think that it is Franks agent that is doing the talking, and is the one who wants the bigger contract not Frank, but seriously if we let Lampard go for any price it will sum up what a joke Peter Kenyon is. I think that if it came down to selling Frank or giving him a new contract, we woud give him a new contract. And give one to Carlo whilst their at it.

Him and Veron are on almost £65,000 a week more than Cudicini.

Anyway,i don't think Lampard should be to greedy,maybe 70k maximum seeing as John Terry isn't complaining and he's not earning too much more than Lampard.

I think it is just paper talk. It's obvious that Joe Cole could go to another club as he doesnt play enough, Everton need some good players, its an obvious link really, I doubt there is any truth in it.
