Ankiel story is great, he was an avg pitcher that got sent to the minors and starting making an impact in batting and now hes gonna return as an OF.

be interesting to see how well Ankiel does. It's easy to laugh him off, but really this is a great story. Can't help but root for the guy a little.

I dunno what the next model up is from the Howitzer, but apparently that's what Ankiel's arm is like so he should at least be able to hang around with just his defense. I hope he does well to the extent that he makes some cool plays without helping the Cardinals improve at all. That and he rocks the baller socks again.

Kyle Farnsworth is such a joke. How someone can throw 100 MPH and still struggle to get every single person he faces out is beyond me. Seven innings of one run ball by Pettitte and then Farnsworth comes in, that pretty much is the sign we are going to lose.

Halladay seemed pretty much lights out after that first inning. Haven't watched every inning but from what I saw. Was his pitch count high or what?

He was getting stronger. Pettitte pitched well too, but you could tell he was labouring. Gibbons just did the automatic "we have lead, it's the 8th inning" thing...

Downs got out of that.

Gibbons should have challenged the ground rule double earlier in the game, had h, I'm sure he'd have gotten a run to score. Clayton was running from 1st on a 3-2 count with 2 outs when the ground rule double was hit. That play has resulted more times than not in the runner scoring.
