Lakers really seem to banking on Dwight willing to not care about money next year considering he wants a mega deal and they can't afford it like Dallas or potentially Brooklyn can.

Dwight seemed ecstatic in his press conference and handled everything very well. Of course he's not gonna talk about re-signing, dude can make hella more money by signing his extension at the end of the year. Mitch wouldn't make this deal if he didn't know D12 would re-sign. Reporters kept asking him the same questions over and over, which was stupid. D12 is sooo Shaq-like it's funny. Sense of humor, demeanor, nickname, awful free throw shooter I'm beyond excited for the year, I truly feel like the Lakers are now a championship caliber team again. Hope D12 is back by late November and his back heals properly... I assume Gasol starts the year at C and Antawn Jamison starts at PF. I apologize for this awful post, too many thoughts running through my mind about all this.

Howard wanted to leave Orlando because he realized (as did Lebron) that he couldn't win a Championship there, he couldn't lead that team to a Title. So now, with Kobe's help, he can get his ring.

The Lakers are Kobe's team. So, for now, Howard did take a lesser role, in that he won't be the leader of that team, as opposed to in Orlando, where he was the leader of the Magic.

If Howard signs an extension in LA, once Kobe retires, then it'll be Dwight's team. But for now? No, it's Kobe's team.

Lebron left Cleveland via free agency, while Dwight Howard bitched and moaned and forced his way out of Orlando.

But it's cool. I had no problem with Lebron meeting up with Bosh and D-Wade in Miami, and I have no problem with Howard meeting up with Kobe in LA.

Kobe Bryant went through what Lebron went through, but he' been able to shake-off the whole "next MJ" talk, and the media has laid off him. Of course, he never wore #23 in the NBA or had "his people" referr to him as "King Kobe".

Lebron just has to keep winning and it'll go away.

BTW, I did say I had no problem with Lebron going to Miami with Bosh and Wade, and I have no problem with Howard going to LA.

Keith, I understood your viewpoint before. I agree Kobe made a smarter move by chosing to go with '24' instead of 23. He has always had the 'I'm better than MJ' chip on his shoulder, but winning has helped him grow into his own man.

I meant most of the questions to be rhetorical, thought provoking questions that people who usually pan Lebron to consider before panning him again.
