well that was a much better performance, which just goes to show I was right when i said 4-5-1 was the wrong formation. Once we went 3-5-2 and went for it we may well have got a draw.

I think its fair to say Sean Davis is the best midfielder ever.

Andres D'Alessandro has told skysports.com about his delight at his impending move to Portsmouth.

Skysports.com revealed on Monday that Pompey had beaten a host of top European clubs to the signature of the Argentine, who is currently with Wolfsburg.

The details of the transfer have yet to be finalised, but he is expected to join on loan until the end of the season and then will join the club permanently - if Pompey win their battle to avoid relegation.

"I am very excited," D'Alessandro told skysports.com.

"I am very happy to know that I am wanted in England and to play for Portsmouth is a great opportunity.

"I am very pleased that this move is happening.

"I know Harry Redknapp is a great man and I am looking forward to working with him."

D'Alessandro has already agreed personal terms and he will complete a medical on Tuesday morning before sealing his move, providing there are no last minute hitches with final talks between Pompey and Wolfsburg - although no problems are foreseen.

The deal is a major coup for Pompey and will be their ninth of the transfer window, although skysports.com understand that D'Alessandro may not be the last incoming transfer with another striker on the list of potential targets.

We could do with a player who can play the holding role (Sissoko isn't good enough) leaving Xabi as Playmaker and Stevie out on the right to knock them in and just generally do what he does.

I've never seen him play, only ever heard hype about him. Going to Wolfsburg then Portsmouth doesn't exactly suggest he's worth the hype, but we'll see.

I first saw D'Alessandro when he was 19 in an U21 game, probably the same one Redknapp first spotted him at. Needless to say he was awesome in that, although i don't know how he's progressed.

Managed to offload de Vries for the season, which is nice. Rob Earnshaw is going to Norwich too.

D'Alessandro will do nothing for Pompey, he wont be able to play good football with that team around him.

The DJ transfer is just.....madness.

Joey Barton could do a job, and at least he can pass the ball.

Besides if we signed him, he and Sissoko could take it in turns to be suspended.

D'Alessandro has had problems with Wolfdburg. He has been trying to leave for a while but he needed a European passport to get a move (no work permit in Britain and wouldn't be an overseas player in Spain or Italy). This is probably the start of his move out of Germany. West Ham and Man U wanted him bad like 3 years ago.

I seriously want to know who makes more than 30k at Man City. No way is Barton worth that. I don't even think Cristiano Ronaldo makes that at Man United.

Fowler was the top earner on 35k as far as I know main part of his move to Liverpool from a City point of view. Can't see there being many more on over 30k Bartons just a fucking cunt.

Italian football is the least entertaining of the big 3.

I dunno if you watched it in the end, but it was always destined to be 1-0. Fulham tend to play well at home and Tottenham are very good side, so a win by a goal was inevitable
