Here come the Yankees...(hopefully)

At a season high 4 games over .500 lol and won 11 of their last 14.

7 back from Boston and 6 from Cleveland. Still a pretty big hill to climb though, hopefully the Sox can help out and keep losing to the Royals.

Yeah. The only downer lately, and John Sterling mentioned this on the radio while I was at work a little while ago, is that the last handfull of games have been draging on as of late.

Yeah, I have been really impressed with the Yankees thus far. The Yankees are like 5 games out of the Wildcard. (After Cleaveland lost to the White Sox) And 7 games out of the AL East. For the first half the Yankees were so bad when they weren't leading by at least 4 or 5 runs. But up until tonight they won 4 games all by 1 or 2 runs. I really think The Yankees seem to be on a roll. And if Wang does it tomorrow we would have swept the Toronto Blue Jays. I'm just hoping they keep at this. It seems like things are going well for the Yankees.

The bullpen is still a huge problem though, Cashman really needs to sort that out. They used 4 pitchers to get through 1.1 innings after Roger left and before Mo came in. Mariano can't be pitching 5 out saves everyday.

Some Yankees fans really piss me off.

My area is loaded with them...and when they were struggling, they all acted apathetic towards baseball...and they seemingly couldn't bring themselves to wear the gear or call themselves fans.

5 game winning streak and all the bandwagoners have come out.

I don't know if there's any solid middle relief around. Cashman wants to trade Proctor but nobody wants him.

I don't know why they don't just bring up Chris Britton. He's good.

I really believe getting rid of Myers/Farnsworth and bringing up Britton/Henn would help the pen out a lot. I think a lefty specialist who pitches once or twice a week for one batter is useless. And when the lefty specialist can't get out lefties he's just completely useless.

Proctor is a big part of our pen right now, and if he wasn't used everyday he could be really solid.

I don't get how Farnsworth is so bad. It boggles my mind. I don't think he'll ever suceed in New York. He needs to go. I've been saying for a year that Bruney should be the 8th inning guy.

What's the deal with this Edwar Ramirez guy? He seems ok.

Yeah, he is a huge headcase. Like I said before, its amazing a guy could have such a hittable 100 MPH fastball.

The only problem with bringing up the young guys is that they have to gain Torre's trust or whatever. Ramirez has pitched twice since he's been up and the last time was 13 days ago. I understand Torre not wanting to throw him into big situations too quickly but it seems every game since the all-star break has been a close one. And Joe liked to use Proctor in the blow out games before the break, (why, I don't know) which is crazy.

Cubbies are going to work with the trades. How they survived today with 2 Bonds bombs just stuns me. Speaking of which, anybody hear if Mark Cuban is gonna end up grabbing them? I know he filed paperwork, but I've heard nothing since then.

I guess it was a tough loss for the Yankees today. I missed the game entirely, but from what I heard today, Wang was solid up till the 7th then fell apart.

Aside from the bullpen talk I'm hearing about, here's my take on it. Yes, I think Kyle Farnsworth has run his course. I was hoping those spiffy glasses he wears might do something to him, but I think it only made him worse.

Ever since his bonfire, Scott Proctor has been nothing but great.

Brian Bruney is getting better. He just needs some one on one time with Guidry and he might be all set.

Mariano Rivera is getting back into the swing of things, but as Dragon said above, Joe Torre gotta start laying off the panic button and bringing him in with one or two outs in the 8th.

I can't wait for Joba Chamberlain to get called up. He might be able to save the bullpen. Apparently he was hitting 100 MPH during the futures game and has 3 solid pitches. 57 K's in 34 IP at AA with a 1.01 WHIP. He's probably better than anything else we've got out there.

Do you think he would be called up for the pen this year? I can't wait until he's in the rotation sometime next year, should be fun to actually watch some young guys next season in Hughes and Joba.

I wouldn't mind having him up for that last part of the season when rosters expand. As long as they keep him in the starters role for next year. And I think Britton should be up now. Need to get rid of Myers or Farnsworth, its just not working with them. Hell, get rid of them both and bring Henn up with Britton.

There's probably a market for Mike Myers. I can't see anyone taking Farnsworth though, with the money he makes and how terrible he's been. Mo should try working with him or something. He straightened out Luis Vizcaino.
