Kinda seems like. Dunno. Maps all feel mad huge and I never encounter any enemies. Played a squad deathmatch and got like 2 kills I think because I couldn't find anyone. So I started playing Rush I think, where you destroy/defend the stations and it all feels just massive.

Doesn't seem like there's much reason to play anything other than Recon class.

My 360 should be up and running by then so I'll definitely be getting it for that.

Still kind of skeptical of playing this on console. When I had BF2 on PC I not only played 64 player battles, but I downloaded a mod that bumped it up to 120.

When playing the Bad Company games, I encountered the same misgivings as blitz. Maps were just too big for 32 player battles. Same deal with Frontline.

I don't know why we can't have more than 32 players on consoles. MAG has proven it's possible to have up to 256 players, and that's been out over a year now, so I don't know what the deal is.

Didn't MAG use a trick where the battles were only 16v16 but the server could hold up to 256 people per match and your actions affected the other matches going on at the same time.

nope. put you in squads and gave you objectives but you could see all the other players on the map and even leave your squad to go fight with them if you wished.

Ok well now I'm kind of disappointed. First time this game has disappointed me in previews.

They said the console player limit will be 24.

12 on 12.. that is terrible. The PC version will be 32 vs 32.

I assumed they would make the console limit 32. Those 8 people make a difference, IMO. They are also scaling down the maps for the console versions. But this takes a lot away from the game IMO. 32 vs 32 is a completely different experience than 12 vs 12. =\

On the PC version you can play with up to 64 people in multiplayer on full-size maps. On PS3 and Xbox 360, the number of players has been cut to just 24 and the maps reduced in size accordingly.

The reason for the difference is one of compromise based on the limitations of the console hardware. DICE wanted to give everyone the same experience, so were unwilling to compromise on how the game looked and the gameplay on offer. That meant something else had to be sacrificed and player numbers seemed like the best option.

Yes, but those other games weren't designed for 64 player battles. They were designed for 24 players (ala BC2, which didn't feel that 'massive' to me)

More than likely the console versions will be adjusted for the player size. The concept of Rush mode itself took into account the smaller than PC player size, by limiting how much map was used. The Conquest variations in BC2 were similarly limited, putting more emphasis on depth than scale.

Bad Company 2 was still very good.

If the PC version of B3 is the superior version, fine, PC gamers deserve a bone given recent trends. What I'll get with the console is still fine by me. It's still an enhanced Battlefield sequel, with my buds as my squad mates. 64plyr battles would be badass as fuck, but 24 is still a damn good number relative to most console shooters.

First of all, Bad Company is not traditional Battlefield. Secondly, even in those games, no, it wasn't fine. Maps were still too big for the player count.

DICE already confirmed in a past report the maps are going to be adjusted for console players and not be an exact copy from the PC version. I think it was confirmed the same time they announced the player differences and people were concerned about the console maps being too big.

They realized they made a mistake with Bad Company 2 and the last Medal of Honor game where they didn't optimize the maps for smaller console matches which ended up being a big problem especially with the Medal of Honor reboot.

They're not that bad. I know it says "quad core CPU", but the minimum Core2Duo will smoke that game if you have a decent GFX card.

have a 2.6Ghz dual core, and an 8800GS

Not the worst setup, but ugh.. I know I can probably RUN the game, but it will look like shit and that kills half the reason for getting it on PC.

It'll be worth a PC for it. Just get it. BC2 is no real BF. And whoever invented the massive Heavy Metal for BC2 needs a kick in the balls. Cannot believe the amount of servers that have that. It's too big for 16v16 Nevermind the 24 man servers out there with it on.

Yeah, I'll probably just go with COD 3. Been wanting to get a desktop PC for a while now, so I'll probably just save my money to get one that can run BF 3 fairly well. By the time I do, there will likely be a lot of user generated maps already out, so it will work out great.
