76. Samoa Joe
Talk about a divisive wrestler. Here at TPWW posting Samoa Joe at number 76 will most likely get me jeered and have people talking about how I have him way too high. If I were to post this on another wrestling message board they may very will jeer me for having him far too low. Joe is a strange wrestler indeed since he is a guy that despite not be particularly old he has gotten significantly worse since 2007 (not surprisingly the last time he was a full time member of ROH was 2007, coincidence?) I’m not here to talk about Joe’s downfall as a wrestler, is it his fault, is it TNA’s or is it both? This will not be debated here. What I want to talk about is why Samoa Joe is on the list. Samoa Joe is on this list because he’s a hell of a wrestler. When Samoa Joe is on his game he is truly a wrestler to behold. He is very athletic for his size but also very smart in the ring. Samoa Joe’s reign as ROH Champion was the first truly imposing run a wrestler has had since Goldberg 1998, but instead of having 6 minute squash matches like Goldberg Joe went 15 to 20 minutes every time he defended the title. Samoa Joe could be a really great promo man if he just knew how to control himself. If you’ve only seen his screaming promos I’m sure you’ll roll your eyes at him even being an adequate mic man, but when he gets really arrogant and has a sneer on his face he cuts some really good promos. The strength of Joe is in his wrestling though, and that’s why he’s on this list. When Samoa Joe is really on his game his truly is a devastating force. Favorite Moment: It was Kurt Angle’s first night at TNA and everyone was hyped to see the biggest signing in the history of TNA (that I think was the 3rd time TNA used the biggest signing in their history of TNA, 5 or so more would follow.) Angle comes out and everyone was excited and then Joe comes out to the ring to confront Angle and it was the biggest show down in the history of indy wrestling geek history. Then Angle headbutts Joe and legit busts him up causing a riot in the Impact Zone a great way to build a match in one moment. Favorite Match: Christopher Daniels [c] v. AJ Styles v. Samoa Joe (Three Way Dance for the TNA X Division Championship, TNA Unbreakable 2005) |

I like this list. It is your favourite wrestlers... not the best wrestlers. Some of you are retarded.

75. Lex Luger
When it comes to wrestlers I’m a mark for they really fall into three categories: 1) wrestlers I like now and never liked before, 2) wrestlers I like now and have always liked (this is the largest section) 3) wrestlers I liked when I was young and have soured on through time yet I still like them… Section three sounds confusing, because it is. Lex Luger is one of those rare wrestlers. As a kid I was a mark for Lex Luger because he was friends with one of my favorite wrestlers of all time. As I moved from “mark” to “smart” I began to realize that Lex Luger wasn’t all that great. But the mark is strong in me… I know Lex Luger is a limited wrestler with mediocre mic skills, but I can’t help but still liking him. When I was young I liked him and that is a very hard thing to shake. Some of my fondest memories of wrestling have to do with Lex Luger, whether it is his reign with Sting as tag team champions, his winning the WCW Championship against Hollywood Hogan or slamming Yokozuna on the USS Intrepid and the ensuing Lex Express, Lex Luger holds some of my favorite moments in wrestling. I feel like I’m trashing Lex Luger here and I feel like I should defend him at least a little. In the times of body builder wrestlers such as Hulk Hogan or The Ultimate Warrior, Lex Luger was a far superior wrestler to either of them. His promos during his run as the Narcissist were all good and his promos during the early days of the nWo were among the most coherent and passionate given. Lex owes much of his quality as a wrestler to Ric Flair. Without Ric Flair’s veteran influence Luger’s in ring prowess would be somewhere between Hogan and Warriors. Favorite Moment: When Ric Flair left of the WWF he vacated the WCW Championship and a steel cage that was suppose to be Luger versus Flair. Barry Windham took over Flair’s position. I was such a mark for Luger at the time that I couldn’t even be in the room as the match was drawing to its conclusion. When Harley Race came to the ring I asked my dad if he was a good guy or a bad guy, he told me “bad guy.” I left the room expecting Windham to win through nefarious means, instead Luger won through nefarious means. I thought Harley Race had turned good, instead Luger turned bad. But for that moment I was a very happy wrestling fan. Favorite Match: Ric Flair [c] v. Lex Luger (Championship Can Change Hands Via Disqualification Match for the NWA World Heavyweight Championship, WCW Starrcade 1988 – “True Gritt”) |

Only just caught up with this thread today, and although I disagree with a lot of TSO's opinions, it's still an interesting read, and good job posting half of this knowing you'll get flamed for it.
My guess is #1 and #24 is either Steve Austin/Brian Pillman, or Bret Hart/Jim Neidhart. |

So I'm thinking of stealing this idea for my list of 100 favorite matches of all time.
By "stealing this idea" I mean listing them all in this manner of course. Not just 100-75. *ahem* |
