Elijah Burke was penciled in for the Spirit Squad, but he asked to not be put in the group because he didn't feel he could handle the acrobatics.

Pretty sure he just wanted to avoid being put in that gimmick.

Dolph Ziggler should go back to having bleached blonde hair... looked cooler and more interesting imho... Character also seemed more interesting (based on 5 seconds of clips, wasn't really watching back then) than his current "whiny"/depressed gimmick

Feels like they told Carmella to try to put on a thicker "NY accent" or something... did she always used to talk like this... never really noticed... Sounds pretty bad tbh, like how Lana loses her Russian accent on random words... Not really "from NY"... from Massachusetts I guess but w/e........ I like Carmella and how they at least try to give each wrestler some "character"

• I'm happy that Bliss got the pin, but because of it, I really can't see her winning on Sunday.

Every week I'll always be left wondering why Carmella got called up from NXT. Every week she just shows how bad she is. During the match, she placed her foot on the top turnbuckle so she could ram Nikki's head into it but instead, she rams Nikki's head into the middle turnbuckle.

What?

• The Vaudevillains vs Hype Bros. featuring The Ascension (for some reason). It was battle of the jobbers, really but it was alright, I guess. I really feel that Mojo will be way better as some kind of crazy strong heel. Kinda like Ryback.

• I was hoping since it was first mentioned that we would see some Kerwin White clips during the Dolphumentary and we did! It's a shame there wasn't more focus on it though, but it was a good video and holy shit, the Spirit Squad! (well, some of them) Kenny doesn't look any different but good God what has happened to Mikey?

Fat and bald, and wearing the green tracksuit just made him look like someone's dad that you would see cheering their kid on during a children's football match.

Fun Fact though, this was Mikey's first appearance on SmackDown. What a debut.

• A little botch with the graphic as it said "Jason Jordan vs Jimmy Uso" but we got Jey instead. I really feel that The Usos will win on Sunday.

• Curt Hawkins is debuting at a PPV, which is a good sign, but I learned years ago that the WWE can crush something that looks promising. So I'm fully expecting him to either debut against a jobber and win, which doesn't really mean anything as the win will be against a jobber, or we see him in the ring cutting a promo when boom, Kane comes out and Hawkins jobs.

It's still good to have Hawkins back though.

• Baron Corbin is still Baron Boring. I really don't think anything will make him interesting. I was expecting some new music for Swagger and maybe no more "We The People" but oh well. I'm not sure about that finish though, but we'll see where it goes.

It's cool that Swagger won though, which means we can now say that in 2016, Swagger main evented SmackDown and won.

• The face to face to face off was good, but to me, it made Ambrose come across as being a heel. He sounded bitter or jealous of Cena for some reason. He only spent about a minute talking to Styles and the rest of the time he was going off on Cena. It was like it was Styles & Ambrose vs Cena.

• Overall, SmackDown was good, but I didn't actually find it as good as the previous weeks, but that could be down to me being up to my eyeballs with a bad cold at the moment.

But hopefully my cold will be gone by Sunday. I'm still really looking forward to No Mercy.

I'm almost expecting Hawkins to get into the ring at No Mercy, cut a promo, and then leave without actually wrestling.

Come to think, it might actually get him more heat than beating a random jobber.

This week ended up being slightly lower than last week for viewers even though it had a lot more competition going on.

SDL had a few things I didn't know how to feel about this week.

When Kane came down to face Wyatt my first thought was "Hey, Bray's getting his win back ", so I guess we'll done for swerving my expectations? But Bray still lost. Orton has had the upper hand the whole way through this feud, could Bray get a PPV win?

Following a count out loss, we went straight into a DQ loss...then an old SD trope came out when the fracas became a tag match...and the challenger pinned the champ.

On the other hand, I was blown away by the fact that Dolph's previous characters were brought up. Nice to see an element of WWE canon. Bring back Kenny!!

The face to face to face promos were solid, with believable content, even if the break down was easily telegraphed.
