Hello The PWW

Just sort of watched the ppv.

Battle Royal - Really good, lots of intertwining stories that either touch on past/ongoing feuds, or could lead into some good feuds. Luchas all teaming up was fun and they teased the lucha bros going against bullet club, so kinda assume they might have a 4 v 4 of luchas vs bullet club at forbidden door.

Jericho v Cole - skipped to the end, can’t care about anything Cole does. Awful. Didn’t look like anything good was happening as I skipped.

Tag titles - skipped to the end. Didn’t really care, although Jeff Jarrett is great

Women’s match - skipped to the end, didn’t care. I like Hayter but everything they’ve done has been terrible for the past few months. I guess she’s injured?

Trios - I like all these guys so watched the full match, lost interest though. Was fine

Jade v Valkyrie - skipped to the end. Nice @ Statlander, finally they can actually do something with Jade

Pillars 4 way - really really good. At no point did I think MJF wasn’t going to win, but they still made it enjoyable. Sammy G was prob the least annoying he’s ever been. Really good match overall.

BCC v Elite - was fine I guess, these hardcore multi man matches are always enjoyable to an extent. Ending was predictable although godddd they should not have Wheeler Yuta pinning Omega.

Cole beating Joe relatively clean to win that Owen tournament was really bad. I think that was when I tuned out completely on AEW. Having a bland indy darling go over a potential superstar beast is a trap WWE has constantly fallen into. Tony’s love of Goldberg and old school rasslin’ gave me hope he wouldn’t fall into the same trap but it wasn’t meant to be.

He was a bit more muscular, and the leader of a heel faction for almost the entire run. On his own working a safer style post concussion as a babyface badass when he weighs about 150 pounds, he is just grossly miscast and nowhere near the top of his game.

I never really saw much of him in ROH or NXT but he seemed to be really popular. Seems like thats really turned on him.

The crowd still love his schtick and despite myself I find I get hyped for it when his music hits too but I havent seen any substance past that yet. As a heel he felt too cool heel for me when I expected him to be a chicken heel based on his build.

If they did the unsanctioned match and he went a bit nuts on Jericho it might have kick started him but that wasnt far from a normal match with more punching and a chain.

Cole’s biggest issue for me isn’t even his size. It’s the fact that his character has NEVER changed. ROH Cole from 2013 is the same exact dude as 2016 NJPW Cole who is the same exact dude as 2017 NXT Cole who is the same exact dude as 2023 AEW Cole.

I like him in the ring. He’s got a decent enough personality. But he hasn’t developed or evolved as a character at ALL.

I like him. He's a talented dude.

But from the first time I saw him in NXT, a ton of people were proclaiming him as this top-tier guy and I just never saw that.

Hayter completely wasted as champion. Sad really. Great in ring talent with personality to boot. And she played second fiddle her entire reign with the only standout match being the one where she won the title. Still believe they missed the boat on turning Britt heel abs setting up a program between the two to really put Hayter over. Britt is better as a heel.

They could’ve tried to salvage it and have a story ready for when Hayter is back by having Britt screw get out of the title last night. It was obvs Storm was getting the belt back to set up the Rosa return feud. Fine and dandy. But at least have something for Hayter to do when she gets back. Just awful handling by Tony.

Tony Khan is a pretty terrible booker. What on this show actually produces a direction for them? Adam Cole moving up the ladder? That was objectively bad and didn’t work. Maybe Jade/Statlander and Jade moving on from her manager? Everything else sounds like it exists for its own sake.
