Not really different.

Jericho was fed up of the way he was being treated, so he decided not to renew his contract and concentrate on his personal life. He promised WWE he'd be back.

Christian was fed up of being de-pushed so dramatically, and he was miserable and didn't want to renew his contract.

The only difference is Jericho promised he'd be back.

Well, except Jericho said he was burned out in wrestling, and went off specifically to do music. He actually made this statement, which is contrary to what you assume both Christian and Jericho were thinking. There has been no major statement my Christian, just a hint that he might be back at some point, but even that doesn't really say where.

Jericho didn't really promise he'd be back, he left it open to the ends that he might return. In fact, it was so vague that people were definitively stating the opposite of what you are claiming as well.

So yeah. If you ignore the fact that you've got your facts wrong, that's exactly the same. But that requires to to ignore your entire foundation being wrong, which is pretty hard to do. I applaud your effort.
