Live Anywhere (an Xbox Live like system for Vista) will extend to mobile phones but doesn't give any specifics.

Live Anywhere will provide cross-platform possibilities. Just scratiching the surface of mobile gaming. "Start a game on Xbox, continue it on your phone. There are games that will work that way."
That just sounds evil. This Live Anywhere thing sounds nice, but we want to see these features in action. Gates is right that Microsoft is the only company that can pull this off (because of the ubiquity of the company's operating system), but it's also the only company that can fail to execute. Ooh, it's almost like Billy G's reading this blog post, because now they're going to show us some demos. Scott Henson Director of Platfrom Startegy takes the stage. |

Henson is starting game of Shadowrun on Xbox. He is automatically signed into Xbox Live; looks at friends list: can see friends on Xbox 360, mobile, and PC. "One gamertag no matter what the platform is ... of course I will be able to real time voice chat while we are playing cross-platform."
Not so bad. Talk on the phone while you play. |

Scot Henson, director of platform strategy for Xbox and Windows takes the stage to show off Live Anywhere. Starts up game of Shadowrun, connects with friends list--which shows whether his friends are on a PC, Xbox 360, or mobile phone. He sends message to Major Nelson, who is working on a Vista PC. On the right-hand side is his friends list, just like Xbox 360--GamerTag on there too. Henson says acheivements on any platofrm will add to one single gamer score, and GamerTag will be the same too.

Buy content once, available on all platofrms. Buy Zuma on Xbox 360 and have access to it on mobile phone -- one Marketplace. Gamercard integrated into mobile phone.
Thats pretty smart. |

Now they are saying that GTAIV will launch simultaneously on Xbox 360 and PS3. Hmm...
Good news! They are saying that if you buy content for one, you get access to it for all of them. I'm not sure if that means that I could buy a 360 game and get it on the PC as well or what. |

New demo: From a Motorola cell phone, Avenger pulls up his friends list and notices that Major Nelson has sent him a message. In thise case, it's a car that's been sent from Major Nelson for use in Forza Motorsport. Avenger modifies the car with a Windows Vista application (applying an Xbox 360 logo to it). User-generated content for real -- but how will the company keep less clean content from showing up on the hoods of Forza Motorsport cars? "Racing on Xbox 360, editing on Windows Vista, and tweaking on the mobile phone." Peter Moore re-enters.

GIGANTIC Covenat dropship... dozens of them. Sky swarming with banshes over gian crater is actually a giant forerunner gateway--the gateway lights up, screen goes white, logo is shown.

Crowd went nuts for the trailer. This was probably the most mixed emotions of all the conferences. They were really disappointed in the piniata game, stunned and gasping at the GTAIV news, and going crazy for Halo.

They didn't steer far from their normal formula. They did a bunch of "we have the fastest selling console" but came through with some big news.
I find it funny that even though they announced GTAIV, it was also a huge announcement to the PS3 as well. Overall they were all pretty nice. I would rank them as: Sony, Microsoft, and then Nintendo. |

I mean it isn't like these companies don't know when E3 is coming. It is their big chance to show it off, and all most of them do is reiterate everything they have already been saying. It puzzles me. And yes, I understand that things don't always flesh themselves out in time. But SHOW US. SHOW US SOMETHING.

So far for me, Halo 3 = Boring, Sony Details = Awesome, and Nintendo's Conference =
, with the not being a good thing, albeit better than Microsoft's.

Hmmmm. I enjoyed Nintendos games, but Fable 2 and MGS4 also looked great.
Looking around. the Sony conference was getting the most bashing. If you look on Slashdot especially. |

Just downloading the Sony and Nintendo confrences, as well as the MGS4 trailer. I really cannot wait for the PS3 to come out now, I'm pre-ordering one of those bad boys as soon as possible.

I was expecting something really bad from Nintendo after reading what you guys said, but honestly, I don't know what was so bad about it. I watched it, and they made the way they pushed the games was real good. They actually got me excited about the Wii, and they announced so many must-get DS titles. Sure it wasn't the big bang I was expecting, but it served it's purpose.
Sony's conference was pretty good, but a bit bland. They announced what they had to, but nothing ground-breaking. It seemed like more of the same to me, with nothing really new or unexpected. Microsoft's presentation just hit me as boring though. I'd rate the conferences Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft. None of them was terribly hot like I expected however. |

Just saw some screenshots for Yoshi's Island 2 at another site.
![]() Also saw a new game for the GCN, called "Super Paper Mario", which is like a Paper Mario side-scroller, with Peach and Bowser as playable characters too. Finally, Mike showed me the shell controller for the virtual console. It looks like a SNES controller with two analog sticks. Not that is good. |

Don't get me wrong, I think Nintendo did a great job showing the games. They pushed them like they had to and they showed their first party franchises to get everyone interested. The only thing I'm disappointed in was the fact that it was their time to sell their console, not the games. The show floor is for the games and the conference is where people want to hear big news about things that they don't know. Such as: price, date, online service, etc.

I'm just watching the Nintendo conferrence and I'm really not impressed by Wii. The whole controller thing is too gimmicky for my liking. This is coming from someone who is currently playing Guitar Hero every day.

Ditto. I want to give Nintendo the benefit of the doubt, but the whole console just looks too cheap for me. Or gimmicky, like you said. If they do kickass games though, I won't care if the controller is the worst piece of shit ever. Nintendo has always had some pretty awesome games, in my opinion. |

Seeing the demonstration of the tennis game seems interesting, but I wouldn't want to look like a twat when actually playing it. A reason why I stayed away from the EyeToy games was because you could see who fucking stupid you look.

They announced Super Smash Bros. Brawl today which will come in early 2007. They had characters like Mario, Kirby, Pikachu along with some new faces like Wario, Pit, Meta Knight, and a surprise appearance from Solid Snake.
They answered some questions about the Wii and the games. They said that you might not want to throw away your GC controllers for the game as they are support and they also said that they want Galaxy to have a multiplayer mode where one person plays as Mario and the others help by using the Wii controller. They might bring Brawl online but they said it would be hard for four people. |
