I mean it's obvious he has amazing stuff that would be near impossible to hit the first time you saw it. But he still has a lot to do before we can start talking Cy Youngs. He didn't throw a single pitch with a runner on base today. He was perfect except for Upton's homer so we have to see how he throws from the stretch and under pressure. Still my hopes and his ceiling are sky high. Even higher, although less publicized, than Homer Bailey IMO.

Cueto wasn't slated as anything except a promising prospect when spring training started this year. There were 3 spots open in the rotation and most people thought they'd be filled by Affeldt, Belisle, and Bailey. Then Cueto starting striking people out at a ridiculous rate (I think it was 19 Ks in 13 IP) and the other 3 struggled so Cueto moved into the rotation.

LOL Shea Stadium is prolly gonna be Rickrolled in 2008. There's a poll on Mets.com with 8 options for the 8th inning singalong to replace Sweet Caroline...but there's a write-in vote option and FARK.com is encouraging voting for Never Gonna Give You Up.

Also, looks like the Mets might get rained out in Atlanta tonight. If they intend on just pushing the whole rotation back...that would line up Santana for the Opening Day start. Don't see it happening though, I think they'd sooner just skip Mike Pelfrey's turn rather than put Santana on a full 7 days rest.

When I went to Baltimore last summer to see the Sox play they started pulling Sweet Caroline but then just cut it off lol...it was pretty hilarious because the stadium was full of Red Sox fan

So I guess MLB decided to do away with those highlights of every game that were really easy to watch cause they were just short clips that showed the plays and now they have some stupid 3 minute long video with some guy narrating it. That pisses me off so much

Hawkins and Farnsworth are gonna be tough to watch this year. It is just like seeing Farnsworth out there twice as much.

Liked what the rest of the bullpen did though. Albaladejo, Ohlendorf and Traber were all solid.

Wow, after last night's rainout it looks like today's game might be washed away as well. If it is that would put the Mets in an interesting situation. They have two choices:

A - Push everybody back, meaning Maine starts on Sunday with Santana pitching the Home Opener on Tuesday on 7 day's rest.
B - Start Santana on Sunday as scheduled, thus pushing Maine back to the Home Opener on Tuesday, by which point he would have had 9 day's rest from his last spring start.

I certainly hope its the former, and not just because I'm going to the Opener. Everybody seems to be all "you have to start Santana on Sunday, you can't mess with your ace's schedule!" but if you ask me I think he's way too good a pitcher to be affected by 7 day's rest. Maine on the other hand is our #2 guy since Pedro is down and 9 days rest is just plain ludicrous.

Was planning on going to the Braves game yesterday but I abandoned due to weather. Same today. Wouldn't surprise me if they schedule a double header tomorrow since the other one is May 21.

LOL, reading some chatter on a MLB site and one guy is already saying that the Mets screwed up getting Santana because he's only got 1 win this season whereas Gomez has 2 for the Twins. He (Mets fan BTW) figures it's time to seriously debate that trade.

Man, the Red Sox were pretty sloppy today. Fielding errors, poor pitching in the bullpen, hitting wasn't anything to write home about. Tomorrow Beckett is on a pitch count limit so the bullpen is gonna be tired. I don't think all of April is gonna be like this, but it'll be tough.

Yeah, Bruney has looked good so far this year. I think eventually the terrible duo of Farnsworth/Hawkins will be pushed back in favor of one of the younger guys.

This month is gonna be rough for the pen if the starters don't eat up some innings. We have 15 straight games right now and the pen has already worked quite a bit.
