The game is definitely enjoyable. The commentary can be annoying, but that doesn't bother me much. THe game looks good, the interactive stuff and new grapple system is fun. They could have added more moves, or removed less, and parts of the CAW bother me (coloring issues in the PS2 version make it impossible to have a good short sleeve black shirt without adding stuff to it, etc.)

Hmm, I honestly can't tell you. The best thing I can say is go down to your local video store, try to get a copy (I stress the word try, it was pure luck that I just happened to walk into Blockbuster when they had received their only copy of the PS2 game) and play it for yourself to see if you enjoy it or not. It's fun but if you're thinking of making a CAW like Samoa Joe, be prepared to be very limited in what you can do.

Is this really a glitch??

I've had it happen to me when they start going on about Regal instead of whoever was in the match. I presumed it was a glitch but if you think about it for a second...it's for realism!!

Go watch Raw, SmackDown! or ECW. Half the time the announcers go on about the main event, or the champion, or what just happened before the match they are supposed to be covering started. They do it all the time. Is it that surprising that during a Mickie James/Trish match JR et al are banging on about Batista/Cena/DX?

I tellsya this is the most realistc SmackDown! game to date!

How is CAW any worse than last year?

There were some amazing CAWs for 2006 and so far I don't see that much difference in the two systems.

BTW, I'm not rubbishing what you said, I'm genuinely asking as I haven't been through CAW that much.

PS2

A chairshot is called a Stone COld stunner, the tag intros are messed up Lillian's voice for but Tony CHimmel in ring duing joint brand PPVs, JR and and King commentary but SD ref as well.

Tons of really stupid things that should not be there.

the top parts of the arenas in the PS2 also look like shit, pure black as far as the eye can see.

Oh yay another glitch Special referee intro at least for cause locks up the game retarded. Yup CAW lock up for Special ref in at least title matches because they didn't bother ti animate Caws holding up the Belt like the ref does.

Well, for one thing, the fact that you're limited to two types of move types and even then, you're only allowed to use certain types for certain builds. I hate to use Samoa Joe as an example, but it's the best one I can think of.

In 06, Joe was either a superheavyweight or a heavyweight, depending on if whether you wanted his realistic weight or if you wanted your lighter CAWs (i.e. AJ Styles, Christopher Daniels) to lift him. Now with that in mind, most people I know made him using three move types (Power, Speed and Technical). With 07, if you make him as a heavyweight, say goodbye to his athletic side because you're restricted to power, tech, old school and brawler. If you make him realistic and make him a SHW, well, you're stuck with power, brawling and old-school. I'm not even going into the mass-reduction in moves.

I realise that this may or does make me sound like a whining cunt, but damnit, it just feels like a step down from the previous CAW system and that was a very large part of the game for me.

Fugitive -- when you said CAW I thought you meant the actual making of them rather than the Create-a-Moveset. From what I've seen it does seem to limit a lot of things.

Ah, my apologies for the confusion.

CAW does have a few neat additions and I don't really have any major problems with it. I just wish they'll make the snapshot of your wrestler less blocky and blurry. Maybe it's different for the 360, can someone confirm this?

Wow, if the moveset is that fucked up, I'll stick to '06.

Part of the fun of the previous WWE games was making huge guys who do 450 splashes and cruiserweight moves.

It does suck that heavyweights or something like that can't do martial arts moves. Didn't really experiment with CAW yet but I like the layout.

Found a glitch: I was Boogeyman against Viscera, Lilian Garcia was announcing but in the ring was Tony Chimmel. PATHETIC!

You know, I normally avoid GM mode, because I'm clueless as to what I"m really doing...I stumble around, making the same matches week and after week. I'm fucking clueless.

That having been said, it's retarded that you can create a female CAW, but because she can't be used in Season Mode, you're screwed in adding anything to her attributes unless you get Unlimited Exp Points via GM trophy. It's goddamn ridiculous, that feature. What's the point in using anybody else in Season Mode besides the money?

Anyway...in Season MOde, as my CAW (with a 45 overall at that point), I beat Kurt Angle in an Ultimate Submission match. You can't exit the ring, and it's like an Iron Man match with submission-only wins. I was LOVING IT. It was on Easy Mode, granted, but certain matches are tough as HELL on Easy mode. I was in a Parking Lot Brawl against Kane one time, as the Boogeyman, and I got my ass handed to me on Easy mode.

I didn't know whether to be pissed that it wasn't as easy as it used to be, or grateful that it was challenging and realistic as far as who you faced (Kurt and Kane are tougher to beat than, say, Paul Burchill or Trevor Murdoch...the attributes actually mean something in all difficulty modes).

I'm afraid to see what the game is like in Legend mode. Although I might use Kurt in Season Mode under Legend mode and simulate all the matches (and hopefully win them all), just so I can get lots of money and purchase everything.

It's not the loading times that bother me. I'm a very patient person.

It's not even the weird commentary that bothers me. It's more realistic to mention Triple H when I'm fighting a Divas match that not to.

It's not even the fact that the new grapple system is hard to get used to. It's something interesting to learn.

But why the fuck doesn't my character ever FUCKING SPEAK in Season Mode?? I'm using my CAW and for about 6 in-game months, he's said like ONE LINE, on the mic.

Not only that, but the voices you get to choose from for your CAWs? The preview is them yelling, which does NOT help me one bit in choosing the right voice... when I heard my CAW speak that one line, it sounded way off and not what I expected from the sample.

That, coupled with the experience points only being valid for the character you used in Season Mode (thereby making exp points from original superstars useless, and experience points for female CAWs nonexistent), pisses me off.

you get more EXP points by using them in GM mode... like if you actually wrestle the matches rather than sim them... that's how you can beef up the Divas points... or CAWs if you feel like it I suppose

just thought I would add my gripes, dont get me wrong, its better than SVR06 but not by much.

1. (is it just me?) Why cant we use Shane McMahon, Tazz and Lawler on GM mode?

2. What is with the announces when you win a match? Lilian sounds like a boy with his voice breaking, and chimel says U....maga

3. The whole cruiserweights and heavyweights is messed up, play Matt Hardy vs Helms for a laugh. Helms cant lift hardy up at all. Its just gay.

4. They have tried to hard with GM mode. Rivarlies just dissapear without notice, it will give you a list on contenders for the WWE / Heavyweight title, you pick one of them, and then it tells you that they arent a contender?!?

Like i said, the game is ok, and better than last years, but not by much. Anyone else have any of these probs?

From what I can tell, is that

* Random Dialogue - While not bothering me much would get annoying.
* The Joe weight/move conflict - this is my main reason, Im a bigger guy IRL, But I can still do crazy stuff, and in the game I want it to reflect that.
* Daivari and your character thinking he's a woman - WHAT THE FUCK?
* EXP - really stupid ass "fix" for that
* GM Mode - While adding some cool stuff, seems to have lost its flair or in KK's Case, his Benjamin (Not sure if anyone will know what I mean)
* Grapple System - They fucked that up for sure.
*Arena Ceiling - Looks like complete shit.
* Load times.

Ok tell me the good reasons, to bother spending money on this game

the GM mode is boss... way better than 06... as is the Season Mode... the Create-an-entrance is way better as well, the roster is fucking huge.

I'm not big on the new grapple system, but if you go and change the controls to "D" it is the same as 06...

If you're not sold on buying it, at least rent it and judge for yourself... Arena ceilings and Commentary don't make a good wrestling game man

Okay, I'll try and add some postivity to this. There's some good music to listen to on there, the new environmental grapples are fun, table and ladder matches are much more fun now due to the changes in winning them, the load times are honestly not that bad, you've got a more updated roster, it's fun customizing your own entrance... that's all I can think of for now.

I'm sorry if people got the impression that I hated this game, because I don't. I'm very disappointed with certain things in '07, but I'm not saying you should avoid this game at all costs. Go out, rent it and see if it's your cup of tea. Personally, I will buy it eventually, but the game hasn't grabbed me that much that I need to own it now.

By the way, if you people are so pissed off with the EXP system, just take your CAW into Season mode, put it on Legend difficulty, plug in a second controller and select Multiplayer when you want to do a match. That way, you can just clothesline the dummy opponent to the ground and pin them for a easy 2400 points in about 10 seconds (minus loading time).

I think the game is pretty bad ass, and all the people bitching about minimal things like weird commentary and not being able to give their 500lb CAW a corkscrew moonsault just want something to complain about.

You can use legends in GM Mode by going to the options and selecting them from off to on.

Talking about GM Mode, it's a pile of wank, I hate it. It's the most boring thing ever. The storylines are shit and I find it gets so boring far far to quickly. Went through it once, and didn't win, although the cut scene at the end was quite funny. Guess I wont be getting the GM trophy again this, because I'm no way in hell going through it again.

Just do the Two player trick, start a new GM mode, when you select whos who, have the other controller select P2, do whats needed, and skip through it in about 20 mins.

Im not saying that a 500lb CAW should be able to use a corkscrew moonsault, but I can and have done, houston hangovers, and moonsaults IRL, though not perfectly, I tend to land more so on my right side when I do a moonsault. Anyways I think I will rent it though sometime, just to see what its like. I doubt I will buy it though

No, because that is gay and still involve going through it. It would also require me to buy a controler I would never use again.
