Chris Rock was on HBO with Costas and had some good lines. "Can you get a ticket for speeding last week? no" "Can you commit adultry on your girlfriend, no, there is no such law you'd be break" and then to costas "If you found out (I forgot the name he used of a sports announcer) was getting 20mil more then you, wouldn't you take a pill" and Costas "damn right I would".

So, as much as I'm not a Barry Bonds fan, you have to blame baseball as much if not more then the players involved.

Well Supreme it sounds like you've picked one poison over the other. Me, I don't like Bonds, I've been saying that since forever. Not because of the 'riods stuff although because I don't like him, it's another good reason for me to root against him. Taking all those issues away, he's a jerk, he's arrogant and I won't be rooting for him ever. If tomorrow he was cleared of any and all wrongdoings in regard to supplements, I'd just have one less thing to hold against him, but I'd not like him. LOL. IF he was cleared, could you imagine the trash talking express train he'd be on?

Let's for one moment pretend that Barry Bonds is 100% innocent and the only thing he did wrong was associate with bad people. Nobody accused Mike Schmidt and Johnny Bench of betting on baseball just because they associated with Pete Rose. Look back at everything Bonds has gone through in the last few years and tell me that's fair. He might be a jerk but he's still human and I don't care how hard you try there is no way to turn off all of this and focus on baseball.

I just don't see why we have to convict him without proof of any wrongdoings. If he did cheat and we find out he did, then he can be punished. It's a whole lot easier to go from innocent to guilty based on proof than guilty to innocent based on a lack of proof.

See, I hear a lot of people say they never liked Bonds for the same reasons you list...

But then when I hear reporters, guys that actually deal with him they say "he's not a bad guy and I've never had any problems".

Be interesting to know how/why this bad reo he has started. Maybe it was a push reporter he wouldn't give a story too.

Kinda like, every athlete has someone who says "my son/daughter asked for an autograph and he said no"

What thet don't mention is said athlete just got done signing for 30-45 mins and maybe 100 autographs and at some point that athlete decided it was time to go.

Didn't he admit to the grand jury along with Sheffield that he took the stuff from balco?

That being said, at the time it wasn't against the rules of baseball.

VEL, have you ever listened to him talk? It's not a rumour that he;s a jerk, he reminds people about it on a weekly basis. This isn't a I heard from a friend that heard it from a friend type thing.

"I never saw a teammate care about him," his coach, the late Jim Brock, told Sports Illustrated in 1990. "Part of it would be his being rude, inconsiderate, and self-centered. He bragged about the money he had turned down, and he popped off about his Dad. I don't think he ever figured out what to do to get people to like him."
Brock was considered tough, demanding, and distant. But even he found himself making a different set of rules for Bonds, excusing his objectionable behavior because of his tremendous talent. The coddling started from the day Bonds arrived on campus driving a new Pontiac Trans Am. When his teammates first saw the shiny black car, it was parked in the coach's parking space.
In 1984, Bonds and some teammates were caught breaking curfew, and Bonds mouthed off when the coach confronted them. Momentarily pushed past his limit, Brock blew up and kicked Bonds off the team. After he calmed down, the coach told his players he had suspended Bonds and asked them to vote on whether to let him return; Brock was confident they would want their best player back. But Bonds was so unpopular that his teammates voted to kick him off the team for good.

Although Bonds eventually developed into an outstanding player in Pittsburgh, the only player in the club's history to win two National League MVP awards, the fans came to regard him as greedy, unpleasant, and a choke artist. [...] Because of his complaints about money and his demands to be traded, the Pittsburgh writers awarded Bonds their "MDP" award, for "Most Despised Pirate."
By the time Bonds got to San Francisco, people close to him swore he would deliberately say horrible things to the press, hoping to provoke outrage and kick up his game a notch. "My grandmother wants me to get her some wheelchair that drives like a car," he told The New York Times Magazine in one such over-the-top remark. "Why do I need to get her some wheelchair when she's gonna die anyway?" Starting with Spring Training with the Pirates in 1990, Bonds began telling writers and photographers to stay out of his face, and he used the same line with autograph-seeking fans.
Bonds was loosening up when he noticed two TV cameramen and a freelance photographer preparing to take his picture. Bonds was friendly with the still photographer, but the TV crews made him agitated. "Get out of my face!" he shouted, and brandished a ball as though he was going to throw it at him.
The altercation brought over the Pirates' press secretary, Jim Lachima, who tried to calm the angry star. "I'll make my own rules around here!" Bonds shouted, as the TV crews videotaped the action.

The deportment issues that Magowan had blamed on Pittsburgh's insensitivity flared soon after Bonds joined the team. Early in his first season with the club, Bonds walked into a meeting of Giants pitchers and began pointing at the ones he had tagged for home runs, saying, "I got you, and I got you, and you."
The owner would call Giants equipment manager Mike Murphy and tell him he wanted Bonds to sign some balls. According to the source, Murphy would relay the message to Bonds, but the star would say, "I ain't gonna sign no fucking balls."

Meanwhile Bell (girlfriend) saw less of the sweet, engaging side of Bonds's personality. He became irritable, controlling, and verbally abusive. And after beginning his training with Anderson, his very appearance had changed: Bonds had bulked up so much that he seemed like a different man.
Bell blamed steroids for the ugly changes. He would reveal his use of drugs to her in early 2000, in what had started as a discussion of his elbow injury. Although Bonds didn't tell her where he got the drugs, she assumed they were administered by Anderson, whom she called his "paid friend." Bell had gotten to know Anderson during spring training. Every year Bonds rented a big house in a gated community in Scottsdale and Bell would come down for a week before Bonds's family arrived. Anderson stayed at the house, too. Bonds had become so rude that the only people willing to hang out with him were his employees, Bell said.

Bonds became more quick-tempered. When his anger flared now, he would grab her, stand close to her face, and whisper intimidating, hurtful things. He insisted on knowing where she was every hour of the day or night. If he couldn't find her, he would become enraged, and he told her he would kill her if he found she was seeing someone else.
Her social life evaporated. He called her so many times at work that her boss began to complain. And his rages became increasingly violent. One evening at her apartment, Kim's crabby neighbor began tapping on the ceiling, complaining about noise. Barry became angry. He stormed out into the hall, shouted, "Bitch, quit fuckin banging on the ceiling!" and kicked in her door, causing the neighbor to cry out in fright.
Bell used a telephone answering machine with a tape cassette; when one tape filled up, she'd toss it in a drawer and put in a new ne. She bgean saving the messages after a few bleak occasions on which Bonds threatened to kill her, remarking that if he dissapeared, no one would be able to prove he even knew her.
Some reflected Bonds's gentle side.
"Hey honey bunny, what's going on?" he said in one. "I haven't called you in a couple of days because I've been stuck with one car and I've been getting dropped off at the ballpark, and once I get to work, I don't think about calling nobody."
On other messages, Bonds could be heard amusing himself, bizarrely.
"Hey girl, what's up?" he said in one voice mail of this type. "Kim, hey--who is trying to get in on my shit? No nigga's trying to get into my shit. Don't have me kill a nigga. Ha ha ha ha--later girl. I'm on my way to San Diego, but I'm still getting the pussy, ha ha! Welcome to the penthouse!"
In some, Bonds sounded disturbingly like a stalker.
"Kim, I just paged you, now I'm pissed," he said in one message. "Fuck it, I don't give a fuck what, you better just find me. Well, why don't you just page me, however, I'll find you. But if I page you, your ass better drop every fucking thing and call me back!"
Once, Bonds left a flurry of messages over a 10-minute period.
"I'll find you," he said. "Now my blood temperature is rising."
Minutes after that, he called again: "Kim, it's 6:36. Now I done called three times. You, I mean you can't even explain it, mother. I'm pissed, 'cause I already called you at work, so you're not at fucking work either!"
And on yet another occasion, Bonds said, "If I don't know where you are, then a nigga's going to kill somebody, good-bye."

No1 will get to 300 in a while. Big Unit might but hes 16 away and is considering retiring. The next guys on the list have to have at least 10 plus wins in 5 years but they are older pitchers like Moyer and Smoltz. Pedro could do it but doubtful because he would have to win 91 more games in his career. Olney said the next logical guy to prolly do it is C.C. Sabithia.

500 HRs is not as big as a milestone as it was. Big Hurt and A-Rod did it this season and Thome is only 10 away from doing it and Manny is 14 I believe so its possible to have 2 more on the 500 list before the season is even over.

The Yankees are continuing to remake their bullpen. Mike Myers will be designated for assignment today and veteran righthander Jim Brower will be recalled from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre

Now I don't know the reasoning for this. When we got younger guys who can actually help us why did we sign him? Does anybody even know who the fuck this guy is?

Yeah, I wanted him out just about as much as I want Farns out (And trust me that's a hell of a lot) My main objection to this was who we got in place of Myers. I think the main reason was because Brower can pitch consecutive days and multiple innings. Chamberlain can't do that right now and Ohlendorf just moved into the pen a while ago. I think Britton was just on the DL, not sure if he's still on it or if he just got off it or what. As for Ramirez I'm not sure. I think they just want to use Brower while he is hot; he's not young or anything but he's putting up solid numbers. I doubt he will be up here long though with those other guys waiting behind him.

Yankees did what they had to do since the break in beating up on the crap teams. Hopefully they can actually show something this month when they start facing playoff contenders. The offense has been ridiculous against the shitty pitching but now they have to face some decent ones.

Starting today they face Toronto (never easy for the Yanks), Cleveland, Baltimore (another team that gives Yankees trouble), Detroit, LAAA, Detroit and Boston. Rough stretch there.

Moose was just doing his mid-inning routine on the ATV and he accidentally clipped Crisp. It was clearly an accident, Crisp and anybody else with a sense of humor thought it was funny but Schilling was all like I DID NOT PITCH WITH KETCHUP ON MY SOCK SO SOME ASSHOLE MOOSE COULD RUN OVER MY TEAMMATE
