Good! I like Ramirez much more then Bean and Henn anyway. That guy has some sick pitches. Hopefully we keep him on the team this time.

And thank God we got on top of the Wildcard. Now they have to try and push themselves so they can get to the AL East title. Making up 6 1/2 games shouldn't be that hard.

We ain't on top yet. We're tied with the Tigers, and we've got the Indians going back and forth and Mariners with a possibility of making a run for either the wild card or the AL West.

However, the Red Sox visit the Angels so the Yankees might be able to gain maybe 2 games at the most if all goes well this week.

We don't need to be on top just yet. But I would think we'd be on top by early to mid September be that AL East or Wildcard. If Detroit loses tonight would that mean we'd have the AL Wild Card if the Indians don't lose? Right now Detroit is losing 4-2 in the fifth inning to the Devil Rays.

Edwar is lights out, Torre once again proved he sucks at managing a bullpen by letting 2 weeks go by in between his apperances. Nasty changeup.

Henn and Bean are mediocre arms. I don't know why they insist on calling them up all the time when there are more capable arms like Chris Britton, Edwar Ramirez and Joba Chamberalin down on the farm. Bean and Henn are older (actually, Henn is only like 25) so I guess they want to try and get something out of them before calling up the younger guys.

Unless Britton is still on the DL I don't see why they don't bring him in and Joba in.Replace Farns with Joba or Britton. I don't understand how 2 young pitchers like them can stay off the team but a worthless piece of shit like Kyle Farnsworth gets to stay on. It just doesn't make sense. I heard Joba is going to be called up soon don't know about Britton though.

Did anyone else notice that Clay Hensley, the guy who gave up 755, was suspended for steroids when he was in the minors? That's pretty good writing there.

Yeah, it looks good, until October. I dont want to see those guys Pull an Ankiel and fold HARD. Although with a 4 Person rotation they might have another vet in the pen.

You guys are over valuing those guys IMO. If the Yankees make the playoffs it won't be because of their pitching.

Can someone tell me why year after year, Cincinnatti seems so willing to part with Adam Dunn?

I now he strikes out a ton, but he scores the runs, hits the HRs, drives in the runs, plays every day. Just seems like the Reds' management is stuck on the low avg and K's

Or is it something else?

I think it is that they are out of everything, and they know it, but Dunn has a ton of value because of what you said. A lot more GMs are seeing the Money ball value to players. Dunn will never be more valuable than he is now, and for a team that has no shot, he could pull in some good prospects. The guys is a lock for 100 walks, RBIs, Runs, and 40+ HRs. He is trash in the field, so to an AL team he is the Moneyball version of Big Papi.

I wish the Jays played with more desire and more aggressively . I completely hate the whole money ball mentality they now employ. Give me a running game anytime. Doesn't just mean try to steal bases, but hit and runs, going 1st to 3rd, etc. put some goddammed pressure on the pitcher and the defense.

So what the hell is going on with the Orioles and Tejeda? Why would they put him on waivers and yank him back when someone tries to claim him? WSOX aren't commenting, but I don't care too much about their side of it, I want to know what the O's are thinking.

-edit- I have to guess they were about to trade him... I wonder to whom?

I still think he lost it in the lights when he was playing in Left. It can get real bright.

All in all great game. Clemens did a masterful job at pitching and we got to see Joba pitch. He really impresses me. I think he's gonna do big things for us. 2 scoreless innings with 1 hit and only 2 walks isn't bad for a reliever on his first day in the MLB. I'll tell you one thing what I saw from him today made me proud that we didn't give him to Texas for Gagne.

All though I would have been happy if we didn't have to send out Bruney. At least it wasn't Edwar again.

I would think they were just keeping their options open. They wouldn't lose anything if he cleared waivers so why not do it just to see what happens

Well he's terrible in the field and he hasn't seemed to improve his game much over his career so yeah he's got a huge bat but he's not a National League player. That and he's making $10 million this year I believe. The Reds aren't going anywhere with him so why not try to shake things up and get some talent?
